Movies are 24FPS, which is well below the 50FPS you can tolerate.

Movies have motion blur which helps. Also, interpolation techniques are more viable on movies since you don't have to worry about input lag. Also, it's possible to lock the display to 24 fps (or a multiple of it).

Yeah since I've moved to SVP it's a one way traffic for me. I can't even think of watching a movie at default 23.99 now!

I may have been a little hasty in my previous posts about being disappointed with the game. After finally getting some time to really sit down and play today, the story line has picked up. Now its feeling like a real GTA game and Im totally hooked again. I just hope Its not going to suddenly end and leave me hanging like some of the earlier story lines.

Oh, and now I see another Lester assassination mission is showing up for Franklin, so maybe I can still earn some decent cash in the stock market after I finish the main story. :D

You only need to do the first one as that moves the game forward. All the other can and should be done after the last heist.

Unfortunately I already did several before reading in here about how to make the big money. :(

Edit: Just read a guide about them, I only have the last one left. LOL

Yeah man, do as many as side missions as you can. Make the game stretch as much as you can. I didn't do that, and as the main campaign is finished I have zero interests to do those side missions any more :(

That will be the only determining factor for me. I heard PS4 did it better, but not dropping the money for an entire console for one game, so I'm hopeful for PC. But I played on PS3 and it was awful. Couldn't even jump to one other car just to see what it was without my old car disappearing, or cause a pileup and douse it with gasoline without having at least 90% of them disappear before you're done.

Ruined not only the immersion, but a ton of hours of fun factor for me. I stopped playing specifically because of it.
Well, I got it. And much to my dismay cars still disappear when I turn my head. Hopefully someone makes a mod that fixes this someday.

I dont have that problem at all, my cars stick around unless I completely leave the area for a while. Just to be sure I just now drove a car to a busy intersection and blocked two lanes, then ran across the street and jacked two semi tractor trailers to completely block the intersection. I had to fight and kill one semi diver causing the cops to show up, after running around amongst the mayhem ducking the police for a while I climbed on top of my original car and started tossing grenades into the sea of backed up traffic. Good times! LOL

Not sure if it matters but I have all my Population Density, Population Variety, and Distance Scaling sliders maxed.

Why do the shadows flicker so much whenever the camera moves? It happens with my AMD 7950 and my Nvidia 970.

https://youtu.be/KYVn7B4mtpM

Very apparent @ 0:25 on the big tree shadow, and a few others along the sidewalk.

This is with 4x TXAA enabled.

Ambient occlusion and FXAA both cause flickering.

Shadow quality is very important for reducing flickering too.

FXAA isn't enabled there. It's 4x MSAA + TXAA

Shadow quality is set to highest, softest, with high resolution shadows enabled in the advanced options menu.

Here's a better video that shows the issue:
https://youtu.be/3RgqMbNNjNU

It only really manifests in the daytime. The image quality seems to get more stable the darker it is in the game. At night the image quality is pristine.

Edit: Shadows are on Sharp, not Softest

Try experimenting with turning AO off, and changing the shadow settings to different settings. Try 8x MSAA and see if it fixes it. If all else fails, use DSR.

It's characters like Lamar that make me hate some of the GTA releases. Being able to just shoot him would make the early game much more bearable.

What bugs me most about the character they created is that every time Franklin gets an opportunity he acts like you aren't allowed to do better and want more. In fact the entire group of people in the hood call Franklin a traitor and stuff. I just really don't like that attitude at all. Especially when later in the game they beg Franklin to save Lamar because he got himself setup to be killed by the ballers and when Franklin does it, Lamar has the balls to tell him he shouldn't have come and he sold out his friends by moving out of the hood etc. He even asks for money and then complains that Franklin didn't give him enough money.

My god I would have liked the option to kill him.

The real problem is it sounds pretty accurate.

getting crashes on my gtx 980 but had zero issues on my 970 scc2 and the old gtx 570 and 6950.

tried lowering clocks below factory settings and still crashes. Card is stable at 1400 boost on everything else so that is kind of strange.

Just switched back to the 970 and its been stable for an hour. So weird. I dont want to RMA a card because of one game. So weird. Now all my gaming time is troubleshooting. BAH

threw the 980 into another i7 and testing that now. bah.

did some save trading after the second and third assasinations and already over 2.0 billion so trying to spend all I can before buying into the last stock.

Once you get the hang of it and have over 400 million 5 percent gains on stocks over a save or two really add up.

Wish there was more property to buy.

Its like they added all these mechanics into the game and barely touched them. Why so few car races? Why so few properties? Why so few choices in hair? Why even offer options when they are so few.
