150 mph in a stickshift corolla rental, sort of downhill highway (loooong), in South Africa, after a couple tricks, in the States 125mph in Dodge Avenger Rental on I 80 in PA.

80 mph in my 2001 toyota corolla. Was the max I was willing to let it go since it required more than 2k rpm to get it past that mark.

I5 in the central valley is a special case, I think. Going from the bay area to LA, for example, the difference between going 60 and 90mph for the majority of the distance has a serious impact on travel time.

I know someone who went from SF to LA, in under 3 hours. And someone else who once got 3 tickets on one LA to SF trip.

😕

Jesus people, open your fucking throttles once in a while.

It's good for your engine.

On deserted roads:
145ish give or take - BMW E39 540

Inside of a city
125ish

the average speed on the deserted parts of I5 are a lot higher than you'll expect. I've AVERAGE close to 120mph on it going from sac to LA before.

Do you have any idea how much the fine would be if one were caught going 100MPH? I got a pulled over 2 weeks ago going 86 on I-95, the cop gave me a break and wrote it up as 79, a $110 ticket. He told me a ticket@86 would have cost me $275!. Driving fast is fun as hell but be prepared to get seriously dry-sticked if your caught.

When I lived in Germany, I had a used Chrysler Simca. I was lucky if it did 90 MPH.
I we were going to Austria or Munich I'd rent a mini van and maybe get up to 110 MPH.

Fastest was 168 in a heavily modified 1991 fox-body mustang. Pulled a wheelie shifting into 4th gear @ 110ish. It was freakin' nuts.

In my younger and stupider days, I did 120mph in my 94 Ford Escort (even had a wing). I doubt I was really going that fast though since the speedo probably wasn't accurate over 80. In my 97 Grand Prix GT I did 110MPH, but the limiter kicked in. I could have gotten a lot faster if I had wanted to. And in a friends' Firebird we did over 140MPH, but I wasn't driving.

It's amazing I'm still alive when I think about it. Kids are so stupid.

lol

Yes, I do.

Busted for 85 in a 55 in Oregon = $480.

35MPH or more over in Oregon = Reckless Driving.

I'm still going to open it up now and again. It's in my blood.

Shens, unless it could wheelie in 1st, 2nd and 3rd too.. lol

I stopped at like 85 because I got scared of the fine I would get if I got nailed. The car had more in her, but I wouldn't do it. 😛

240-250 ish in a 2001 S class diesel benz in Germany on autobahn

Back in 88 used to drive an old ass audi, don't even remember model, around 190 everyday on autobahn

I just recently watched a ZR1 test vid in Germany on the autobahn, fuckin makes me envious not being able to do the same here 🙁 In Ontario we got a law now that if you do 50 over anywhere you get $ 10,000 fine, and your car impounded for 2 weeks 🙁

btw this is all in km/h not miles

If you were scared at 215 I don't think you'd be able to handle the ZR1 😉

I can't say I ever drove a car that was stock at high speeds over 120 or so...but when I did it was really nothing spectacular.

I would be able to handle it on the right kind of highway. During my run on the eclipse, the car was shaking and rattling like it was going to fall apart. Also the highway seemed straight normally, but at that speed the lanes started weaving, it was ridiculous, Canadian highway not built for those speeds.

The ZR1 is also a highway monster, very stable.

191MPH as logged by my portable GPS. I was on my turbo'd 2004 ZX-6R. I was bouncing off of the rev limiter in 6th - she just wouldn't go any faster damnit! My 2007 and 2008 Yamaha R1s have both maxed out at 186MPH stock on that same stretch of highway.
