That's weird.

What I do is finish the quest, turn them into the settler, but not do the "Talk to Preston Garvey" part to get the experience reward. Then after a few days game-time, it auto-completes even if I'm in the middle of nowhere.
It IS weird. I don't particularly care about the experience points for having finished the "quest", but if it's going to fail, at least the settlers shouldn't be whining about it. It's done, I told them it was done, and they don't know whether I have spoken with some useless gadabout in another settlement.

Only if you want another mission. :p
I mo debinitely do not want another mission from him. I might however want to use the Minutemen for
the final assault
, as they seem the goodest faction even if they are also the laziest.

Couple times I've encountered the Minutemen out patrolling, typically three of them. So at least SOME of them can get off they asses once in a while. Haven't encountered them in a while though. Maybe the Brotherhood killed them.

Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.... I did that.

They sucked ass. A bunch of amateurs with crappy weapons, no armor, only good at dying.

I went in the first time with the Brotherhood. May not be good people but power armor, big guns, and no one died.

And now I think it's time to power up Fallout 4 with a half bottle of wine.

Ran into the first bug that I considered bad tonight: after a fight, don't remember exactly what was happening, but after it was done I was stuck in a sort of black and white blurred-focus state graphically. It was the same state as the scoped view on the recon sniper rifles. Nothing I could do reverted the view back to normal. Eventually I Googled a bit and found a console rimod command that at least reset the colors, although I would say the edges of the view are still blurrier than normal.

Anyone else run into this? There's another variant where you get stuck with night vision textures.

Ugh, decided I wanted to try and do something with Sunshine Tidings Co-op, or whatever the hell that place is called. Turns out just about every house has a stuck ghoul in it that reappears after you drag them off, and one of them is hanging in mid-air in the middle of the living room, lol. I can probably move them permanently with console commands.

Having a problem in the main menu. When I scroll using my Xbox 360 wired controller it scrolls very quickly and will only stop on Continue or Exit.
Any idea how to fix? I only play the game with the controller.

That's usually what happens when there's another controller, for instance my throttle will do this.

I finally started playing Fallout 4 (even though I purchased it a while ago) and ran into a pretty serious bug. Occasionally, when hacking a terminal, I'll get stuck and can't move. I tried the terminal stuck fix which has me change a setting on one of my ini files but the problem still happens. The only other fix is to keep my FPS down... PITA!

Bethesda's engine does not like you running it over 60 fps.

So last night I was in the middle of doing some other things when I got a mission to... deal with a kidnapping at Ten Pines. Something novel! So I went over there and gave the worried friend 200 caps to pay the assholes and went on my way. A little later I was at Abernathy Farm cleaning up after a raid and I saw a group of Super Mutants moving south on the road from Wicked Shipping with a human. I went over and they attacked me. I killed them and the human ran off in the direction of Ten Pines. So if I go to Ten Pines do you think I will get my 200 caps back?

I wonder if you can actually intercept all the kidnappings... I remember running into a few situations like that where there was a human hostage.

Wow, I thought the game just made it so. That's interesting, what Bethesda chooses to script out and not. I experienced the opposite - ran past a building, got fired on, wiped out all the raiders, found and released a hostage, then later got the quest and immediately had it marked as done. I suppose the game was waiting for me to talk to Garvey to get the quest. Putting those two things together makes a very interesting picture of the scripting. I still need to load the mod that kills the repetitive Minutemen quests though. And also be a bit more cautious before I shoot the suicider's mini nuke, to make sure there is no human there.

I started travelling with Piper for the Railroad quests. She's a sweetie, much nicer than Cait who hates when I do anything for anyone, and combat-wise I can't tell any difference. If anything, Piper is more robust, hasn't been incapacitated once. On the other hand, I have eschewed power armor for she and I, assuming the Railroad quests would be more stealth-oriented (not the case so far) and I have died several times. Nice that it's put a bit of challenge back in the game as even on survival, I hadn't come close to being killed in days with my power armor.

I have about 40 hours into the game so far and here are my observations.

