it's a delicious apple that had sex with a bottle of grape drank. They cost a buck each out here, but imho I'd pay $2 if I had to.
The most "Meh" of overhyped apple I've ever had.
If it's not Granny Smith, it's not worth eating.
they are over-hyped as well and don't taste nearly as grapey as they should. Plus, they are like $2 an apple...

If by sweet and juicy you mean flavorless and watery, then you're just about spot on with your assessment of a honeycrisp.
Designer apples FTL.
You've had some bad apples then.
A honeycrisp is crisp, yet tender, succulent, and tastes like apple cider.
No other apple can say the same.
But if you don't want the apple cider taste and almost *too* juicy experience, then yes, it isn't the greatest in the world.
Dude... you must enjoy watered down cider then. Though in all honesty, unless you're getting local cider from upstate NY odds are it has been watered down.
I've had honeycrisps several times, and none of them hold a candle in flavor to most other apples I've tried. They're either flavorless and watery or taste like sugarwater. They taste nothing like real cider tastes. Hell, I'd rather have a Gala, Fuji or even a Crispin over a honeycrap.
Then you've had piss poor honeycrisps. I've pressed fresh cider and while its excellent, there is definitely a nice sweet cidery taste in a fresh crisp honeycrisp apple.
Doesn't matter though. You like yours, I like mine, both of us have more to ourselves of what we like.
Where is the season for HC now? I can think of them growing anywhere.
