Am I the only one who's just not that into the game?

I just finished the submarine mission (stats tell me 20% complete?)... and frankly I'm quite bored and have little motivation to play forward.

I REALLY appreciate the amazing world, ridiculous attention to detail, and tons of crap to do. But all in all, it still ends up being quite shallow.

The core gameplay needs to be fun... shooting is bit lackluster compared to other 'shooters'. The driving actually gets bit old. You frankly don't have THAT much freedom as having cops chase after you gets quite old, so is escaping them.

It's absolutely gorgeous and I like to imagine I'm on a roadtrip between Los Santos and the countryside top.

But the game is really lacking that 'hook' for me. I think I had tons more fun playing Skyrim which is a similar beautiful sandbox but with much in-depth gameplay.

No. Rockstar just gave up on the single-player and sank time and effort into online junk.

I had fun, the story was long enough but little replay value. 8/10 from me. I built a new PC and lost my saves in the progress, just can't be bothered to go through it again. Ran the benchmark to compare performance and look at settings, had no motivation to stay in the game once I was done. Online annoying enough to permanently shelf the game.

The port runs great for me but throughout the story the game kept reminding me that I'm not the target audience.

Just out of curiosity, how did it do that?

A friend of mine says the game was just too over the top with the silliness and satire. He was a little off put by it and never finished back on PS3. Might be something similar here. Specifically with Trevor.

I find Trevor the least enjoyable character myself and I think the whole game has been watered down. There's more "activities" to do but they just feel like afterthoughts tacked on to try and get the game above 10-20 hours long.

It's a shame really cos EFLC (particularly The Lost and Damned) was quite enjoyable but they killed that off with the annoying Trevor. I honestly can't see any expansions/episodes for GTAV which in a way is a blessing.

They won't expand single player because of the online portion they want people to time sink (and buy in game currency).

I find the golf pretty good, but one course seems a little weak. Should have had 2 or 3.

spent a ton of time hunting with trevor. Man that shits fun!

When your starting out get on top of the van till you kill the bobcat then you have like 5 minutes of free roam to take pictures. After a little while I started spotting the kitties well and its easy. Really cool and I wish there was more too it.

Locking car unlocks behind race wins in online is pretty annoying. Should work differently, or maybe reduce it to having place 1/2/3, or a mix of those. What happens when the online community slows down ? It will be even harder. I guess the best way to do it is game the system and trade wins.

If it weren't for Trevor I would never finish the game, his missions are the only ones Ive really enjoyed. The best part of the game for me was all the mayhem in Grapeseed when taking out the meth competition, and for some unknown reason they just let that story line die on the vine. That was a perfect set up for some real fun, but instead we are stuck with a stooly clown like Michael doing freaking yoga, WTF Rockstar?!?!?!?

GTA has always been about over the top silliness and satire. IMO, I think they strayed too far away from their roots with GTA4. It feels like they tried to get back to them with GTA5, but somehow missed the mark. Im not digging the Heists, lack of paydays, or all the character switching. Id prefer to play as one player with a solid story that sent me on crazy over the top violent missions. Forget the boring tasks like shopping for masks, clothing, etc.. UGH!

The problem is Saints Row has a lot more silliness & satire, Just Cause 2 was more action packed and fun than GTA4 and I expect JC3 will outclass GTA5 on those fronts too. I think my big problem with Trevor is I know a couple of people like him and to be honest I avoid them like the plague, they're just not nice people.

GTA's from 1 to San Andreas I really enjoyed, 4 was a little off mark but picked up with EFLC, 5 does lack a lot and I agree on character switching, it's why I didn't enjoy Baldurs Gate etc, I like to have 1 character not 2 or 3+. GTA5 could really use community support to get more content in there.

Graphically it's pretty good, will get better once the mods catch up with it like they did 4.

The GTA 5 online community will slow down as all games do after the honeymoon period but it will be in a healthy state for years, I can assure you that. I know of PC gamers who literally only play Rockstar games, they were playing GTA 4 up until the day GTA 5 came out.

I played a little of Saints Row The Third, but never could really get into it for some reason, but I loved the Just Cause games.

Some of my fondest single player gaming memories are from GTA3, Vice City and San Andreas. San Andreas was probably my favorite, but every time I hear an 80's song on the radio I start thinking Im Tommy Vercetti all over again. LOL

And yeah just to be clear, I would not want anything to do with a real life Trevor. LOL! He's a blast to play as in the virtual world, but IRL....yikes!

I wish they had put in some gangs and gang territories into GTA5 like they had in GTA3. It would be cool knowing that when you went into some parts of the city you would have to fight just to get back out alive.

there is gang attacks, they are just handled differently

if you go to grove street and shoot one of the black dudes, or even just bump into them a few times, they will all start firing on you gang style

I don't even know how you can compare Just Cause and Grand Theft Auto.

I mean look at the cities in Just Cause 2, the buildings look like lego's. The city doesnt look realistic at all. It is the definition of a facade. It has none of the dynamism that GTA does. There is nothing going on at all.

You seem salty.

Its true. This could have been a classic, you may as well play the original San Andreas from 2006 instead. And even if GTA IV was all serious at least it focussed on a single character with a solid set of supporting characters not what Rockstar has done here. I've played and finished V and likely will never replay the single player campaign. Its that bad. At least there is the Witcher III and er 2015? Actually where are the other AAA games?

Same in Grapeseed, those rednecks dont take kindly to being carjacked or shot at. Id still rather have some gangs that were aggressively hostile rather than just being defensive.

PS- Id love to be able to kill Lamar, I cant stand that guy. Ive been wanting to waste him since the first mission, please tell me that can happen later in the game. LOL

One time when I switched to Franklin it showed him and Lamar playing basketball. I ran over Lamar afterward because yeah, he's annoying. Rolled over his body a few times for good measure.

After a while I get a text that says "You're paying for my hospital stay homie" or something like that and I lose $10k (or $5k, can't remember). You need him in a later mission so I'm pretty sure he's invincible.

anytime your being chased by cops go through that area. They pick off cops for you usually.