1. I am a slave to settlements. I have 15 settlements and all of them are tricked out with tons of food, shelter, entertainment, stores and defense. Close to 90% of my game time is to go out and wipe out raiders, gunners and super mutants just to get more supplies for my settlements. I don't even know why I am doing this or what the point of settlements are but I can't stop, it's like a crack addiction. Preston wants me to go discover another settlement? LEZ DO EET!

2. Companions are my infinite bag of holding. The only reason I bring my companion is to hold all my crap after I wipe out an area so I don't get over loaded. If my companions are overloaded? No problem, I just command them to loot bodies or loot things and they work just fine.

3. I've modded my armor for deep pockets to hold more stuff... for my settlements.

4. Dead bodies in settlements. These never go away. Even if I drag them around to areas not visible, they eventually come back.

5. Friend or foe? I would estimate over half of my quickloads are due to me accidentally killing a friendly NPC amid a firefight against bad guys and me wondering what the heck happened. Explosive rounds, grenades, missile launchers and fat mans are not usable when you want to be careful who you want to kill. Lesson learned, definitely don't use these to defend your own settlements and end up killing almost all the settlement stuff and 2/3 of your settlers.

6. Is power armor a thing? The upkeep of maintaining one and the fusion core charge needed just seems such a waste. Right now, Sanctuary is my power armor storage where I just have them out for display rather than for any meaningful use.

More to come.

True, but really no reason, other than filler, unless it may tie into a later dlc

Just hope they dont fix that bug, but if on pc just max out inventory :)

Build a "pool" / "pit" and stick them in there

It is, but don't need to worry about the fusions cores, as you will get them easily or just buy them.

I never really used PA as the stupid head bob while in it makes me dizzy/ill.... first thing in a lone while that does that

That's basically me.

Didn't know this!

I think there is a console command that will get rid of them. I hope so because I was planning to clean up the ghouls in Sunshine Tidings Coop tonight.

I'm still walking around in Drifter Outfit and militia hat, and at lvl 45 it's been awhile since I ran into anything that I thought was going to kill me.

I think I'm up to almost 20 full suits of power armor. 4 x Power Raider II, 3 x BoS T60, 4 or 5 x T45, 2 or 3 x T51, and a couple of X01. And I have a few empty frames sitting around. I pimped out a set of X01, top tier and with some Science/Armor level 4 addons for running around in the glowing sea. Much better than wearing a hazmat suit with no armor. But I don't really use it other than that.

On an unrelated note...

I ran into a rather dismaying bug recently.
I'm doing the Railroad missions, and I'm on Randolph #3. It's asking me to clear out the Drug Den, but when I select the mission, it doesn't give me a waypoint. Fortunately I remember where that place is because I cleared it a long time ago, so I run over and kill the one raider inside. No quest update. A quick search tells me that I'm not the only one who ran into this, clearing it before you get the Railroad quest fubars it. I hope I'm not locked out of the Railroad storyline. :(

Also, I was rather annoyed by the Brotherhood.
Or at least one of the game mechanics. I'm not terribly fond of their attitude, but for the most part they're not abusing the locals. And they hate the Institute, so that's cool. Everything is OK Until I meet their quartermaster and do a mission for him. He sends me to one of my settlements to "ask" for their support by any means necessary. I really should have known by his wording that this might not be something I want to do, but I thought perhaps I'd be able to persuade the farmers to help with the cause. As soon as I do that, the game tells me that the settlement now belongs to the Brotherhood. :( No indication what that means or how that affects me. My supply lines are still in place to and from the settlement.

Power armor is mo debinitely a thing, and if you mod the legs you can carry considerably more stuff. Also, you can provide light conventional armor to a companion, put them in a frame without armor, and they can carry more stuff. Doesn't seem to affect stealth either, such as Bethesda does stealth. Although your movement rate sucks in power armor, companions seem to be able to keep up with you if they are in it, and all they need is a fusion core with 1% and they are good forever. Two caveats here - I haven't checked to see if companions can carry the same in an empty frame versus a fully equipped frame, and if you give them any armor pieces they will wear out and when you have to wear the frame to stomp over to the repair rack, you will use 1% of a fusion core.

That doesn't work. The ones that are stuck will always spawn back to where they were originally placed. Some location field is not getting updated or whatever.
Obviously some modder needs to invent the corpsapult.
