Classic.

I'm pretty sure I know what road he was on. I do 75-80 all the time on that road, never get a second glance from the cops. I had a cop pull up behind me one time while I was going 75-80, I just moved over and he drove right on by. Everyone speeds - you have to give them a better reason than that to pull you over. Out of state plates is one reason, and the OP has out of state plates.

What if a child was playing on the Interstate, there is no way you could have stopped in time. I hope you're happy that you got away. You know, a baby could have fallen out of someone's car on the off-ramp, and since you were speeding it would have been impossible for you to slow down and avoid hitting the child who may possibly be the one to cure cancer. It's people like you, those who drive fast, that make it so I'm not stuck behind a slow car on my drive to work. I hope you're able to sleep at night knowing this.

I never understood why this board was so anti-speeding, but it always was, is, and ever shall be.

i don't think its anti-speeding, its just anti-stupid, anti-do-things-that-could-hurt-others-for-your-stupidity, and anti-bitching-about-getting-caught-when-you-break-the-law-and-try-to-get-out-of-it.

But the threads where people complain are much more interesting than: "I got pulled over for doing 75 in a 65 zone. The ticket, after administrative fees, was $380, and my insurance is going to go up $500 a year. I hope that the town that collects this money is able to put it to use helping orphans find a family that will love them, and I hope that the increase in insurance costs can somehow be funneled to provide housing to those affected my hurricane Katrina."

😕

lol, nice. Id have done the same thing if he didnt have his lights on. If the lights went on, id pull over as quickly as possible, however.

Ive run from the cops twice:

1) Public Urination (pissing in an alley while drunk)
2) Jaywalking. (who the fuck enforces jaywalking???)

In both cases, the cop was far too lazy (read: chubby) to chase after me.

Not me. I grabbed my jeans and my naked ass ran about a 1/4 mile with the clang clang of cuffs and keys behind me, through a strip mall, around a corner, and dove into a dumpster full of trash. The cop was out of breath long before I was and by the time he got there, he must have figured I kept running.

Unfortunately, my wallet fell out of my jeans next to the pool, and they paid a visit to my parents the next day 😱

Hahahaha. This story takes the cake!

Great! Thats one less person fulfilling the ticket quota for the speeding tax! You asshole, that means myself or one of us other unlucky SOBs is going to have to take your place.

Wow...I am going to go out on a limb here. You don't have kids? Do I win the prize?

I am an excellent parent and my child is 4 years old, and I feel I can speak for all parents when I say that it is truly amazing how quickly a child can run from you when you turn your head for just 5 seconds. No matter how good of a parent you are, this just happens sometimes. The child isn't stupid. It's not about "natural selection". It's just a child. On top of that, you mentioned:

..so we are not just talking about the highway here.

Now be honest with me, if that exact case happened where a child happened to run out in the middle of the street and you killed it because you could not slow down fast enough, would you use natural selection as the argument to make yourself feel better about it? How about if someone else were in your shoes and killed a friend of yours who decided to J-Walk across a street and the driver was doing exactly what you did? Would you just say to yourself that it was natural selection and shrug the whole thing off as if it did not happen.

Come on man...all we are saying is that you should be more responsible just in case the worst happens you know?

You let your kids wander around highways, off-ramps and job sites? He's not speeding into a residential neighborhood and if someone is J-walking, they are taking their lives into their own hands and they know it. The law may place the blame on the driver but the fault lies on the J-walker just as much as the driver.

You're turning this into a hypothetical argument and adding variables which are extremely unlikely if not impossible. This is a major highway, no kids, no houses for a long ways. I answered tongue-in-cheek with natural selection because I'm not sure if the previous poster was serious...dropping babies on the highway? Even under 65mph it's going to skid and tumble and, unfortunately, not make it. Let's keep this grounded in reality.

The possibility of something like this happening is so minute it's not worth considering. What about some of the roads that have an 80mph speed limit? Should I do 65 on those just in case a kid runs out? Should I do 40? What's the appropriate speed to respond to a child appearing in the middle of an interstate? What if the child has one leg? No legs? What's the appropriate speed to prepare to dodge a no-legged child who belly crawls himself into the middle lane of a highway? Please tell me so I can set my cruise control appropriately. For the record, no I don't have any kids but if your kid ever makes it into the middle of a highway I would recommend you look in the mirror when it comes to placing blame. We're not talking about a residential neighborhood with a 25mph speed zone here.

If a friend chose to jaywalk and was hit by a car I would certainly feel bad for him/her and their family but if the dumbass crossed at a crosswalk when permitted it wouldn't have happened.

I blew by a cop once at 330 am. He was in a dunkin donuts driveway. Mind you my house was like less than a mile a way. I had a jump on him because he was pulling out to get me I was already making a right at the stop sign. I through it into sport mode and gunned it. I was making the left turn at the stop light about 1/4 mile ahead when he was just making the right at the stop sign. I kept hauling it to my house. Pulled in past the security gate and I peered through the trees as he pulled in and made a U turn infront of the security gate. Had I been any further from home I would not have made the choice i did.

Was gonna post my own "teenage ran from the cops" story, but by the time I got 1/2 way through it, it was way too long!
So, Cliffs:

Had hot car, cops wanted me badly.
Cops could never catch me in the act.
Caught me in the act once & gave chase, I ran.
Got away to a Cemetery, stayed all night, sneaked back home just before dawn.
Cops ticketed me a few weeks later, though my car was broke down and I was working on it on the side of the road!

My argument about children was in reference to your speedy get away after getting off the exit. Not the highway part. Like I said, I wasn't in the car with you, but your original post makes it all sound very intense and dangerous despite whatever the reality is. *shrug*

Again, running from cops is dumb.

Yes once, me & 2 other girls were drinking/smoking & I made a illegal u-turn... Seen the cop coming after me so I hopped on the highway went crazy & got off... Got lucky, learned my lesson & never did it again.

If it wasn't my own comment I would probably put the belly crawl/cruise control lines in my sig. lol'd a little bit myself 🙂

Please accept my utmost apologies for not clarifying that it was entering a commercial zone. Actually there's really nothing there but trees and the buildings which are set back from the road pretty far...no sidewalks, no residences, no one walks in that area on a regular basis unless they broke down or something and I reached a "normal" speed by the time I was off the exit. People who speed through residential zones should be beaten and then beaten again.

It's all true (err, I mean not...legally speaking) but I think it's obvious there's a little bit of dramatics added.

That makes more sense. What actually happened is more clear now. Just think about the felony part for next time though. Without a good lawyer and some luck, America will eat you alive for several years if you get a harsh judge.

Point taken, had he turned on his lights in a manner that it was obvious he was attempting to pull me over I would have been right over on the side of the road. He dropped the ball, didn't do it right, and gave me an escape route with a bow tie on it.
