Can that giant apparatus possibly cool that much more effectively than something less bulky, such as watercooling?

Furthermore, is it appreciably better at cooling than other 3rd party fans? And by appreciably, I mean 10 degrees or more of improvement from this vs. them.

I cannot see the point of packing your case full of heatsink. It seems like it would hurt cooling more than help it, given the obstruction to airflow.

Plus, it's not like the card needs that kind of cooling to function well or even OC....

I did it because I want a silent running rig, and it helps airflow as there is part not obstructed that pushes the cold air coming from the front up. Watercooling is very expensive, this is not. And I have achieves 7C less than with stock Giant III fan@lowest rpm , which was about 10C lower than stock cooler. So deffinetly there's a gain, plus less noise.
