To answer someone's question as to why he may not have an insane variety of brands in his collection, it has to do with our draconian laws. Only handguns on the "safe list" can be sold in CA to non-LEOs. In order for a manufacturer to get their handgun on the safe list, they have to send the CA DOJ a pair of samples, and pay a crap ton of money for them to test them.

This state sucks.

It is possible to buy non-roster handguns in CA using the single shot exemption, where they do this:

Once purchased, you leave the store, come back in, and they replace the barrel with the original and unblock the magazine. Yes it's completely stupid, but that's what we get for living in a Liberal paradise.

On the plus side, isn't that why they now make 9" barrels for some handguns?

We gonna Troll! I'm yellin' Timber!

So looking back can you group the guns you have fired and not fired?

And the LEGO sets you have and have not?

Based on your posts, you should be able to buy the crap hole of Michigan in cash and declare you are King of it.

just sayin'

Why do you buy all of these if you don't intend to shoot them? What's the point? If these were vintage Civil War era guns I'd get it....but they're M&Ps.

Looks like two Sigs, two M&P's, two XD's, and an I Dunno.

But same point. Kind of absurd. Pretty much like collecting inert objects like stamps or coins.

Or collecting cars that you don't drive. Which happens a lot...but people collect classic cars...rare cars...'too nice to risk wrecking it' cars. No one has a giant garage full of Accords and Camrys...

How are you storing them all?

After shooting a mag for a function check, I store them in Z Corr bags like this:

Their accessories bag is a great size for handguns and you can see what's inside. Their handguns bag is too big for most pistols and is opaque.

The guns I'm still interested in shooting go into cases for transport to the range:

Since you are just storing most of them, I wouldn't bother getting tritium sights. Their half life is just 12 years.

It's getting harder and harder to take group shots. Here's the 48 handguns I bought in 2013:

And a HK Mark 23, HK45 FDE, and a couple of Glock 17Ls from last month:

You do realize almost all the guns you have bought get a mag through them at the factory as a "function" test already right? So whats the point of putting 1 more mag through them if you arent going to shoot them?

Even at 750 per a gun, the 43 he bought only costs 32250. Still a lot of money but at the same time you wouldnt need a huge income to afford them either. Make 150k a year or so and be pretty easy to spend that much if you were single and this was your main hobby.

I've stopped wondering why he gets them (and boring guns at that!!) and just gone to full on ignore. It's an absolute waste to get them and shelve them like that...if I want to see pictures of generic glocks, M&Ps, Sigs and the like....I'll go on the websites. :-/

The 1911 is nice as are the rugers.

Looks like a Silicon Valley worker who missed his calling in life as a LEO or something and so living vicariously by trips to the CA gunstore. Probably doesn't have a family of his own or anything so whatever. Different priorities in life I suppose.

Yeah, it is a remarkably vanilla collection to have spent tens of thousands of dollars on. Certainly a great way to arm a private security force, but not my idea of fun.

Ive seen some guys who have high end collections that dont do it for me either. O cool you have a GAP-10, LWRC, Daniel Defense, ect AR's....that have never been shot.... Some people just collect weird things. Outside of guns with historical value or whatever (garands, a "dirty harry" 44mag, sharps 1894, ect) guns are meant to be used and abused :)

If you dont have a wife or kids, you'd be amazed at how many guns you can afford.

Being single has advantages! Just go buy that gun, or go buy the new pair of skis, or new backpack, or truck parts, or whatever and long as you have the money theres nobody to say a word about it :)

I haven't clicked on this thread in a while, and now that I have I probably won't again. What a senseless waste
