I had thought you might have been referring to machined billet components, in which case you can machine forged blanks also, not just cast molds or bar stock.

I know you were asking him, but I have a cz sp01 shadow and love it. I've changed some springs and polished the trigger a bit and it's by far the best handgun I've handled

The Tactical Sports models have this great feeling trigger. First time I tried it, I was like whoa, that thing is insanely light. It is an outstanding value in their lineup.

One day I'll get the Czechmate, but it is near impossible to find in CA and sellers want like $7K for it.

I try to fire them all; at least a mag or two for a function test.

I use Glocks for all my training classes.

I own two: a black and a FDE version. I haven't gotten around to a FN group shot yet.

I just picked up 6,000 rounds of 5.7 ammo, since it went down in price in the last month or so.

I haven't done a 1911 group shot yet.

I only have 10 1911s so far, because I'm not really a 1911 guy. I sometimes will pick them up on the hopes that one day that might change.

I have been getting into the semi-custom models lately. I recently got the Springfield Professional and the Ed Brown Special Forces, but see that there's a huge bit of diminishing returns there. So far I think the Springfield TRP is a great balance between what you get and cost.

Any opinions on MIM vs forged parts?

I have to admit, I haven't noticed much of a difference. But I know there are some guys that swear off anything with MIM.

It is a LEO only training pistol that shoots Simunition FX non-lethal training ammunition. But it is considered a firearm by the ATF and has to be transferred as such.

I have 3 Handguns and they are all situational. I have a Springfield armory XDm in .45. Not a great conceal carry weapon but if you are open carrying it is perfect for the .45 enthusiast. For every day conceal carry when I have a jacket I will go with my XDs .45 in an iwb arrangement. If it is one of those days with shorts and a t-shirt then I take my S&W M&P Shield .380 in an Alabama Holster company front pocket holster. I have a pocket holster for my XDs as well but it doesn't always fit very well and can be difficult to draw. The 380 is an excellent pocket weapon. The XDs is my favorite to shoot.

2. .45 calibur rounds are typically safer to shoot indoors because they typically *break up* and fragment due to a lower muzzle velocity. What this means, if you shoot at an intruder in your home and miss, the round will be less likely to go through multiple walls. This is important if you want to protect your family without killing them.

I speak from personal experience that a .45 ACP will go through at least 3 sheets of drywall, two hollow-core wooden doors and a box full of clothing.

I have 5 handguns. My EDC is a Beretta Nano 9mm - it eats Federal HST Micro 150gr JHPs.
My other guns are a 1982 Dan Wesson 15-2 6V .357 Magnum, a 1977 Star Model BM 9mm, a Taurus 24-7 45ACP and a Heritage Rough Rider .22 single action.

My next firearms I intend to purchase is a Springfield XDS 9mm (before June, for the XD Gear promo) and an AR15 in 556/.223.

My point was that it's more likely to fragment....which is supposed to make it safer. That may not be the case depending on the grain and actual projectile. This is just something I was told years back.

For me, I still prefer a 9mm to a .45 because I need more rounds in the magazine. I'm not that good of a shot since my 9mm is a subcompact.

I own a 1911 serial number 30,000 (made in 1913). It came from somewhere in the family... It's in incredible shape except the inside of the barrel isn't great and I don't really want to shoot it.

I've been looking for a 1911 that reminds me of the one I have, but I'm not sure what. I'd like something like an older 1911/1911a1. I much prefer blued over parkerized. I was thinking something like a Colt 1991 or O1970A1CS, or maybe something like a Cimarron? I don't want to spend more than $800-$900. For a while I was looking at newer Springfields and Remingtons, but they just don't remind me enough of the one I have.
