i play on the hardest setting, no TCS or stability or ABS, manual gears..... its really not bad once you teach your left trigger finger not to pummel the brake button at every corner else you go off, wheels locked, into the nearest wall. makes a little more interesting too because the computer is much better than me at late braking, so it spices things up alot trying to defend the lead.

also without TCS i think practically any RWD with a decent handful of power and untuned suspension becomes a nightmare.....does anyone have any concise links to how to set suspension up? im not after fine tuning, i just need basic information to cure some bad handling.

i think doing the big weight reduction also fluffs things up as well...it might make your car accelerate quicker, but the reduced weight isnt taken lightly by the current suspension setup!

ie a guide that just says " excessive oversteer? - adjust this, this and this and put some rear wing on..."

apparently this game rocks hard with the racing wheel, i think i might buy one

hey jeff, where do you go to adjust the analog sticks? i hate how twitchy mine are, its almost impossible to drive smoothly unless your on the brink of losing traction.

It's in the Advanced Settings menu under Controller Setup. I reduced my dead zones per Jeff's suggestion, and it does help a lot. I am also getting better at finessing the throttle - I finished an entire series with the beastly Top Secret S15 without spinning once. It's tempting to mash the throttle, but you have much better control if you use a lighter touch.

Yep... you have to experiment a bit with the throttle and brake with new cars or after making some modifications. Try accelerating harder, if the car starts to move around or you hear the tires howling then you know that's too hard.

As with performance driving in real life, you have to learn to control the car before you can push its limits. If you don't learn where the line is, there's no way you can push the car to the edge and not cross the line into the gravel traps and tire barriers. 🙂 Real race car drivers don't start out balls to the wall in a new car and spin out and crash and work backwards to find how far they can push the car. They start slow and work their way up.

That's a nice job man, congrats.

How long did something like that take to make? I tried very VERY briefly on making some type of vinyl, but I didn't get anywhere after like 25 mins and stopped trying. I was following that tutorial about how to make Jokers female sidekick thats all over the net.

Took me 2 hours to make the Kirby and another 30 minutes for the rest of the car. It was the first thing i did when i bought the game haha.

Well, I took advantage of my free game "rental" from my new part-timer at Gamestop, and brought home Forza 2 yesterday. I've played a bit of it this morning, have unlocked a few cars in career, and earned some cash. The entire game feels like an extension of Gran Turismo 3, a game I probably put 50-60 hours into when it was released 6 or 7 years ago. I'm not quite the "hardcore" gamer that I used to be, but I can still see myself putting more than a few hours into this one, it's fantastic!

And after seeing the car vinyl installation scheme for myself, it makes all the car designs that I've seen previously that much more impressive.

Which view do most people use? Since they don't have the cockpit view, I put myself on the hood or whatever view they're calling it where you can just see the hood of your car. I think it makes for the most realistic (if you can have that) experience since you're almost inside the car, but what are other people doing?

Haven't been able to read all the posts sorry, but has anyone else had they X box 360 destroyed by Forza 2 here? On the Forza 2 forums there are hundreds who have had this happened and many who have had the Forza disc destroy replacement consoles as well...

Thats the view I use also. Although, if I werent using the racing wheel I would use a different view.

Forza is pretty much the only game I play one my Xbox. I havent experienced any problems.

The game is just starting to get old. It was a great run though, eventually the tracks are bound to get old. Im dreading going through all the endurance races.

I actually did get a red circle of death with my 360 booting Forza 2, but restarted it and it was fine. I bought the extended warranty, and frankly part of me hopes it will conk out so I can get one of the new ones with added cooling.

i get the opposit almost...

my 360 is slowly eroding my disc....the F2 disc has been in the box, then in the machine...thats it, and its gone from perfectly unblemished to having lots of really fine scratches in it, and annoyingly my drive will just give up mid way through a forza sesssion and next thing i know im racing in thin air with some trees and the back drop for company.....the track textures disappear completely

yeah i already got that, and the excel file to go with.....

did it on my Audi RS4.... i love that car, it sounds awesome and it seems to able to handle 500-600bhp no sweat. i went for a hard set up as per the excel calcs but it seems to understeer alot. ill try medium ans see what that does,

Anyone who's played this and GT4 too? Which do you prefer, obviously excluding graphics, how do the driving dynamics compare?

I can't wait for GT5 to come out! 😛

Since I put DiRT into my Xbox360 I haven't touched Forza. And now that I'm playing Darkness, it's going to make it that much harder to ever get back to Forza.

I'm at Level 30 in Forza 2 and it was starting to take a lot more time to make progress in that game, and the races are getting much tougher than before. So I may be completely done with Forza at this point.

Are the physics in the retail version of DiRT better than the ones in the demo? I thought the demo looked great but the cars' handling was ridiculous. That is the only thing keeping me from buying.

I tried this method of tuning on a couple different cars and found that my lap times were about 2 seconds slower than the default settings. In fact... I've yet to find a tuneup that works better for me than the default... I've tried adjusting lots of things, and nothing makes me faster, some just make me slower.

No it's the same. It's definitely VERY arcady, but it's a nice change of pace and it's a lot easier to just pick up and play. The graphics/lighting are incredible on some of the levels.

I'm not big on the rally races in that game though. I enjoy racing against the clock on the point to point races more than on the tracks with other cars.

It's a great game, but the demo is pretty much indicative of the rest of the game. Handling in the game as I said is very VERY arcady. The way the cars bounce around on the uneven terrain is kind of cool though.

But it has some cool/weird races. There are hill cimbs with Big Rigs and things that look like busses. The in the car view is prety damn cool too but it's hard to play from cause you can't see that much.

There's a new version for the calculations, so you might want to try those.
