The orchards around here have started growing them. My opinion-better than the usual supermarket apple imported from across the country, but average at best when compared to local varieties.
 
brought home 50 lbs on Tuesday from the Upick down the street. Cant believe you people pay 4 bucks a pound for apples. 50 lbs at a solid .70cents a pound..

had some from a local veggie stand, and these are supposed to be from a local orchard. Paid $1.49/lb, which is lower than the normal $3-4/lb. one of them was really sour, so it's a hit or miss.
 
Bought two yesterday at my local grocery store without bothering to look at price. Has to be my last purchase of the season. Two apples cost me $5.62. Craziness.
