HP Pavilion dv9207us Notebook Hot Deal? $749.99 AR ($400) and AIS ($50)

With a go 7600 with 256MB dedicated memory, yes that is a pretty incredible deal. You won't find a better video card in anything except a very high-end gaming laptop.

I have a DV8235nr, the dv9000's are pretty much the same systems, but with a couple of new technologies like C2D and such. The dv8000 has impressed me thoroughly, with reliability and performance. Of course mine has 2 100GB drives in RAID 0 so disk performance is above most desktops, but this is still a great value for $800. If you aren't going to be carrying it outside the house then you'll love the 17" screen.

Thanks OP for posting this. I'd never purchase from compusa, so I'm wondering if anyone had any bad experience with their rebates.

Thanks.

Did anyone else notice this in the specs

4 x Universal Serial Bus (USB) 2.0
1 x Audio - Headphone-out with S/PDIF Digital Audio
1 x Audio - Microphone-in
1 x Video - VGA (15-pin)
1 x Video - TV-Out (S-Video)
1 x RJ-11 Modem
1 x RJ-45 Ethernet LAN
1 x Notebook Expansion Port 3
1 x IEEE-1394 FireWire (4-pin)
1 x Consumer IR (Remote Receiver)
1 x HDMI

CompUSA erebates are the closest rebates to money in the bank. Fill out some stuff from your receipt and you get the money in a month.

You know what it DOES have an HDMI port. I don't know if this link works: http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopp...tertainment&series_name=dv9000t_series

If it does, then click on the 'left view' pic and you'll see it. AN HDMI port on a laptop. Weird, considering hardly any laptops ever came with DVI ports. I wonder if this is just because it's running Vista and can't use VGA output with DRM-protected media?

17" is wayyy too big for me. That is a very sweet deal though. I have the 400, don't have the 700... 🙁

I had the same question myself. Anybody had any experience (good or bad) with CompUSA rebates?

According to many on here (including Allisolm), the CompUSA's eRebate program is excellent. I haven't tried it myself.

1) compusa rebates used to suck, just like tiger direct... their erebates seem to be better...

2) has anyone looked at the bmks of performance on this lappy? i was surprised that my 2.2ghz/138mhz fsb/128mb 6800nu pc does better in 3dmock05... that really surprised me...

i was looking to get this for my off to college kid, but gaming on it, even @1440/900, would not be real crisp... anyone have real life experience with this thing? it seems like a screaming deal...

I got the Costco model on sale with a C2D processor and second hard drive already included...I thought I was fine until I saw this deal. Doh!

I already ordered this and am taking the Costco model back...did you guys notice that it has the tuner. Crazy! Costco model did not have tuner and was 1350 on sale!

This is a smoking deal in my opinion. It plays all the games I want to play and does video editing and other graphics work just fine.

I put 2gb of RAM in, a 7200 RPM HD for the OS and bought a second caddy for the included HD:

HP Part No: 434106-001

Thanks OP!

Could you please provide a link to these benchmarks?

The 7600 256MB (dedicated) video card in here is as good as it gets without going to an XPS with a 7950GTX or something. There's a fair-sized gap in mobile GPUs between mediocre and really high performance.

What I'm saying is, the video card is as good as it gets unless you want to spend $3K+. My go 7400 w/up to 512MB memory shared can play BF2 at medium settings at about 1024X768 ok, so this one with dedicated memory and a faster GPU should be fairly decent.

WITH THE TUNER? Wooow I didn't notice that. The Expresscard TV tuner is $180 on HP's site and mine works incredibly well. It runs a little hot but works seamlessly with Media Center.

Sorry for being such a doofus, but I can't seem to find the parts where you can upgrade this laptop to 2GB of RAM.

Zero memory slots available out of the 2 on the system. So if you were to upgrade the memory, you would have to remove a 512 MB stick.

That would take you to 1.5 GB. To get to 2GB, you need to replace both. However, you should still get a decent price for the 2 512MB sticks.

OK..this really looks like a great deal....now my question is...does HP have a decent customer service? I'm thinking of getting another year of warranty. I'm kinda spoiled by Dell that sends someone over each time something goes wrong on my laptop.
