Fired police officer gets last laugh...

That seems pretty rediculous. People bust their asses for 20 years to make 1.6 million dollars for their families and this guy gets 1.6 for assualting a guy who is in handcuffs....

If someone I was trying to arrest went for my testicles, he'd probably get worse than a punch in the head.
And would that merit a sum of money equivalent to what 53 hard working americans make in a year?
What is to say he did have his nuts grabbed anyway? From the video he gives no reaction of pain, only hits the guy. If my nuts were grabbed I'd go straight for the guys hand and bend over in agony.
LOL good for the cops! If somebody grabbed my nuts when i was trying to arrest them, i probably would have done a lot more.
Why the hell are you advocating for this guy. Regardless of race this was a unprofessional act that causes harm to another individual and is against the law. He was caught red handed on tape acting out of control and should be fired, end of story. If it were a white guy being pummeled on the hood of a cruiser it would still warrant a punishment, not a free lifetime of luxury at the expense of the state. That 1.6 million could hire a dozen more police, help community development, or hace a dozen other uses.
That is exactly why. He was wrongly fired because the suspect was black. If this was a white guy, he would've been placed on administrative leave while they sorted this out and still likely be a cop. Instead, he gets fired from his job, is brough to court several times for assault charges (which he was acquitted of), his likeness is plastered across the nation, and is probably thought of as a liability for any new places that may consider hiring him.
I'm suprised the cop didn't do more than just punch him and slam him against the hood of the car, I know I sure would've.
EDIT: It also probably cost the cop his pension, benefits, and everything else he would've received during and after retiring. This is all worth alotta money.

He beat the crap out of a kid on video tape. Just losing his job would have been lucky, as a civil suit could easily have been brought up by the criminal/victim of the officers blows.
If it was so "traumatic" to be shown on TV beating someone he could have done 1 of two things:
A. Not been such an enraged and unproffesional emplyee of his community
B. Filed suits against any media companies for libel.
The State and the taxpayers should not have been asked to fork over loot for him

Juries tend to to side with police officers' professional opinion in the matter of the law. That's why they don't allow police offciers to be in the jury and that's why he was awarded 1.6 mil.
If you're handcuffed, your hands are behind your back. They're below waist level, and at the level of another persons groin. If a police officer is up against the suspect, like they usually are after handcuffing, then it wouldn't be all that hard to grab the officer's balls.
It's even easier to claim that it happened without proof, and then get a king's ransom in the aftermath.
