It's obvious that he is frustrated, he has 900$ worth of cards that aregetting owned by AMD's mid-range I would be upset too so chill out we all know both nVidia and AMD are working to get the best experience for their users.
It's too bad. If someone *really* feels that way, *definitely* dump the Nvidia 'Junk' and buy what will really suit you. i cannot imagine GTX 480 TriSLI - i'd be bitter too - just anyway. :p

My recommendation to the OP is to get HD 6990 QuadFire so we can hear complaints about AMD drivers for a change.
:\

I see "EA" on the DA II box and i believe i know where the real issues lie.

I was going to until I saw that it was just too much power for 2560x1600.

Don't make fun of my personal cessna! It cruises at 35.000 feet under a full GPU load and with some modifications I've made is just as fast as 580 tri-sli ;)

Considering how stagnate gaming graphics has become, unless something miraculously changes in the next seven months, a single GPU 28nm flagship is going to be all I'll need for my resolution.

Without a doubt. Groover, go eBay those 480's, they've caused you enough grief. Get yourself some quality 6970's and trifire or quadfire those.
Word.

i can't agree with you on the resolution. i will gladly take HD 6990 TriSLI - *except* it is as loud as GTX 480 SLI. And personally, that is where i draw the line. i can't imagine adding a third GTX 480; in fact, i am sending one to one of my fellow ABT editors to upgrade his graphics for SB testing.

Seriously, i think GTX 580 SLI is SUCH an unbelievable improvement over GTX 480 SLI there is no comparison. My 480s OC well also; but then so do my 580s

And i think by tomorrow you may have playable framerates. The guys at both Nvidia and AMD that write the drivers want to play DA II also over the the weekend.
:)

What part of Keys telling you there will be a driver release that addresses this issue didnt you understand? After his post you piling it on provided what exactly?

No offense to Keysplayer, but what he has done doesn't address the issue. Why does this happen? Is it because without optimizing drivers all games suck and don't run? Is it because DA2 is a poorly coded POS? Is it because AMD got to the game devs and it's been sabotaged to run like crap on nVidia? Is it nVidia's incompetence? If it is sabotage that's a concern for all of us and we need to be concerned.

Wow, I have a 450, so I guess I wont be able to play it. Bad luck, DA2 was on my list for this year.

At least the game looked good and was still playable, not so for DA2 + nvidia.

Really this is a doozy, you can't compare this to stuff like AA in starcraft or anything like that. Those were extra features that nvidia supported and AMD didnt. This is much worse the game doesnt work properly in its standard form.

So, it plays fine in DX9. DX11 just adds eyecandy, right? Just like AA adds eyecandy? How can they not be compared?

While you and the OP tear yourselves up (all in good fun of course) over the root cause of this atrocity, I'm sure others are glad to know that remedies to all the troubles in this game, AMD or Nvidia or Dev, are on their respective ways.
So don't worry about it so much. IMHO.

I think you might have missed some posts. Don't feel so persecuted. This is exactly how these threads go. Team A: is incompetent and team B: are cheaters. It just depends on your loyalty.

There is no difference between this game and HAWX2, except that the shoe is on the other foot. Rather than pointing fingers, we, as consumers, should be concerned how possible shenanigans like this effect us. There's just been a major shake up in upper management at AMD. This could very well not be your mother's AMD anymore. If both AMD and nVidia start sabotaging games against the other, we are the losers. The ones who spend their money and deserve to not have competitors detract from our investment to try and force us to buy their products.
Put it this way, someone needs help, what are you going to do?

a) tell them they deserve it.
b) tell them the reason why they deserve it.
c) tell them that there exist people who doesn't need help.
d) tell them that you don't need help.
e) discourge those who tries to help.
f) help them.

what is your call?

Hawk2 isn't the same as DA2. First, Hawk2 isn't TWIMTBP title. Second, AMD user can play at a good FPS, it is a comparison between 80 vs 100 FPS on some heavy tessellated scenes. DA2 is different. I am not claiming about sabotaging conspiracy, but there are no reason for the bad FPS. 10 FPS on cutscene on 580? Seriously? You can argue that there is nothing wrong all day long, but all you will get in return is your fanboy title and discredited name.

Keys on the other hand never jump into any threads and say "Hey Nvidia gears are fine, ditch your AMD gears bro" when others needed help. Granted he may not try as hard to help because he doesn't have exclusive access of communication to AMD, but when the ball is in Nvidia's court, he kicks it really hard. He didn't say "Users are dump, the game is fine, and the card rocks." He said, "I have sent request to Nvidia, and will keep you guys up to date." Do you see the difference?

As an user in need of help, they go around an seek for help. In here, there is atleast one person who tries to help. Unfortunately, this same person has been treated as a traitor because he helps. He give up his mod status just so he can help others.(and be treated like a normal poster, not a traitor.)

WHERE THE F@&# IS YOUR HEART? This is the point of the post you quoted. Did you miss that?

Groover I could have sworn that I just informed the participants of this thread that driver improvements for this game are on the way?
I was just wondering what the taunting is all about?

nya nya nya!! nvidia sux at Dragon Age! yeah, we're sticking to the man! wait, I use nvidia. crap!

keys, let it go. beta driver will be out by mon/tues and nobody will care. personally, I'm playing through DAO again right now. I played 20 min of DA2 and decided to play dao for "a few minutes" to refamiliarize myself with all the ins and outs, and at least for now I enjoy DAO more, anyway. maybe by the time I get into DA2 I'll have a 1gb+ gpu!

