Ive played through 4 times on the 360, once with each possible ending and the 4th will 1.5billion for each character.

Im about 90% on the PC and am about to start the last heist then do the lester missions to rack up billions. Then I will proceed online and reek havoc their. I dabbled online a little with the PC version but found the people chatting and talking very annoying. Is there any way to turn off hearing other people?

Yeah. Press M and set voice-chat to friends only or whatever you want.

Finally wrapped the main story and am now going through the assassination missions to make everyone a billionaire. I remember the process on PS3, and it's got me extremely stressed out, because on more than one occasion I would wait too long to sell stocks and their value would crater and I'd be forced to reload an old save.

So I finished this up last night, and apparently they changed the stock payouts on some of these because I did indeed have to reload a couple times as the sheet I was working from indicated an ~80% ROI and I was topping out at 45%. I also neglected to invest BEFORE starting the side mission where you take the stockbroker to the airport, so I had to replay that one as well... But I'm all finished and everyone is in the $1.4-1.6 billion range (before going hog wild and buying everything). They lowered the payouts on some of the missions; used to be you could get over $2.4 billion easily, at which point the game would screw up and your money would go negative (that's a fun glitch).

It turns out that spending all that money is an even more annoying process than making all that money. I'm going through stores buying EVERYTHING... and it takes FOREVER. Ugh. Oh, and while I'm complaining about meaningless nonsense, what's the deal with guns that don't unlock until you complete the game? What if I wanted to use a Tommy Gun earlier, dammit?! What am I going to use it for now, hunting? Come on man.

The ones which included the most of that douche Lamar. I nominate him for most annoying game character EVER!

Incidentally, Giant Bomb (some gaming publication or whatever) gave him the award of Best New Character.

..................what

Lamar Davis is his own man. Yeah, Franklin, it's great that you're paling around with a couple of old men who are getting you into a different type of crime, but Lamar Davis is busy trying to get this kidnapping going. Lamar Davis makes his own money and doesn't need you, Franklin. F*** you, Franklin.

...actually, Franklin, would you mind going and saving Lamar Davis? He seems to have gotten in over his head again and could use a hand. I mean, it shouldn't be that big of a deal, just keep him from doing anything too dumb and/or shoot the people who want to kill him. Bring your old man posse if you think that would help.

Lamar brings a few much-needed light moments to Franklin's story in Grand Theft Auto V and helps ground that section of the narrative in something that feels real, even if it does get a little outlandish. We'd say that he's the character we'd most like to party with, but that sounds like a great way to end up dead. So instead we'll just save him when he gets into trouble and hope for the best.

WTF?

Giant Bomb must be a crackhead organization. I wish Franklin could sic Chop on Lamar's ass. Id love to see him run screaming through the hood with a big rottweiler latched onto his behind, never to be seen or heard from again! :D

It's characters like Lamar that make me hate some of the GTA releases. Being able to just shoot him would make the early game much more bearable.

Lamar is awesome. All GTA characters are always better than other games characters. Watch Dogs? Assassin's Creed? Lol, such stiff writing and acting.

How do you guys land a helicopter? I finished the main campaign at around 35 hours (just 60%) and at least a couple of hours were spent trying to land the helicopter on that darn truck in the final mission (that rail coach or whatever it was).

Highly annoying to me as well. For the record I also hate people like that IRL too.

Luck I guess, it's a terrible mechanic to have random turbulance blow you around wildly. It's not realistic in the slightest.

Well I don't know about realistic and all that, but how could they expect us to move a heli with WASD, then going to numpad section, and then moving the mouse to adjust the camera as it will reset at an angle no matter what you do. Need to expand the middle hand to that extent?

GTA V was fun, undeniably, addictive too, I didn't sleep for three days to play it. But all that fun was taken away with that awful technique, and then some.

I was so scared that I chose to blow that FIOB building (what a dumb way!) or whatever that was as Plan 1 told me (the dude with crutch, forgotten his name) to jump from the top of the building from a plane or heli, don't remember. Aeroplanes weren't tough to handle though, not at all.

