God of War (PS4)

It's sitting in my car right now, I'll be playing it later when I get home. My buddy got it last night preloaded so he played and said it's pretty awesome. Not exactly one huge open world but more like big open sections you explore.

After seeing it got great reviews I'm hoping it delivers.

Just played the first 15 minutes or so during halftime. Holy shit this game is going to be fucking incredible. The quality of this game is like on a whole new level. Like holy shit. The sound in this game is fucking ridiculous too. The music gives me goosebumps and is just PERFECT for the setting of the game. Damn I cannot wait to dig into this game deeper wow.

I got home at like 3pm and put the game in my PS4 just to install it and it downloaded a 1.10 update at the time too.

Then when I went to play it at like 9pm for that short while I saw it added the 1.11 patch to downloads and downloaded it lol. At least they are on top of things right now and pushing out fixes that quick. I'm about to get into it though since the Wizards game just ended. WIll report back.

And this game is absolutely nothing like HZD IMO, at least not yet. It's pretty damn linear, at least so far. I'm like 2 hours in.

Yea it pretty good. The graphics and atmosphere, the whole new perspective where you are much closer to kratos now so all the combat is in your face. Since I haven't played god of war in a while I kind of suck right now. The combat is pretty decent, lots of evading and parrying needed so far.

Story seems mysterious too and it's put together very nicely so far. I do find kratos voice acting or lines could be better or have more emotion but I guess it's not supposed to.

I think Kratos voice acting and lines fit his character perfectly. Even prior to this game, basically all hope is lost in his mind, and from the get go, you see nothing has changed, other than he has this little boy that he has to protect. This isn't a spoiler because I haven't beaten it, but I'm assuming we're going to see a change in his personality towards the kid as the game goes on. To me it is pretty obvious it's coming. I feel like there is going to be a scene very similar to the "deer scene" (that was in the trailer) where you see him about to put his hand on the kids back, but he pulls back, except he doesn't pull back and he's going to embrace. We're going to see him transform before our eyes.

AND PLEASE DO NOT SPOIL ANYTHING THAT I JUST TALKED ABOUT WHETHER I AM RIGHT OR WRONG IF YOU KNOW HOW THE STORY PLAYS OUT!

it opens up once you get to where i am

you should have noticed a cpl areas you cant go yet cause they are locked due to you not having the ability needed to open,

but even then its not a freely open as HZD

Yeah I noticed at least one area like that. It kind of reminds me of Metroid Prime in the "openness" sense. Like sure it's open world, but it's pretty linear and obvious in which direction you have to go.

I'm playing on the PS4 pro. Also on a 4k tv so it looks very nice. My friend has the regular PS4 so I don't know how it looks on his yet.

I'm at the beginning part where you have to fight a bunch of draguars and it's pretty rough. The axe does not do as much damage as I thought it would. But it's still early and haven't received any upgrades yet.

I'm playing on Pro @ 1080p on 'performance' mode. Looks fantastic, even blown up to 120".

Once you get the hang of the controls, the combat becomes really fun and you can create some nice combos where you start with the axe melee attack, throw it mid combo, beat them with your fists, then press triangle to pull it back to your hand (and that hits them as well if they are in the axe path) and finish em off.

Will it look grainy if you are on 4k and choose the 1080p mode? My guess is comabt will be a little faster? But I like the visuals too much.

It's a matter of getting used to the combat again after not playing for a while. Made it past the draguars and now there is this dude with purple health in a cave that kills me in one hit. I just want to get that treasure chest that's in there.

Definitely having a lot of fun though. Can't wait to get all the combos down.

You're gonna have a blast. I played some more today then took a nap after the gym so I could play it again before going out tonight. I haven't even opened up the areas fully.

I'm glad I went with the default difficulty, I almost went with the 3rd one. I've died quite a bit already, I would probably be frustrated had I done the harder difficulty.

Does anyone know if there is anyway to "un engage" enemies? Like this big boss, it's forcing me to focus on him and locks onto him so I can't like run away or turn the camera angle until I'm far enough away. it's kind of annoying when I'm trying to run and grab health orbs but can't get there fast enough or see the exact direction I have to go.
