Oil Thugs raking in even more billions than ever before:

Oil Refining’s Fortunes Rise

Profits are flowing at most refineries, especially those close to the newly drilled Midwest and Southwest shale oil fields and to Gulf of Mexico ports.

Those operations make up roughly three-quarters of the country’s refining sector. The refiners are buying up fleets of railroad cars to connect with new shale fields, and investing heavily in new pipeline terminals, storage tanks and equipment to produce diesel for Europe and Latin America.

Now a new drilling boom in South Texas is delivering local crude oil several dollars a barrel cheaper than international prices. Another domestic drilling surge, in natural gas, has produced a 60 percent drop in domestic prices over the last four years.

The drilling boom has allowed many refiners to buy crude at a huge discount — sometimes $20 or more a barrel — below international benchmark prices. That is especially true for refineries that operate in the core of the country, where there is a glut of crude from the North Dakota Bakken shale formation because of insufficient pipelines.

The price advantage of United States refiners over their foreign competitors helped the country last year become a net exporter of refined petroleum products for the first time since the late 1940s, producing nearly $10 billion in annual revenue from daily net exports of 370,000 barrels a day of gasoline and diesel.

Still, the refinery comeback does not necessarily mean lower prices at the pump for consumers, since oil prices are determined by global markets.

Energy experts note that the refinery business has been prone to expensive accidents, including the Chevron refinery fire in California in August that helped cause gasoline prices to shoot up in some parts of the state to over $5 a gallon for regular grade.

Some critics argue that growing exports are one reason supplies shrank in California

The low natural gas prices are helping all the refineries, even less fortunate ones far from the new oil fields. For Valero, the fall in gas prices since 2008 now accounts for annual savings of more than $1 billion.

“This is a huge competitive advantage,” said William R. Klesse, Valero’s chief executive and chairman. “The change in oil and gas production is the biggest thing in my career, and I’ve been through the Arab oil embargo, price controls, the Iraq-Iran war, the price break in 1986, and the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.”

Nope

Still don't bother me.

As soon as my ribs heal I'll be back on the bike saving gas.

It survived the wreck better than I did.
Wow, you really are learning-disabled. Generally, when people have a near-death experience on their motorcycle they stop riding (particularly if it was indicative of a lack of skill/dexterity, etc. like yours was--should tell you you're not fit to be on one). Then there are those who get back on and the family attends their funeral a while later.

Dave you may want to consider learning a new trade.

Unconventional Oil and Gas Production Supports More Than 1.7 Million U.S. Jobs Today; Will Support 3 Million by the End of the Decade, IHS Study Finds

“New energy reality” contributes to energy security while boosting jobs in a period of economic uncertainty

The jobs created tend to be high quality and high paying, given the technologically innovative nature of unconventional oil and gas activity. Workers associated with unconventional oil and gas are currently paid an average of $35.15 per hour—higher than the wages in the general economy ($23.07 per hour) and more than wages paid in manufacturing, wholesale trade and education, among others.

Lets see you drive on Florida pulverized coral gravel and test your skill/dexterity on it.

FRANKENSTORM: The Mother Of All Snowicanes Is Barreling Toward New York City

The hurricane could blend with a snowstorm to create havoc before Halloween, becoming a "snor’eastercane.

AccuWeather Alex Sosnowski also warns an inland storm could result in "coastal flooding, flooding rainfall, high winds, downed trees, power outages, travel mayhem and even Appalachian snow" from Boston to DC (including New York City).

Some even say the financial impact of this "mega-storm" worse than the Perfect Storm, the deadly storm immortalized by a George Clooney movie. The Weather Channel's meteorologist Jim Cantore is completely freaking out about the storm on Twitter.

Crude ends higher as refined products rise on storm threat

The storm is a combination of Hurricane Sandy, now in the Caribbean, an early winter storm in the West, and a blast of arctic air from the North. They're predicted to collide and park over the country's most populous coastal corridor and reach as far inland as Ohio.

One of the more messy aspects of the expected storm is that it just won't leave. The worst of it should peak early Tuesday, but it will stretch into midweek, forecasters say. Weather may start clearing in the mid-Atlantic the day after Halloween and Nov. 2 in the Northeast, Cisco said.

"It's almost a weeklong, five-day, six-day event," Cisco said Thursday from NOAA's northern storm forecast center in College Park, Md. "It's going to be a widespread serious storm."

This site takes members posting baseless personal attacks and lies to a whole new level.
Following your lead, "oil thug who hates America". You act like a disrespectful prick to everybody who disagrees with you, and this is what you reap. I honestly thought you enjoyed the abuse, though, since you give it out so readily yourself.

The gas price rocketed from 8.5 cents to 9.1 cents per mile?! Outrageous!

Meanwhile, depreciation, maintenance, and insurance are many hundreds if not a thousand cents per day.

Refinery Outages Push Up Gasoline Prices…Again

Hurricane Sandy is providing a fresh lesson in how refinery outages can push up gasoline prices. Not that a fresh lesson is needed after months of such problems.

Gasoline futures were up 3.5% in recent trading this morning, after rising nearly 4% late last week as Sandy approached.

Fires and explosions from California to Venezuela have already damaged refineries that feed the U.S. market, helping push up prices at the pump despite the end of the summer driving season. In fact, prices had just started to recede.

But if the current rise in gasoline futures is any guide — and since futures basically represent the wholesale price that makes sense — the recent decline at the pump may not last.

You would think... A buddy of mine has hit deer 2 times on his cycle out in the country and he still rides.
