I concur, it's getting pretty good. The first 5 episodes or so were too packed. The pacing is a lot better, now, and they aren't trying to squeeze in future known characters just so you know they'll be there (FI, every character could have been introduced like Ivy was, and it would have gone fine).

I did a marathon watching session this weekend. As a cop show it doesn't really hold up and as a superhero show it breaks cannon too much for me. So I'm not a big fan.

When is this supposed to be taking place?

The reason I ask is they portray it being awhile ago with how young bruce and the detective is and the lack of decent computers as you see typewriters often yet they have semi-modern cell phones of around 10 to maybe 15 years old.
they are obviously not being strict with the time period, a la terry gilliam. it looks to me as a cross between the early 60s (old gothic buildings and dark dirty alleys) and early 80s (cellphones, bad computers). so, like a fantasy 70s, but without disco.

I'm still watching and I like it a lot. I had horrible expectations for it when I first saw trailers. Glad I've been proven wrong.

definitely hit the stride quicker that shield although that's really started to come around this season.

Ditto. I will admit I in part wanted to watch it just to see how cringe worthy it would get, prior to cancellation in the 1st season; but it un-cringed fairly quick.

Good episode. That ending scene was shot just like sopranos. How many times do we have to guess who the villain in the episode is? Haven't they done this a lot?

So Gotham turned out to be pretty decent and the "cancel it after the 3rd episode!" cries were unwarranted? I'm shocked I tell you!

I'm glad the people here aren't in charge of TV programming. Every series would be 1/2 season after being cancelled before it was able to hit its stride.

Story is getting more interesting, but the overacting (gestures, faces) keeps bugging me. I understand that these are all intentional to make it feel more like it's scenes from a comic book, but I'm just really bothered by them. Obviously I'm still watching, but man they're so annoying!
