I have everything I need onboard so that isn't a problem. Ans if one day I need more PCI I may just put the 60mm fan again.

Has anyone ever tried something like this adhered to the gpu with some arctic silver adhesive and some RAM sinks?

That's a very noisy solution...

36dBA isn't too bad, I've a 1U bolted to my 9700p and I can't hear it.... above the case and CPU fans :p Though it's easy to get a rheo (or build one out of a ~10ohm pot) for the fan to quiet it down for machines targeted towards quiet. The cooling capacity of a 1U sink is higher than most any aftermarket GPU cooler and only takes an extra slot. That Giant 4 is nuts :D Thanks for sharing with us

Too Ginorumous. Too elaborate for a video card cooling solution for my taste.
Stock HSF works for me.

You call that noiseless. How can we judge just by looking at it. I wonder why you arent using the Blower fan to add beauty.

Any how, it sucks!!! Lol. My TNT-2 was more beautiful. Lol

Yep, I put something very similar on my old R8500. It turned out to be a waste; I went from 285 on the core to 300. It was very heavy and ended up slightly warping my card over time. It was also much much louder than the stock fan. I also added ramsinks, and got 10mhz more on the memory overclocks.

McArra, what kind of overclocks did you obtain with that beast? How do they compare to the stock cooling? Thanks.

If it effectively cools the core side of the card then it will disable the functionalitiy of the heatpipes and back side heatsink. A better utilization of an additional fan would be behind the back side (a bit below in-line with the exhaust fan.

I'll try to answer everything....

1- It's very silent and the blower is something I hated, I did never installed it 'cos I gave it to a guy just the same minute I bought the cooler...

2- I love silence.

3- My card isn't good@OC'in. Stock cooler could only achieve 403Mhz, now I can push it to 418Mhz (Using ATitool in both cases with the actifacts tester). The memory reaches 365Mhz.

4- My case is a 3R-Systems AIR+ series with front temperature/fan control and 2x120mm case fans. Nice and silent while performing well. (can be noisy if I push the fans but I'm using them @40% more or less which is very silent).

5- The shim wasn't a problem, the cooler would fit perfectly.

6- The back plate gets hot so the pipes are working correctly.

I think I've answered it all :)

IMO is a waste of space, and a noisy way to cool down a card,... IMO

-i prefer water cooling solutions like ZALMAN RESERATOR1 , more cool and noise is 0db´s .

It's a silent way, the 120mm is very quiet (of course not as quiet as a watercooled system).
