I'm having a good time playing this game. I got used to the mechanics finally. Only problem is I have played HZD so many times I keep trying to utilize that control scheme. Even tho its a "railed" game for the most part I find the somewhat openness of the game fine. The kid is becoming a whining brat but whatever. I try to do all the secondary puzzles as I com across them to avoid a massive second play through.
The kid does get annoying and he stays this way throughout but the bond between krstos and the kid does gradually happen. There is a confusion with the game being somewhat linear but also open at the same time. Mainly because the story progression pushes you forward so you have to decide when you can/want to explore otherwise you just end up going story misison to story mission.

I haven't read many comments in here in a while for spoiler purposes, but man this game is fucking fantastic. I had trouble putting it down last night at 11:30pm but I had to go to sleep. I had been on since 9:30 and had no clue it had been 2 hours.

And this game must be long as shit or something. I am probably like 6-8 hours in and I still have only been to the light realm and have made my way back to the initial area where I have to go up the mountain more. There's like 5 or 6 or whatever more realms that I have yet to even touch. And I'm not bored in the least.

I will say that the orange marker on where to go, whenever a new one comes up in an open area, it's basically a "dont go that way until you look around everywhere" marker for me. I've been exploring a ton outside of the main quest. I've only seen 2 of those "side quest" things pop up from the brothers, in the sense they have marker on the map of where they want me to go, and I'll probably do one of those after I finish the current story part I'm on now where I'm inside the mountain.

Game is so great. It's times like this I wish I was a loser with no responsibilities so I could sit in my HT and play this for hours on end.

So many side areas to explore. I'm currently making my third? circle around the damn lake.

Also, some of the realms seem to be optional, based on finding the ciphers. The fire realm was helpful for upgrading even though I got stuck at the elite.

I forgotten about the fire realm. I advanced after I did horrible over there the first time. Then I forgot to go back and grind for more upgrades. I think in too close to the end now to go back there.

I am roughly at the same point. I have done a few side quests,
found one Dragon and the other trapped giant Ogre fight was great!

I haven't been able to get back to this terrific game but might be able to jump into it later tonight.

This game is taking up all my spare gaming time. Hell, I've been playing every morning this week before I get ready for work! Great game.

Wonder if I am too close to the end to go back and find it. Haven't been able to play any games at all this week. I really would like to complete more side quests but from the beginning the whole progression vs exploration component has been confusing for me.

there are some things that can only be done after you finish the main story

I didn't watch the last part since I just got to that part in the game, but it's pretty funny at least up until then.

Shame this yet another exclusive like RDR. F that practice.

Exclusives have been a thing since the NES and Master System. It’s nothing new at all and complaining about that is pretty lame. Exclusives is why people buy the console. Also this game is made by a studio owned by Sony. Not unlike Halo is made by a studio owned by Microsoft. Halo won’t be on ps4 either.

lol God of War has always been a PlayStation-only franchise... being surprised and/or upset that this trend keeps going is a massive fail.

Its exclusives that sometimes and well most of the time sell the consoles. I can't wait for red dead redemption 2. It's also why I ended up getting a switch since there are games you will never be able to play on other systems.

Can anyone tell me how far I am from the end? I've got the key to Tyr's door. Looked for more side quests but I still got nothing and only thing left is to defeat a Valkyrie which I still can't do.

I did find another side mission where you are sent to destroy Thor's statue so I already did that one.

Shame that you're too poor to afford a PS4.

Totally uncalled for, and these
types of insults are not allowed here.

Also noticed two users liked this comment prior to my
warning. However, any more "likes" from anyone will
result in infractions being given.

Eh...I guess maybe 75% through the story maybe.

It's crazy how much larger this game is compared to any of the previous God of War games.

That's what I was surprised about a bit too. I guess it just shows how the developers realized that gaming has changed and that action games can be larger in scope. There are far fewer of the moments where you are fighting huge enemies with the cinematic kills like previous games but I think I like this better.

Like all other God of War games, this one is fantastic. I'd say second best in the series for me. Just really enjoyed it, hoping for some additional content.

I played for probably close to 5 hours over 2 sessions yesterday, and I just BARELY progressed the story. I spent most of the time just exploring and doing 2 or 3 side quests, and one of them I randomly found from exploring. And the entire time I wasn't bored at all.

Once a story checkpoint is on the map in a new area, I basically go everywhere BUT the orange diamond so that I can be sure I have as much resources as possible before progressing the story. It's been a blast thus far. I think I'm like 12-14 hours into the game and I'm guessing I'm only like 1/2 done at this point.

I played a lot yesterday. My early complaints were definitely just impatience on my part. I'm not sure how many hours in I am but I just got the black rune.

I am a little past this point. A helluva ride so far.
