How can anyone drink soda instead of beer?

I'm talking about when you go to sit down for a meal. If you get a nice light beer (Cruzcampo, Estrella, etc) it is as sweet as Pepsi/Coke but much healthier.

Ignoring the alcohol, the beer has much less sugar and more fiber/potassium.

Why would anyone subject themselves to the non-natural poisonous mix of chemicals known as soda?

Nothing better than sitting down to a meal and downing a few beers. Yep, thats the best! Of course, until those red lights come up behind you and issue you a DWI. Don't get that sort of excitement with plain soda.

Not fond of the taste of beer. I'd rather have soda.

Then again, I'd prefer tea to either. Except I'll agree with NWH... a nice REAL root beer always hits the spot, ice cold out of a glass bottle preferably.

The analogy for that situation is where someone downs like 5 cans of soda at dinner. I don't even want to know what kind of disgusting animal that is.

I am talking about just a drink or two with a meal (with water there as well). There should be no issue of a DUI with that, although I'm sure the nazi MADD would disagree.

I'm the complete opposite. How can anyone drink beer and eat food at the same time. Beer is filling, soda isn't. Beer is a meal in and of itself, even light beer. UGH, people talk about eating pizza and drinking beer but nope, not me, I just can't do it. I start to gag. I'm not a big beer drinker anyway, but can drink soda with just about any meal as it cleans the palate and fizzes which makes it taste extra awesome.

Besides not liking the taste of any beer Ive ever tried, they charge you $7+, no free refills, and you shouldn't drive if you have more than one.

Try some fresh paella with a Cruzcampo. If you don't like that then there is no hope for you and you have no taste buds.

I'm sticking with soda instead of beer and wine, water is a healthy alternative to stay hydrated too.

If I'm at home, I've no problem drinking a beer with a meal. If its a weekend or I'm not at work, then I may be enticed to have a beer with a meal at a restaurant. Not every employer smiles on employees drinking any alcohol during their lunch periods, its a major liability issue.

I almost never drink soda though, aside from after a long race or sometimes at aid stations, to keep the blood sugar up. I'm more of a water, or coffee, drinker.

soda = carbonated
beer = not

//edit

in this post I make myself look like a dumbass. LOL

Anyway, I get a soda carbonation burn that I don't get from beer, so soda > beer.

When you say you are sitting down for a meal, I'm guessing cheeseburgers and fries, and not a salad with tofu.

Why would anyone eat meat that has god knows what in it, from growth hormones to mad cow disease, when you could have a salad with better nutrition?

Preference? /end thread?
