I can't drink bottle water because they are all have an off taste (calcium, sodium, potassium, and plastic). Regular tap water is worst due to the strong chlorine in the water. IMHO, RO or distiled water at home is the way to go.

Purified water should taste pretty much the same. Water gets it's good(or bad) flavor from minerals in the water. That's why the soda companies add minerals to their purified water. I like mountain water, and if Fiji has that flavor, it would be worth the occasional expense to me. I'm gonna pick a bottle up next time I'm at a convenience store.
I like my water how I like my women:
cold, dirty, and quick to pass through my urinary tract.
I may need to rethink that last one.

I have no problem with anyone who wants to spend that much on water. Before I got my own RO system, I used to buy drinking water from the Pure Water store. Of course, that was only 10c a gallon and a $20 subscription would last me months and months and months.
I've had the RO system for over a year now and while it hasn't paid for itself in savings yet, it will eventually. However, it has more than paid for itself in convenience.

$1.50 a day? $1.50 is enough for one small as bottle, which isn't enough water for one day. I drink at least a gallon a day.
For a project on bottled water, I did a blind taste test. People couldn't identify Fiji water from cheap ass Ralph's water.
There is a reason Fiji water is the only water sold at Starbucks....

If you get enjoyment out of it, then keep buying Fiji water. It doesn't make you any less of a sap though.
It is as if I only liked special Fiji air, and scoffed at people who just breathed with a tank of Fiji air attatched to their mout/nose. I'd be a sap, and I'm sure you'd think so (even if you claim you wouldn't). It is like people who pay out of the ass for Starbucks coffee, or people who buy monster cables.
If you like it, good for you. You better not complain about any expenses though, spending money on such a luxury.

I'll take that bet. If you can't tell the difference between the Fiji Artesian water and tap water, you're lying. And it is good stuff but not worth the cost.
Simple test, filter your tap water and drink it straight from the tap.

Doesn't surprise me, a lot of people lack any sort of taste buds. Hell as I already said my roommate couldn't tell the difference between Coke & Pepsi in a blind taste test. I guess because he, and the few people you did your test on can't tell the difference then that means it's an absolute right? Trader Joes has the one size up bottle for $1.50. It's not enough for a full day, but its the perfect size when I'm out doing shit. I suggest next time you do a blind taste test you get at least a couple people with some actual semblance of taste buds.
Not analyzing but I taste a difference, and it's enough for me to enjoy the taste of Fiji more than other water I've drank. Water is not water, if you think that lemme drive to TJ real quick and get you some of their water, I'm sure after drinking it for a a single day you'll be singing a different tune. As for tap water it varies from county to county. I know in the Inland Empire we have absolutely disgusting tap water, when you turn on the faucet and pour a glass it comes out looking almost gray and it tastes like shit. If you drank it for 2 days I bet you'd jump at the chance for spending 2 bucks for a bottle of something that doesn't taste like water that came out of somebodies ass and was filtered threw a pool full of 2 week old dead cats. The difference between the tap water here and Fiji would be like a burger from MCdonals Vs a steak from Mortons. Fiji vs any bottled water I've had I can still notice a difference, although it's less in your face. We run our tap water threw a Brita filter and while it helps, it still has a noticeable WTF taste to it.

Every blind test I have seen has shown people simply can't tell bottled from tap water, yet every bottled water fanatic claims that they can. Sigh.

But it isn't. The filtered water isn't stored in the frig, it's just filtered and dispensed thru the front of it.
One of my old dogs preferred filter water also. She would almost never drink water from the outdoors or from other people that had unfiltered tap.
