The biden thing has been disproven. The investigation ended years before Biden asked the prosecutor to be removed. Even more so Biden didn't ask as a personal favor but more as something every western country and the UN itself was requesting. Its a conspiracy theory no different than the Obama birth certificate or pizza gate claims.
My point was that all wrong-doing should be addressed. I know Republicans can't imagine now defending the guilty members of their team, but it's just the correct thing to do.

I'm glad the Biden stuff is a sham (and hardly surprised), but also, root it all out, wherever it is.

So how soon can Republicans get that IG report released on the FISA warrants? Probably priority #1 for Team Trump. I'm sure they're desperate to change the news cycle before heading to recess.

Is anyone else tired of a President who considers oversight and accountability to be "spying," and any Constitutional checks and balances on his powers to be "treason"?

Cause I know I am. I'd even be happy to have a different Republican in the White House as long as they would to do what Trump won't, which is to act within the law.

Being completely serious I don’t want to get to a point where the President can ask a foreign power to dig up dirt on an opponent. Hopefully the Republican Senators agree.
This is very dangerous territory. Because you’d never know if what was discovered was true or manufactured since you are relying on another Countries findings.

I'm fairly certain all those were run out of the party years ago. Anyone that believed in the rule of law would have already resigned from the GOP. Maybe that is why we saw so many resignations these last couple of years.

Unfortunately, there are quite a few people in this country (and on this board) who cannot make a distinction between what Trump/Giuliani were doing with Zelensky and what the DNC did with Fusion GPS > Perkins Coie > Christopher Steele to get the dossier. Of course, they'll never even acknowledge that the Democrats never publicized the dossier to smear Trump before the election--or that it was Republicans who eventually turned it over to the FBI.

Oh I predict a few more retirement announcements from Congress within the next month or so.

Just imagine the MAGA tears if it ended with President Pelosi.
Perfect. Beautiful. Just beautiful.
OK, you're saying Pelosi might be the dark horse Demo candidate? I've been wondering that for quite a while now. She's one woman who really scares Trump. Of course, AFAIK she's always said she has no interest in running for POTUS. I've been wondering if some really unexpected stuff is going to happen leading up to the conventions. And nothing I can think of would rival Pelosi emerging as the opposition. She's 79. It depends on her health, naturally.

I believe jackstar is alluding to the ultra slim possibility of a double-impeachment whereby both Trump and Pence are removed from office—not that she would run for President.

No. If Trump brings Pence down with him the Speaker of the House is third in line for President.

Aha! I'd like to see THAT! How refreshing. Pelosi seems sooooo uncorrupted next to those GOP weasels.

In this weird fantasy I think she’d be the right person to return stuff to normal. Hardcore republicans would go nuts but her tenure would be short and I could easily imagine her naming a Republican as VP.
Maybe Mitt provided he agreed to not run for President. The two of them go about healing the country. She retires at end of the term and Country starts over again.

Pelosi/Kasich 2020! “Serenity Now!”

I’m beginning to think that a “return to normalcy” is just another fantasy. Both parties have been forever changed by this shitstain Administration.

I would think these guys would have like 10-15 minutes to read the complaint over the course of the day.

The highly anticipated whistleblower report regarding President Donald Trump and his conversations with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky shook Washington on Thursday as the public rushed to read the nine-page document. But some of the most influential people on Capitol Hill -- Senate Republicans -- didn't have much to say in the hours after it came out.
Many Senate Republicans said on Thursday that they haven't read the whistleblower complaint yet. Others said the complaint doesn't change things and raises "more questions than answers."
Here's what they told reporters about the complaint:
  • Oklahoma Sen. James Lankford and North Dakota Sen. John Hoeven each said they were in appropriations mark-ups and hadn't yet read the full complaint.
  • Indiana Sen. Mike Braun said he hadn't read it either, adding that he didn't know about the allegations to "lock down" information at the White House. Braun went on to say that he didn't feel the complaint would change Republicans' views of impeachment, and said the Democrats had made a mistake starting an impeachment inquiry before knowing more about the complaint.
  • Tennessee Sen. Lamar Alexander said he has not read the complaint. "I'm waiting for the intelligence committee to finish its work."
  • Ohio Sen. Rob Portman said he said he's been "running around" all day and hasn't read it and would not comment.
  • Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton said "no comment" twice and boarded a senators-only elevator when asked if he was concerned the White House was locking down information.
  • Missouri Sen. Roy Blunt, a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said, "I'll have a better idea of how credible he is later this afternoon" when asked if he is concerned about the strong allegations from a credible whistleblower.
  • Florida Sen. Marco Rubio told reporters he has read the whistleblower's complaint, and says he has "more questions than answers."
  • Idaho Sen. Jim Risch, the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said that there was "nothing there" when asked about the rough transcript of Trump's call with the Ukrainian leader. On the whistleblower complaint, he said that he prefers to look at the primary document, meaning the rough transcript.
  • South Dakota Sen. Mike Rounds said "they are using second-hand information right now. Let's let the committee investigate it."
  • Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst said she hasn't had time to read the whole complaint, saying, "I am going to have to dig into it."

I believe you have it backwards. Trump is not a cause, but a consequence. To which I agree, normalcy is far removed. We are hyper polarized and I blame the advent of modern communication coupled with our primitive reaction to information.

Since we are in Watergate 2.0 it reminds me. I saw an interview with Bernstein and he said that the real crime that Nixon committed was to try and manipulate the electoral process.

Those who fail to study history are doomed to repeat it.

I swear to God if one more liberal on this board suggests that Mitt Romney has any integrity I'm going to blow my fucking brains out. And Kasich?! I know Trump has lowered the bar but can we please remain just a little bit grounded in reality?
