Those damn provisioner brahmin...

I had one get stuck on the top of of the roof of the main building in Sanctuary. I thought I put my staircase far enough way from the building, but I guess the brahmin could step onto the roof. He got up there and couldn't get off. There was a good 24 hours of realtime gameplay that he was up there. Finally came back one time and he was gone. I have no idea how he ended up getting down, but at least I no longer have to listen to the sound of hooves frustratedly stomping on the roof when I'm there.

I'm really liking the gun mods for the early part of the game. It makes the junk weapons you find in the beginning of the game serviceable until I find something else. As much fun as I'm having I've had some small technical issues that frustrated me a little bit. It almost seemed like my guns weren't loading when I was switching them... Really weird and I haven't seen it before. I'd hit a number to switch weapons and what I was holding gets holstered, but then nothing comes out and I can do nothing but run around as I'm getting shot. Eventually the weapon I selected came out but it was a good 15 second wait. Hope that doesn't happen again.

After harvesting Raiders and Gunners for a few days, I realized that there should be a lot more
Children of Atom.
I only ever had one major encounter with them and it was awesome because of their guns. Took a ton of reloads but it was so much fun.

they are a small faction based in the southwest corner of Massachusetts. Little influence, or manpower. Not much equipment or money either.

Years ago I was hoping that Fallout 4 would be an epic confrontation between Children of Atom and either ghouls or super mutants.
Instead we got a relatively generic story.

I have had that happen more and more lately, not sure really what causes it.
There actually could be two issues.
1 - gun does not get selected
2 - gun does not draw/be visible but still can fire

I have had both of those happen, and not really sure why either. Most of the time i can go from 1st to 3rd and back to 1st and its fine

Weird, when it happened to me I definitely couldn't fire either. It was like I holstered the gun and never got another one out.

I'll also add that this seems to only happen if it involves switching from, or to my sniper rifle. I know that heavier guns affect your weapon change speed, and I wonder if that has something to do with it as it's the heavier of the guns I currently use. It's nothing compared to a minigun or something though, so I'm not sure.

Kind of related, but also a more general question if anyone knows: How big of an impact could video ram play in my issues? I know the problems I'm having with textures not loading could be impacted by that, but I'm wondering if some of these other loading issues could be affected too. I'm using a 5 year old system w/ a 570 GTX (1280mb vram) and was looking at possibly getting a R9 380 4gig model (or something else around $200). This is the first time since I built it that I feel really hampered by my hardware in a PC game, but don't want to drop money on new hardware if these are bugs/inefficiencies and not hardware related.

I had this happen often when I first started playing on release. It's very infrequent now. I can't remember the last time it happened...

In regards to the gun issue, I am running a 770 with 4GB ram and it happens
For the texture loading/popping in, i would say yes , it would help for that as it runs out of vram

I would say I had it happen about a dozen times when I was playing over the past weekend
I might have to take note of when its happening, at the start, after a load, long gaming session etc...

Haven't launched FO4 in a couple weeks now, so hooked on Rocket League, snow day is such a fun mode.

The mods are good even late game, because legendary weapons will often have a good bonus but to really max them out requires improving individual components such as the round type or scope. I got a sniper rifle that fires double projectiles. Upgrade it to a .50 cal and does crazy damage. Added a suppressor and a tactical scope that can track enemies, and I just sit back and pick them off one by one.

I've had the non-readied weapon problem a couple times, it usually seems to happen when I'm doing things in rapid succession such as starting to pull up my weapon, then while in mid animation I pull up the PipBoy. When it has happened I just to another favorited weapon and ready that, that tends to fix it.

Just had my baddest epic battle = Got a message a settlement was getting attacked - you know the usual stuff. But I fast traveled thinking ho hum... but waiting for me to arrive were 8 Supermutant mini boss level attackers that were already in the middle of the settlement with 4 of their dogs. Had to shoot , then take cover and reload and use a stimpack to heal, several times. By the time they were all dead 3 or 4 of my settlers were dead and all the crops/water were destroyed. Many of the turrets were damaged, several of the stores were damaged. The turrets facing outwards were obviously no help. I had a defensive rating of 125 on this settlement with 21 settlers in it. The settlement had only one way in that was well covered by both turrets and guard posts. So, how the hell did the Super Mutants get into the middle of the settlement within a minute of when the message showed up on my Pip Boy?? There were no attackers found in front of the only doorway/entrance into the settlement.

LOL- they must have Beamed in like Star Trek.

SO after rebuilding - I am now aiming a few of the turrets to cover the inside area of the settlement and I am thinking about doing that on all my settlements.

Yeah, after the first couple of times I had hostiles beam into a settlement, I made it a policy that some defenses cover the interior.

I had a deathclaw attacking one of my camps, turrents cut it down to pieces before it got to the front gate, even on survival mode.

Well, after being asked to clear Corvega of raiders for the third time I am pretty sick of settlements and Preston. I believe they may all die tonight. Let the mutants and monsters have the commonwealth.

Wow, I just did that for the first time. Pretty embarrassing if they couldn't even bother making a new area/task for you to do for each new settlement.

I just let the settlements get attacked at this point, just not my thing right now to defend them.

I understand the issues- but if you send Preston to a settlement that is established and then don't talk to him unless you have to to turn in a main Minutemen mission , don't go to the Castle ( depending were you are in the main story) , and don't turn in the Minutemen side repeat missions that you do complete ( eventually you do get the XP reward even if you don't "talk to Preston") , then the Minutemen missions really slow down. I just feel like you would really decrease the game experience by not doing the main Minutemen mission line, or make/defend settlements.

I am level 76 now - and just got my first kidnapping/Raider/Supermutant Minutemen/settlement side type mission for the first time in many ,many hours of play. I still get the occasional " settlement XYZ is under attack "- which are actually kinda fun side battles ( see my previous post a day or 2 ago) . If you don't build a whole bunch of settlements like I did, I would bet these side "defend settlement XYZ" battles would be very infrequent as well.

Just my 2 cents.

No, it's not that. I have a bunch of cleared settlements, however the Minuteman faction continues to generate new quests for them. It seems to want you to have two of them open at any given time. So if I return to Sanctuary and turn in quests to Preston he'll immediately give me two more. It's the only mechanic in the game that I really dislike strongly. In some ways it ruins the experience, if you're the kind of person that has a hard time ignoring the spam missions.

So anyway, I have been sent to Corvega four times now, and it's getting old.

Is it true that Fallout 4 uses loading screens for buildings? If so, that's very disappointing..

Some buildings are "dungeons" they will have a loading screen. Others are buildings in the open ares and they don't.

Not ever door is a loading screen.
