soda = carbonated
beer = not

/thread

uh..

If beer wasn't carbonated, it would just taste like a crappy juice.

What is that 'kssstt' sound when you open a can/bottle of beer?

:(

I do understand OP. I love me beer, but a nice cold crisp and sweet taste of coke is perfect.

Soda pairs infinitely better with chips and fast food.

Beer is great with real sit-down burgers and hot junk food (bar food like fries, wings, etc).

I like a nice birch/root beer with my meals but otherwise avoid coke etc... type sodas.

i tried a birch root beer for the first time recently. i think it was made with chickory root. i did not like it. i still prefer IBC above all other root beers.

I don't know, I figure it was the yeast doing it's magic.

I don't really like beer with any food. I don't like the way it changes the taste, and how filling it can be.

Americans treat beer as being sinful, so you don't see it widely available. You might not realize it due to commercial deluge, but there's a clear separation. Beer is the whore you go to before going home to the wife, and it never gets mentioned in polite company.

I've never liked a beer I've tried, and I've tried about 20 different variants.

Soda or moonshine is how I roll.

Try some fresh paella with a Cruzcampo. If you don't like that then there is no hope for you and you have no taste buds.

Cruzcampo is terrible. Im having tempranillo or vermouth with paella.

There are only a handful of countries that give a rats ass about brewing and spain isnt one.

No way, beer goes best with all salty foods; so much more refreshing. Of course I don't really like pop/soda of any kind.

You mean like club soda? Or just plain old carbinated water? That stuff is blah! plain water is much better. Or, pop is much better. That said, coffee, tea, or beer are much much better.
I like good plain seltzer(not club soda). Club soda tastes good mixed with Southern Comfort. It's kind of like a 7&7, without the unbearable sweetness.

Huh? Where do you live that beer is scarce? I want to avoid that place, wherever it is.

Light beers are not worth drinking and there are certainly NOT as sweet as sodas. Most foods do not benefit from soda as an accompaniment. More benefit from plain old carbonated water.

Agreed. Never heard of such a thing.

He must live in a dry county or something

Probably in some ultra conservative redneck area, places where buisnesses have to close sunday morning so that everyone goes to church.

Also interestingly the same place where most of the moonshine in this country is exported from.
