Don't know how realistic it can be when the wheel can't even make a full revolution.

i don't know about nascar but F1 cars atleast have steering that doesn't rotate 360 degrees. i suppose at those highh speeds time spent rotating is gonna kill you.

Right. F1 cars and most open wheel cars don't do full rotations because the way the cars are designed makes it so you don't have to.

I did get a Forza 2 from off the shelf (I hate getting one off the shelf, I like opening all boxes meself and keeping the authentication sticker thing) and maybe someone stole the code :(.

it was a reserve only deal. If you didn't buy the copy you reserved you don't get the code. Don't feel bad, the car is trash and if you want it you can buy it from the auction house.

Boo, they normally give out reserve stuff with normal purchases. I didn't get a soundtrack CD with my copy of DDR Universe either, and I believe that one specifically said purchase and not pre-order. I didn't care much at first, but now after being unable to find L.E.D.'s Something Wonderful (my favorite song to "bust a move" to), I'm wondering if the CD has it :(.

Maybe I'll try Forza 2 out someday... I tend to buy a lot of games and play them weeks later for a tiny bit.

Ive been gone on vacation for awhile, I really need to catch up in career.

I can see where the GT and Forza fans differ now, at least to me. One big difference to me is that you seem to win a lot more cars a lot easier in Forza. It seems more setup to give you the right cars to win the next races, where in GT, you seem to hang on to your cars longer and keep upgrading them (at least in GT3, I didnt play 4 much). Its a much different way to play, and I would have to say it makes Forza an easier game. Although I will always give Forza applause for the ability to turn off or on certain aides, giving the game an extra spin to it. Forza also doesnt have licenses, which I have no idea how they were for you guys, but I thought they were just frustrating as hell on GT. But they do also give more playing time to the game.

I dont know. Right now, Forza just seems way easy, but that will probably change because im still in the lower end races.

Im gonna say again, I love my wheel with this game. Its just so much better to play with. And does anyone know if I could use my wheel with the original Forza running on 360?

Errr, correct me if I'm wrong but couldn't you sell the cars you won in GT for a decent price? You can't do that in Forza you get $100 for a $300,000 car.

So with respect to making money, I think Forza is harder.

well, finally forza came out in europe...ive played it and i have to say its easily the best racing game ive played. in fact, imo, with the wheel+pedals its one of the best games ive ever played. i love it :D

some people say the game's abit sterile (dunno if thats the right word), but what do you expect its motor racing, you're not gonna get missiles and shockwaves and stuff.

i totally recommend this game to anyone who is remotely interested in driving. get the wheel also, its worth the money...

So far I am really enjoying Forza 2 - the racing series are in many ways more interesting than those in Forza 1, and the physics and sound effects seem much better. I actually think the graphics look really good, even if they aren't state of the art - it seems to me that racing at 60 fps, it's not possible to really stop and smell the bump-mapping, as I'm too busy focusing on driving. It's a bit of a bummer not having an in-car view, though.

I just got over Level 20, and so far my favorite car, by far, is the Mine's Skyline GT-R R34 - that thing is a beast - the exhaust note is amazing. I just won the Top Secret S15, which is extraordinary but very hairy to drive. The Delta Integrale Evo is awesome too.

Ya, it was cool having the in car view in PRG3, but I didnt think it was really worth that much. It was cool how it made you feel part of the car, but it wasnt really the best option as it didnt have as good a view as just the straight on view. At least IMO. It would have been cool though.

Im in about the same place you are. I havent gotten those cars yet, at least not to my recollection, but I have the Nissan R938?(something like that), it gives the Top Secret S15 a run for its money. Whats really funny is taking this S class car back to the mid engine races that I hadnt done yet and blowing everything else out of the water.

Yeah, I used the R390 to win the mid-engine and "Big Block" series (it seems silly to me that it qualifies for anything calling itself a big block series, since it's only got a 3.9L engine, but hey . . .).

I just won the Lingenfelter 427 Corvette, and I defy anyone to drive that car without driver assists - it has 700 bhp and it's absolutely undriveable. It feels like you could leave a block-long burnout on a 2-3 shift. I haven't tried it with traction and stability control, but unless they work really well this car is pretty much worthless.

I have to say I'm pretty tempted to construct my own racing simulation setup like that, we just need another $100 rebate deal (both versions of the system) from Microcenter or something like we had last November/December (can't remember exactly when it was) :p

Picked this up on Saturday and played it through the weekend whenever I could. This game is digital car crack. It is very easy to lose track of time while you're tuning, painting, and racing in this game.

edit: Shouldn't this be moved to the console forum?

edit: been moved. Woohoo!

