I read somewhere that if you are over level 50, the Automatron DLC will not work. Is that true?

No, i'm level 72 and played it last night. At first it didn't show up as an addon but restarting the game had it show up. It's not bad, but it ain't great.

I continue to have the issue where my settlements drop "happiness" for no apparent reason. Finch farm- which has 250 defense, and 2x food/water per settler, all settlers assigned a bed and a job and all of a sudden has a happiness of 50 (it was 94 the last time I played the game last week). Weird - cant wait to start the new DLC.

Does it affect anything? At level 57 I'm more or less done improving settlements. Bunch of whiners. I discovered

I finished the Automatron DLC yesterday. It's fun and I'd say worth it (I got it as part of Season Pass). There's a lot of fighting, a new robot companion, some new legendary Power Armor pieces with unique bonuses, new weapons (both regular and legendary), new regular armor type ("robot") and making Codsworth or Curie into a Sentry Bot is pretty epic There are like 4-5 quests in the chain and provide a nice challenge (unless you use some of the totally OP weapons like an explosive minigun). I actually died in the final battle once (I was careless but still). It took me like 3-4 hours to finish (I wasn't really in a hurry but did not sidetrack to anything else, except some fun with the robot companions). Oh and you can make as many new robots as you want and name each one and use as either a companion or settler.

Just remember to wear your Silver Shroud armor during the quest The Mechanist is one of the archvillans of Silver Shroud in the Fallout universe, some cool unique dialogue is available if you wear the costume

EDIT: Imagine Curie as a dual-Shiskebab wielding Assaultron tearing everything in sight to pieces. Yep, not a problem! :awe:

I picked it up accidentally. It's pretty brutal at level 30 on Survival, died three or four times in the final battle. More fun than I thought it would be, actually, but it added nothing more than a complex and the ability to build & modify robots. I'm hoping for new map areas, not three or four hour adventures/battles.

Did pick up a full suit of X01 power armor, which at level 32 (leveled up two times in the final battle) is pretty sweet. However, I'm still using my T-51D because it's got that cool AtomCats paint job.

Something I had not previously encountered in my first play-through was the AtomCats gang. Love 'em!

I feel bad.
Not so bad as to leave their loot alone, but pretty bad.

I have my own dark secret. I had to clean the Forged out of Saugus Iron, and when I stormed the final stronghold I shot and killed a settler who was tied up in a chair by the main guy. I had nightmares for hours.

On another topic: I found out last night provisioners can be killed. I have one swimming back and forth to Spectacle Island, and last night a Glowing Mirelurk got him. I saw the battle taking place as I spawned in, but couldn't get there in time. After he was killed I checked the map and the route was gone.

Are you talking about Drumlin Diner, or something else? Because so far as I know, Concord proper doesn't have any residents.

Just outside the east part of Concord. Theres a bunch of unexploded cars and a chem vendor who sometimes hangs out there. I went a little crazy and blasted without regard.

I'm doing the exact same playthrough Not done yet, level 71. Mysterious Serum + Psychobuff + Overdrive + Med-X with Chemist maxed (3x chem duration) help alot Heavy Gunner and Commando are awesome! I play mostly in realtime with Jet assist - it's the most fun I've had in this game in the 500-ish hours I've already put in it. The "perfect ending and the perfect character"

I think only if you can see them / in the same world cell as them then yes they can die, otherwise they wont die

I didn't even know there were any civilians there.

Hadn't thought about the Chemist perk. I rarely use chems and never use VATS, but during those times when I have to rely on Jet/Buffjet/Psycho/Medex to survive, that certainly would come in handy.

There was a patch to increase draw distance, which is great for immersion (less pop-in of people) but greatly expands the danger zone for one's provisioners and settlers.

I wish Bethesda would patch to remove that arbitrary limit on what can be built. With most every settlement, I have to use the "drop and store item" exploit to build what I consider to be the minimum. While it would be more challenging to live within Bethesda's limit, it certainly wouldn't be as much fun as I'd be running off to defend settlements much more often.

It's interesting that now, staring my 3rd playthrough in order to explore the Automatron DLC without crushing it under level 70 godhood, I'm still finding stuff I missed the first two times through. In Sanctuary Hills, of all places.

I loaded up a bunch of mods, almost all settlement-related. The Homemaker mod has a ton of new parts to play with, but I still ended up making a rather boxy primary building in Sanctuary Hills. Somehow the creativity I applied to making housing in The Sims (which I also revisited recently) doesn't seem to transfer to Fallout 4 buildings.

At least the new building has windows and a gable roof. Those flat-roof buildings I was forced to make before would have been terrible in an actual Boston winter. Also, proper interior doors! It's nice having a wall piece with a door cutout that fits inside, unlike the vanilla door segment which is oversized and only works on exterior walls.

I punted on a few mods after seeing what they actually did. Wastelander's Cookbook, for example, really appealed to me, but it also loaded up all the cooked items with both huge healing bonuses and big, big doses of radiation. That's not what I want out of cooking mod. There's a cooking overhaul mod that has "plans" to shift the emphasis of cooking away from healing (which really ought to be the job of Stimpacks) to mild, long lasting buffs, but so far doesn't do much beyond provide a few utility recipes for oil, dirty water, and adhesives.

I'd like a really good survival/camping mod like Frostfall in skyrim. Exposure effects, camping gear, tents, etc.

So I've finished my perfect character. Ended up lvl76. I still have 5 perk points I don't know where to put...

But that was on PS4. So I launched it on PC, just to compare. And I'm still hooked :awe: So I started a new char on PC, pure melee. And absolutely no cheating. Also no reloading on conversation failures and no legendary farming. First legendary mutant I kill drops a Freezing Flamer (I was hunting for one on my perfect char forever, never got one in the end...). And fusion cores dropping like crazy in boxes... The game is really trying to tell me I should have played heavy + PA again D: But I stick to melee and no PA Quite the challenge! Also, at level 15 the Automatron fights are tough as hell! The first one took me like 20 deaths - the main mob was oneshotting me in melee :awe: I'm early 20s now, just got the second brain. Ada is a monster I just wish her kills would not "steal" my XP...

Also, load speeds on an SSD are just crazy compared to the PS4... I didn't realize how much time I've spent looking at loading screens on the PS4...

Started my 4th game. Getting companions I like early in game so I can mod curie with the dlc. Trying out all possible story arcs.

I like the idea of the dangers involved in survival mode but I cannot stand the bullet sponge enemies. If there was a mode that made combat dangerous for both sides I would enjoy a new playthrough

Companion reactions are sometimes weird. I finally encountered Covenant on my 3rd playthrough, and took their entrance test (which is just The GOAT). Preston apparently disliked that, which makes him look psycho.

Tried out the robot thing today... Saw a bunch of level-matched robots, it got pretty nasty. Ended up having to use my rocket launcher which is totally overpowered.

I completed the main arc of the new DLC today, haven't went hunting for the Rogues yet. But I enjoyed it, though I would have preferred more traveling and not using the flashlight for 2.5 hours.

Just started playing yesterday. Visited an area after starting construction of Sanctuary where you have to jump in the water and help a guy repair some pipes. Already having fun falling through the floor.

I haven't fallen through the floor yet in 58 levels, and I did that quest and have been back to that quarry three or four times since. Do you have any mods installed? Or are you by chance running at a high refresh rate?
