Fox News made a mistake and allowed comments on their article. Comments are now disabled, but what I read I cannot un-read. It is sickening what Fox News readers had to say about a teenage girl.

But remember, they're only that way because Democrats did X and it's Democrats that need to return to civility, because personal responsibility [for other people].

Perhaps Trump will have another fake cover printed out to soothe his fragile ego.

It's ridiculous that we as a society can't even take some freaking baby steps towards reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Should have been the whistleblower.
Did you see the story on the Boeing whistle blower who went public a few days ago? He was head of the 737 development/production team at Boeing and he warned the brass about very concerning major problems in the manufacturing facility for 737's TWICE in the 3 months leading up to the 2 crashes. Seriously, I think it makes sense to avoid flying Boeing if possible. Boeing's public reactions sound about as trustworthy as those of the current federal administration's (i.e. total BS).

Toss up between Greta and the Hong Kong protestors. I don’t understand the vitriol directed towards Greta and her activism.

Tribalism - Republicans are against action on climate change and Greta is for it. Therefore she must be attacked.

While Hong Kong's fight against Chinese oppression is a great candidate, I agree, when people look back at this time 50 years from now our inaction on climate change is most likely what they will remember.

She also represents everything US conservatives despise—she’s young, female, not rich, and she hails from a liberal European socialist democracy. She also can’t be labeled an “elite” or hypocrite wrt her words vs. her actions.

No, you didn't explicitly say it. You're just pointing out stuff... Kind of like JAQing off.

No. Im just saying the solution is not as simple as cleaning up the environment. Sometimes the solution can be worse than the cause. Fact is, science is always changing. We need to roll slowly and cautiously.

Not sure if you are able to follow, but I was commenting on an OT comment by another poster.

The poster you were responding to was specifically talking about reducing green house emissions. Which BTW is specifically what the subject of this thread is calling for. Your post was addressing particulate pollution. So I ask again what was your point and how did it relate to the topic?

It is frankly astonishing to me that conservatives are still trying to peddle this bullshit after three decades of inaction.

The science on what causes climate change is EXTREMELY well established and what we need to do to address it is common knowledge. We need to move extraordinarily quickly now because similarly dishonest arguments by conservatives since the 1980's have prevented effective action on limiting global warming when we still had a chance to mitigate most or all of the worst effects.

Now that we've wasted 30-40 years by listening to conservative we no longer have the luxury of moving slowly.

Meh. she goes around yelling at people to do something. Meanwhile, there are lots of people actually trying to do things that never get any credit because they would rather get shit done than yell at people who drive their SUVs to a rally and hold up disposable signs and also don't do anything about it.

nothing great will ever happen until each of us addresses the demand side. yelling at oil companies for producing the energy you use is just stupid. use all that mental power to reduce your energy consumption.