Cause AMD cards were still playable when you forced AA. Also, with SC2, AMD was lazy as they didn't add anything to the base game (which worked as it should). If this is a driver problem (I don't think its only the drivers I just think DA2 is coded poorly) then its borderline incompetence from nVidia to not have the game work as it should.

I do. Key tried his best to toward opinions/problems they have to Nvidia. What else do people expect? Where is the thank? Do people think Keys got 10k a month for doing that?

Interestingly, many ain't looking for a solution, but an opportunity to bash Nvidia. When SC2 came out, all AMD cards doesn't support AA. Instead of bashing AMD's incapability to release a driver in time, they accuse Nvidia for blocking AMD from using AA (search here in this forum.) Now DA2 came out and all Fermi based card experience high tax while running the game that never happened in any other Dx11 games before. They accuse Nvidia for their incapability to release a driver in time. Funny how they believed that the game is glitch free just because 6990 + its latest driver rocks it hard.

Mind you that AMD users can't even run the game without the latest driver. Ninja code before the game release as they have exclusive access? Non-standard API calls? Dx11 bugs? Were those possability mentioned here? No, just plain Nvidia suck posts.

Seriously, we have keys who tries to get a solution for people, then we have others who basically saids nothing but "Nvidia sucks".

Where is the taunt? We have lots of sad Nvidia owners who can't get a reasonable FPS, but all they get in this thread by those Nvidia hater is "Nvidia sucks" and how they have a friend who owns a 6990 rocks and link images indicating that 6990 rocks. Help? Nope. Trolling? Big time. Intimadating to those who tries very hard to get solutions for people who he doesn't know, passing inforation to from mute to deafs? Big time.

imho the issues are with specific driver editions and/or the high res texture pack. as I mentioned, my gtx 460 runs the game perfectly with 4xAA in dx 11 mode @ 1680x1050, but I only have 768mb ram so I can't run the aforementioned pack.

From what I saw, graphics HIGH + high res is still okay, but ain't be its full potential. 460 users ain't complaining on their 200 bucks purchase. Those 580 users really ain't with the same shoe, not the mention SLI users.

I guess the problem is a bit more complicated that you think. All AMD user missed was MSAA in batman, and AA in SC2. For DA2, all fermi cards ain't performing in a acceptable level. 600 bucks for 10-20 FPS with no more than 1 year old CPU is not acceptable. Doesn't it makes you wonder how can an AAA game gets out of the house with that kind of problems? We can talking about roughly 50% of the users.

In short bioward released a game that doesn't work properly on Nvidia's video card. Nvidia's driver is one part of the puzzle, but not the most important one as it works for everything else but DA2. Unless there is a bug, driver tweak ain't going to do alot. In fact, Nvidia already released a tweaked driver for DA2, but Fermi is still performing half of what they should be doing.

once again, this is simply not the case. a better way to say it is that bioware released a game that has an issue running at absolute max settings even with a high end rig. and the issue is only on 1/2 the potential user systems. so they should delay the game a week or 2 to get out a driver fix? no thanks. I don't think that nvidia deserves all this criticism, but bioware doesn't, either. Nvidia is going to have a fix out in a very timely manner for this game, if the fix doesn't work as advertised then I can see them getting a bit of criticism but right now I believe that more of the critics have an agenda than an actual legitimate complaint. specifically, grooveriding has said that his performance stinks, but he's turned down the settings (grudgingly) and seems to be enjoying the game at least. however, then he threw in another wrench by saying that he rarely plays single player games more than once. No offense, but if I was only planning to play a game one time and I knew it had a fix coming out in a week, I'd wait for the fix. So, either grooveriding is going to play DAII more than once and thus get the benefit of the forthcoming patch or he will play it just this one time then complain forever more about how DAII was ruined for him by a one week delay between game release and driver optimizations. Sounds like an agenda to me.

Exactly. Full DX11 Dragon Age 2 is playable on AMD, on nvidia it's a slideshow even on the best hardware.

The thread is not for arguing and tears. It is to discuss the problem and originally I made it in hopes someone may have found a fix.

But looking over at nvidia's forum seems it's a problem with nvidia's drivers or their hardware as some users there now are mentioning that tessellation is what is fubaring nvidia in this game.

I'm still pissed that you can't zoom out into the isometric view now.

Keys is not the point. You can try and make it seem like that's the problem, but it's not. I'm not attacking him either.

All I was trying to tell you that this sort of thing goes both ways. It's not all red fever. Are you trying to say we don't see threads where people are frustrated that their AMD card isn't performing like it should for them and they're all over AMD and their driver team. We hear about every problem that anyone has ever had for the last 5 years and how AMD drivers suck, etc... Even people who don't own AMD join in with, "That's why I don't buy AMD, their drivers suck".

"WHERE THE F@&# IS YOUR HEART?"
Where does this come from? I sure as hell never attacked Keys or anyone. Sorry, but I see this as potentially being a major problem, which is all I was stating. Even if nVidia sorts it out, is it something that should be, or needs to be happening?

Where's your heart? Grooveriding spent $1000+ on the best performing setup he could get. He's concerned that a major game is unplayable. He's being told to ah heck off and sell his cards on ebay because he won't sit there quietly and put up with it.
