Jazz are my new favorites. Best combo of sweet vs. tart and have a nice "crunch" to them unlike some of the other more mushy types.

it's a delicious apple that had sex with a bottle of grape drank. They cost a buck each out here, but imho I'd pay $2 if I had to.

they are over-hyped as well and don't taste nearly as grapey as they should. Plus, they are like $2 an apple...

The most "Meh" of overhyped apple I've ever had.

If it's not Granny Smith, it's not worth eating.

This! Though as I've said many times I think Pink Lady apples are the most over-hyped of all the apples. These would be close behind though.

They taste grapey enough where I know I'm eating something grape flavored. And they still have the apple taste. I'll agree they could be better, but I'm still going to say no Apple tastes better imho.

If by sweet and juicy you mean flavorless and watery, then you're just about spot on with your assessment of a honeycrisp.

Designer apples FTL.

You've had some bad apples then. 😛

A honeycrisp is crisp, yet tender, succulent, and tastes like apple cider.

No other apple can say the same.
But if you don't want the apple cider taste and almost *too* juicy experience, then yes, it isn't the greatest in the world.

Dude... you must enjoy watered down cider then. Though in all honesty, unless you're getting local cider from upstate NY odds are it has been watered down.

I've had honeycrisps several times, and none of them hold a candle in flavor to most other apples I've tried. They're either flavorless and watery or taste like sugarwater. They taste nothing like real cider tastes. Hell, I'd rather have a Gala, Fuji or even a Crispin over a honeycrap.

Then you've had piss poor honeycrisps. I've pressed fresh cider and while its excellent, there is definitely a nice sweet cidery taste in a fresh crisp honeycrisp apple.

Doesn't matter though. You like yours, I like mine, both of us have more to ourselves of what we like.

Free are my favorites 🙂
Just last night I sorted the last of my apples from last Fall. 2 bushels left of assorted varieties.

Trader Joe's has bags of 5-6 honeycrisps. I also saw them at the market but the per pound price was the same as the per bag price at TJs. You end up getting about 1.5 pounds per bag. So good!

You're WRONG!!!

Your apple is horseshit compared to mine!!!!!1!1one

/erage 😡😡😡

😀

Where is the season for HC now? I can think of them growing anywhere.

I'm not sure - but the label says USA on it. I could post a pic. I didn't think it was the proper season for them either, which is why I got excited when I saw them and had to make a thread. I've also learned of some new varieties to try out thanks to this thread!

I don't see any good honeycrisps unless its winter. The ones that are growing in the wrong seasons are usually small and taste like shit.

kind of a waste, isn't it? Most of the appeal of Honeycrisp is the bite. They are more an apple to be eaten, not to be juiced.
