Apples last that long? How do you store them?

Where it's really cold. I hadn't touched them all winter; after sorting, it was about 2 bushels good out of maybe 8 bushels. So, about 1/4 of the apples are still edible by me; another 1/4 are good enough for the goats, though I think the goats are going to get all of them.

kind of a waste, isn't it? Most of the appeal of Honeycrisp is the bite. They are more an apple to be eaten, not to be juiced.

Who said I juiced honeycrisps?

I'd never waste such a fine apple on something like juicing. I was comparing the flavor of the honeycrisp to a freshly pressed apple cider/juice

if i bit into an apple and it tasted like grape im 100% positive i would vomit

Quebert is trolling. No sane person would mistake a grapple for a piece of fruit. The concept of the grapple was concocted by the brilliant minds behind Piggly Wiggly.

they are over-hyped as well and don't taste nearly as grapey as they should. Plus, they are like $2 an apple...

Yeah, this... they don't taste "bad", they just aren't that good. Very bland and expensive.

As for the real apples...

I'll go with Honeycrisp, Granny Smith, sometimes a Fuji or Braeburn.

Never a Red Delicious. Terrible. They lie.

They are back again! Bigger and more awesomerest than ever. $1.88/lb at hyvee. Seen them there for the past couple weeks. The first assortment was smallish and decent tasting, but this weekend they put the big kazumbas out there and boy are they good and sweet!!! Had one for lunch, going to have another for a snack later, and fart all night!

Cameos are still better than Honeycrisp...unfortunately, they're a later harvest so we won't see them for a while.

nope nope nope. They are hands down the best pick up and eat apple. Blows every other type of apple away. I dislike almost every other variety of apple, but I love honeycrisps.

See post #2. This discussion was over before it even started.

I'm gonna put an Apple logo on some crappy, neglected apple variety, call it an iApple, charge $6/lb, and watch the hipsters flood the supermarket.

...this is like the Honeycrisp hype, to me.

:hmm:

Honey crisp is the best apple. Granny smith? Good for pies and the occasional bite but it's too tart for regular eating. And Golden Delicious? More like Golden Bland.
