Well, we've been in Afghanistan for 18 years. Vietnam was a struggle, and it isn't like we left with a resounding victory. Also the U.S. government is US. Asking Americans to drop bombs and shoot at other Americans is not the same as all out war with another country. A good deal of the armed forces probably leans rights and wouldn't want to enforce an attack on the 2A. I think you're looking at this as too binary of a situation.

It was easy to buy into Trump. He puts America first, I appreciate that. The truth is, I think Trump is pretty good, but what pushes me in that direction more than anything is how far gone the left is today. While I don't really agree with Beto, I wonder what happened to all the guns that fell under the NFA in 1934. The new rules made legal ownership extremely cumbersome & expensive. I rather suspect a lot of people just gave them up rather than take their chances in keeping them. I also doubt there was much effort to confiscate them, either. What it accomplished was to prevent further proliferation of such weapons. Modern designs like AR's & AK's didn't exist at the time but I suspect they would have been restricted in similar fashion had they been.