Ya, I gotta say ive used the R390 quite a bit, and I just love the thing. It corners pretty well, and I just love flying around turns.

I just got the Lingenfelter also. Im not good enough to turn off TCS, or ABS for that matter, so hopefully it will play better. I just wonder how fast this thing can go, its speed rating is 9!

These new forums are pretty nice.

In one of the Forza previews, some race drivers tried out the game and used their real life cars and tuned the cars in-game as close as possible to their real-life counterparts. They then ran through the game and were getting worse times than in real life. Then someone pointed out that they had TCS turned off in the game while it is actually turned on in the real cars. They turned TCS on and got times in the game similar to what they get on the track.

You should really try playing without stability and traction control - it's a whole different game, and much more fun and rewarding IMO. I actually leave ABS on, but I may try weaning myself from that as well.

Heh - My first shot at a collegiate themed paint job.

Not too happy with the script A. It was frustrating trying to manipulate the shapes that come with the game to create a more curvaceous A. Don't know how some of these do it but I'll keep trying. :)

You'd think they'd find a way to use Live! or Media Center Extender to import images into F2 for use in designs. They have built a really powerful set of tools, but in many ways they're very crude and hard to use.

Yep. I think they teased us a bit with Live Anywhere where they showed how you could make designs on your PC and put them on your car. Obviously that was a prototype/concept that didn't make the cut. Maybe somewhere down the line. <shrug>

Is that the Corvette that you win at some point?

If it is, I maxed that thing out and did the Corvette Challenge cup.

And let me tell you ... I have never been more frustrated with a racing game than I was with that cup. That corvette handles like absolute shlt. It's complete and utter garbage and makes me want to never even drive a real corvette in real life I was so frustrated heh.

And then after I finally beat that cup, what do I win? another crappy corvette! Although it's the race class corvette this time around so it handles much better.

The other corvette would spin out on any turns regardless of the degree of the turn, if you were giving it gas. It was so frustrating.

I love the game... it's the only reason I kept the Xbox 360 that I won and didn't sell it on eBay.

I play without ABS, TCS, and STM. I use an automatic transmission and braking only best line and drive with the windshield camera.

I don't mess with setups a whole lot unless there's a glaring problem... for example... the RSX-S has a buttload of understeer, so I bump the front tire pressure up to 32 and that pretty much takes care of it. Tuning setups is nice... but a "magical setup" won't work for you if you can't drive to begin with. I've posted a bunch of top 100 times... even some top 25 times with only tire pressures adjusted in events where full race suspensions can be used.

*EDIT* Another comment... I'm highly disappointed with the graphics at 720p. There are a lot more jaggies visible, there's a huge need for higher levels of anisotropic filtering... and despite claims, the game DOES NOT run at a steady 60 fps. Hell... I've seen the frame rate drop in menus.

I do like the photo mode, but I wish they didn't use such high jpeg compression... too much artifacting. I also wish they made the photos viewable from the Media blade of the Xbox Live Dashboard. Would also be nice if you could send them to a USB flash drive to take to a computer rather than having to upload them, then download them on a PC.

Yeah, that's the one. I tried it tonight with traction and stability control on, and it still really sucks - it somehow manages to understeer a lot and it's still a real handful.

I won the pug-fugly Guldstrand Corvette tonight in a muscle-car series, and that thing is actually pretty nice. Unfortunately I doubt it will be competitive in the Corvette series with that beastly Lingenfelter out there.

So I'm just below a level 30 in this game and I've noticed once I hit level 25, the leveling up started slowing down A LOT.

But I also think it has to do with the fact that I'm doing a lot of older races now (all of the *** HP races) and some of them you win only like 5000CR from.

The one thing that is really starting to piss me off is the AI. The AI cars will never EVER spin out or go off the track if they bump you or if you bump them. But every time I get bumped by them, it slams me off of the track. It's starting to get annoying in the races where 1 mistake can be the downfall of the race.

Also if anyone wants a tip for those *** HP races - I've been using the 1995 Toyota MR2. I think I first used it on the 150HP (it may have been the 250HP) one and just got all of the handling stuff up all the way so it didn't change the HP at all. Then I just continued to add 50HP to it for each race in that series. And let me tell you, that car rapes the other cars. I haven't really even been close to losing any of these races and I have 2 races left on the 450HP one.

Yeah... it's the power to weight ratio making those events easy for you...

As for the AI, I think it's quite realistic... control is they key. If you don't have your car under control 100% of the time you're going to end up in the dirt or wall eventually. The AI seems more stable on the track because they are... rarely will you see an AI driver on the verge of spinning out while they try to take a turn, bouncing between rumble strips.
