Trident, I think you would be amazed by the number of people who get to work just fine without a car.

I've ridden on Nokian studded tires for 2 seasons and they still look new. They cost me $100 for the set and I'm pretty sure they'll last forever. They've saved my ass a couple times - plus, it's really fun to take it out on the ice rinks around here at night and actually be able to stay up!

I use an old Polaris snowmobile jacket once it hits zero. Reasonably light and super warm. Ski goggles and a scarf and I'm all set.

Haha nice. makes me want to totally try it. I'm not even that far from work and there's not too many hills. Would be kind of fun to drive past cars getting stuck during blizzards. I'm guessing at first it's really cold but you probably warm up fairly quick from physical work. Think it would be a good way to wake up in the morning.

God Damnit. TridenTboy, do something useful and edit out that fucking sasquatch of a picture, would you?

Red - I just make sure to haul ass for the first mile or so and I'm usually sweating by the time I make it wherever I'm going. I've only given up and taken the bus home once - blizzard conditions with 8 inches of snow on the ground. First time the U of MN had canceled all classes in something ridiculous like 100 years.

If you have any questions, feel free to PM me. It's really not as bad as people assume it is.

I cannot move out. I believe that moving out will disqualify me as a dependent. I need to be a dependent in order to receive benefits and a free college education. Although if I could attend a university and move out/live in dorm/temporary moving out (No good universities in Vancouver, WA... I cannot attend ones in Portland) and still be a dependent that would be awesome. I don't think I can though, I am not sure.

Can't or won't? It's the latter, not the former.

You can still be a dependent when not living with your family.

I like how you ignored my previous post. That's fine, but it's clear that you only want to bitch and moan about how horrible your life is rather than doing something about it. You won't find any pity from anyone with that shitty attitude. Either get off your lazy ass or shut the fuck up. It's pretty simple.

You're in the Garage forum here with a ridiculously long thread talking about picking up a used car for $6k and being EXTREMELY picky about what models it can be and what features it needs to have.

$6k would pay for a year's rent at a decent apartment with roommates. If your life really sucks as badly as you say it is then you accept the fact that you're going to move out and that you're going to be poor. Either get a place close to your school so you can walk/bike or get a place farther out and buy a car that looks like crap but drives ok (cosmetic issues that bring down the cost but don't affect how it runs). Almost everybody goes through a part of their life where they poor. I had nothing during college and it really wasn't that bad. You just get used to what you need to do to get by.

You're a fucking retard.

The gub'ment considers you a dependent up through and including age 25, regardless of whether you live at home or not. I know this because I was living on my own trying to put myself through college and I couldn't get pel grants or loans because my income combined with my mother's income who lived several cities away was too much. So fuck you.

You're not fooling anyone.

You're a lazy, spoiled little shit who needs a Real Life enema.

Owned. TridenT, respond to this or STFU.

I have a free membership to the one at my college. I can workout at whenever there is not a class going. I'm trying to get someone to go with me because you can't push yourself if you don't have someone to spot you on some of the lifts. It's nice to have someone else there too.

I have a bike. It's a nice bike. I would ride it except it's mother-fucking insanely cold. It's been below 50F a lot. Hell riding at anything below 60F is just too cold for me because I don't have anything that keeps me warm.

Swing dancing.. I do it twice a week... Sunday and Saturdays...

I can and do talk to girls and guys, quite frequently. Girls just happen to not be physically attracted to me.

Hard not to when all you're told is that you're shit.

stop making fucking excuses and do something. Jesus christ.

I have motivation problems of my own. But I don't make excuses to not do something.

Can't exercise because nobody is pushing you? Uh... you might not push yourself to be dead tired at the end of working out, but doing something is far better than nothing.

Can't ride a bike when it's lower than 50ºF out? HAHA. What a whiny bitch. Put some layers on, or get cold-weather exercise gear (think: underarmor or similar products made for the cold), and ride.

So if it's below freezing, the roads are guaranteed to be frozen? Since when? It's 25ºF here in Columbus, roads are bone dry.

Look at Green River Community College it is one of the few CCs that have student housing. also nationally ranked. You can be a dependent while not residing at the same address. There are also those of us who do go to college without the govments free hand out money.

FASFA, get some...

The quarter starts in Jan. If you need a job I can put in a good word for you. Hit me up in PM for details. Hope to see ya here :)

I have applied for FAFSA for 2 years now.. I've not gotten it once. The first time they didn't even give me any numbers because I was probably too late AND too high of income. This time they gave me an EFC number and it was over 35,000. >.< So, I get nothing, again. Argh, FAFSA...

Wanting power windows, power locks, and maybe keyless entry(As in unlock/lock with a little key fob) is not being EXTREMELY picky. And yeah, I don't want to drive a Ford Focus, Dodge Neon, Pontiac Grand Am, or a VW Golf... >.> I've been looking at Toyotas, Mazdas, Hondas, Nissans, and all kinds of other cars... >.> Practically 9/10 car listings on craigslist is crap, at minimum.

It is being picky. It's your first car. There's plenty of time to get the car you really want. For the money you're willing to spend, $6000 you're not going to get a really nice car. You're going to get something that's been used but still reliable.

Beggars can't be choosers. I know plenty of people that drove giant POS cars for years (including myself) because they could not afford anything better. A shitty car + a shitty apartment + a shitty job is better than no job, no apartment, and no car.

I'm only wanting to get 4-cylinders because of fuel economy, but I have been looking... Also EVERYONE in that damn garage thread says, "Accords have glass transmissions..." So, I can't get an accord anymore. :/

Look at this shit I have to deal with everyday because my damn dogs won't move:

Then do something about it.

Look, you have a choice here. You can either wallow in the combination of self-pity, self-hatred, and self-loathing that you currently exist in, or you can do something about it. Honestly, it makes no difference what the something is, it just matters that you put one foot in front of the other and carry on with your life.

You might not consider yourself motivated, but one day you're going to realize three very important things.

1) Your life is yours. It belongs to you and that includes the successes and the failures. You must own what you do.

2) You only get one shot at this. There is no reset or undo button.

3) Action, any action, is better than inaction. Moving forward always brings new opportunities and new possibilities and the sooner you act, the sooner your life will change.

You do realize that this is why you're being ragged on here?

You're making a big deal about petty annoyances. You magnify everything in your own mind until it seems like the whole world is against you and that your life completely sucks.

You know what, though? Your life doesn't suck. It's all in your head...

Ooo and it's alright and it's comin' 'long
We got to get right back to where we started from
Love is good, love can be strong
We got to get right back to where we started from

Oh-ohhhhh
Do you remember that day
(That sunny day)
When you first came my way
I said no one could take your place
And if you get hurt
(If you get hurt)
By the little things I say
I can put that smile back on your face

Ooo and it's alright and it's comin' 'long
We got to get right back to where we started from
Love is good, love can be strong
We got to get right back to where we started from

A love like ours
(A love like ours)
Can never fade away
You know it's only just begun
You give me your love
(Give me your love)
I just can't stay away
I know that you're the only one

(Chorus)

WTF is that supposed to mean?

That you want to continue tap-dancing around the issue?

I wish people could get banned just for being a tool. Seems like Trident started this thread but hasn't even thought about the options that people are offering him. It's lose lose with him.

What's new? This has been the case ever since he joined these boards. Seriously.
