I do not care for the aesthetics of the Mac laptops , nor do I like OSX and the Apple tax. I'm very happy with my Dell; good combination of looks, performance, OS & price.
I use my laptops pretty relentlessly - prior to my current 13" MacBook Pro I have always pretty much killed them after 2 years or less. My MBP still looks essentially brand new after almost 3 years. Combine the stellar build quality, design and resale value and I don't understand the basis for claiming that it was "overpriced."
As an aside, for me build quality and ergonomics are more important in a laptop than having bleeding-edge hardware (though obviously I'd prefer to have both). Any computer made in the last 5 years or so will provide adequate performance for me - what I care about is a pleasant user experience, and Apple delivers that in spades.
After taking the plunge into the world of MacBook pro a couple of years ago I decided I probably won't go back until I can find a windows laptop with comparable trackpad hardware/drivers. I've yet to find one.
And how much work do you get done on that trackpad vs a regular mouse? That's what I thought.
Do you think I'm working right now? lol

Try dropping the MBP and talk about the build quality. Now drop a Lenovo and see which one still works. I know which one my money is on.
Not sure if serious. Thinkpad quality has gone down hill with Lenovo.
Can someone please educate me what big deal is about Apple trackpads? The trackpad on my Dell works just fine for me, although 95% of the time I'm using a mouse anyway.
multi touch gestures + smooth as silk
2 finger scroll on a dell trackpad is nothing like 2 finger scroll on an apple trackpad
So what? How much would you pay to upgrade a non apple laptop with apple's trackpad? Put a finite value on it and you'll see Apple's hardware is still overpriced.
I love my ENVY's trackpad, but honestly I'd pay no more than 50 dollars to upgrade it to a theoretically perfect trackpad.

So you're saying that a trackpad is the reason that you like your Mac so much. For what function, web surfing? Hell, ipads do that better than your Mac. My question is, what function does the trackpad serve if it's not as efficient as using a mouse for work nor as effective for surfing the web as a touchscreen? Many in this thread are enamored by the trackpad, so give me a good reason as to why it's invaluable and has made you a Mac consumer.