You don't land the chopper in the final mission, you drop the cargo... Either way, I've never found controlling the chopper difficult, but I'm using a controller. Are you on keyboard/mouse?

OK, yeah, keyboard and mouse controls for the chopper are useless. But that's the case in every single game I've ever played. You should consider investing in a controller, especially for console ports.

Of course I'm with a keyboard and mouse! That's the best part of a PC!

I told that in my original comment.

Flying a chopper was a pain in the rear until I switched the controls from the num-pad to my mouse. Now they control more like the BF4 choppers, much slower and less responsive but still easy enough to control. I have no problems flying under bridges and between buildings with them. Planes on the other hand still just don't feel right at all, I need to see if I can bind pitch up to my space bar.

Running this game on a R9 280 (non X) overclocked to 280x speeds. At night the game runs at a constant 60fps, during the day I get between 42-60fps...the drops are noticeable and ruin the driving experience. I swear there are 280x users claiming they get a constant 60fps day and night on very high settings, I just can't see how thats possible.

I am running an i5 3470 and 8gb of ram with the 280, can anyone chime in on what settings they are using?

i5-4690K, R9 270 @ 975 MHz and 16 GB RAM. I leave all the "advanced graphics" off except long distance shadows, everything else is maxed, FXAA, 1600 x 900. Get consistent 40+ FPS, no dips below 30 that I've noticed which is what is fine with me.

Using Beta 15.4 driver of course. Love how nice the game runs in general. I've a couple Benchmarking vids of GTAV on my Youtube (link in sig), but they don't cover the settings I listed above, just maxed out with differing AA modes and another video running with "PS4-Equivalent Settings".

I am running a c2q q9500, 8gb ram and an r290. All settings are maxxed and I get just over 45fps on at 1920x1080. My system is very old and this game plays very smooth. Maybe its the 4gb ram on the video card or that my drives are all SSD but I was very surprised GTAV plays as well as it does. The only setting I have to tone down sometimes is the grass setting. Leaving on ultra and actually driving/walking thru grass slows down the system.

I have sensitive eyes, I can't play games that drop below 50fps, I need a steady 60fps or close to it to be able to play.

Movies don't stutter. And I don't play on consoles, ever.

Movies always stutter. Your eyes aren't sensitive as you think if you say they don't. Motion judder is a real thing and just about every single movie has it. That's why filming at 48fps is a big deal to me. Motion is much more natural. Movie studios try to hide the judder with motion blur.

I hope you don't watch movies or play on game consoles.
Those who 'actually game' will not look at a console, then buying it, then installing a game on it and then play it.

Anyway, about the graphics, well, I wanted 60 frames constant too, a lot of people will say turn of all the advanced graphics, yes, turning them off will increase frames quite a lot, you'll even get 75+ constantly, but what about graphics? Turning off 'Extended Distance Scaling' will make the game look like pure shite! So I was ready to give up some frames in favour of graphical quality. Another setting under advanced graphics section takes up a lot of memory, that's 'High Resolution Shadows'. I have tested by turning off and on every setting, but that. I personally think that one could turn it off to gain some frames.
And under standard graphics section, only grass quality matters. Anything but very high will make grasses look like oil painting. Of course post processing is there, MSAA being the most intensive there, so I simply had to run FXAA. Again, just like Extended Distance Scaling, there's a significant graphics difference between MSAA and FXAA, but well I have an old rig.

That's all I could figure out. I hope when RS will think they have earned enough with the game's sale they'll think about releasing a patch which will provide a fps boost, with a 970 it's not a big demand to expect 60 frames constant.

I don't think I've read a more idiotic comment on this thread.

As for the rest of your post...it's the CPU. It doesn't matter if you have Titan X SLI, you are running an old and slower CPU. You even admit that your system is a bit older. You are always going to be CPU limited unless you run very high resolutions that tax your GPU beyond it's capabilities. Rockstar can't patch in a faster CPU and they can't remove the overhead regarding DX11.

The standard NPC slider will hammer your CPU and since its old you will experience dips. Same for anything density. All those NPC's need AI routines and cast shadows. My 5930K was using 6 cores ~40%, next 6 threads were hitting ~30%.
