I’m old enough to remember when even speaking Barron Trump’s name was unacceptable. Surely republicans will be up in arms about this.

Maybe up in arms about how unfairly Time and Greta are to our great president who is the best president who ever presidented in the history of the universe.

Don't want to piss off China tho... Maybe the person of the year should have been El Presidente Xi for managing to strong arm the west into a sort of soft compliance with Chinese censorship.

Another idea would have been another "ideal" person: The Whistleblower. People with that kind of moral core, that are willing to put a target on their back to make sure that whats hidden sees light, I honestly don't know how they do it.

Sort of what I’m thinking
How much debt does the new owner of Time have to China?

Ha Ha that's great. Time magazine's Annual person of the year joke was funny for a change. I approve.

Just saying there is a question of who is the "whistleblower".

Can you tell me without a doubt?

Can you find one source with integrity suggesting Schiff is the "whistleblower". The only time I've heard anyone even suggest that Schiff is the whistleblower is you here in this very thread.

The messenger is never good enough for people. And in this case, instead of taking action to alleviate the effects of climate change, we're quibbling about the mascot.
The whole Greta thing has a pretty good meta-commentary associated with it too. You can actually pick out the people that are the problem rather than the solution by just identifying who has more interest in attacking her as a person/mascot rather than understanding that the message was the whole point of it. They will never listen to the message, and never agree to what needs to be done.

"If you're not with us then you're against us!11one!!!"

Great logic there - you guys are definitely not going to alienate yourselves.

Honestly, I'd rather alienate you that grow old knowing that I'll likely witness the apocalypse.

You cannot reach some people, you are one of those people.

I have to say, BdB is so out of touch with his choice quote in his tweet:
Newsflash BdB - you're part of the problem - people that talk big, but do jack shit (or even stand in the way of progress).

HK's extreme income inequality actually results in less freedom. Have fun living in a tiny shared apartment if you're not well off.

Yeah... 20 years from now when a giant climate change induced tidal wave turns New York City into a swamp, people can proudly hold up their soaked copies of Time magazine from 2019 and scream "WE TOLD YOU SO!". Because, as we all know, that's WAY more effective than coming up with actual solutions to the climate change problem or at least building a damn flood wall to protect the city.

You can always tell when conservatives know they are doing something wrong when they blame liberals for making them do it.

The conservative morons that don’t accept climate science don’t listen to liberal or even unbiased sources anyway as they consider them all part of the mystical liberal conspiracy against them. What really needs to happen is conservatives need to clean up their own house. They created these morons by lying to them for decades, now they need to tell them the truth.

Climate change is real and mankind is responsible for basically all of it. (Potentially more than 100% of it) That’s what science says. Time for conservatives to accept science.

People have come up with solutions, nobody wants to implement them because they're too expensive/require too much change/climate change isn't a thing. So we continue to make the rounds of 'climate change is a thing!' 'great, how do we fix it' 'do these things!' 'nope' 'climate change is a thing and is now getting worse!' ...ad infinitum.

Also, stuff like what Greta is doing is probably by far the most effective thing she could be doing with her time. Planting trees is pointless, building some section of wall is a waste of time.

We need massive action on a national and global scale. The political action is the most important action.

You do understand there is an actual law that requires the identify to be protected don't you?

Well can you Quote that law and provide a reference to it?

Others disagree with you.

https://www.npr.org/2019/11/06/7764...ower-experts-say-it-would-not-violate-any-law

"There is no overarching protection for the identity of the whistleblower under federal law," said Dan Meyer, a lawyer and the former executive director of the intelligence community whistleblower program. "Congress has never provided that protection."

Whistleblower law "provides no protection"
There is a patchwork of whistleblower protections under federal law. The specific framework that applies to the whistleblower who filed a complaint against Trump is outlined in the Intelligence Community Whistleblower Protection Act of 1998.
The law bans retaliation against an employee for blowing the whistle on perceived wrongdoing. It requires the inspector general to keep the lid on the whistleblower's name, but it does not stop a member of Congress, a president or anyone else from identifying a whistleblower.

Your Turn ....

I wonder if the people bagging on Greta actually are aware that all available polling puts the under 40 generations here in the US squarely on her side wrt climate change.
