I did nothing wrong other than speed and for all legal intents and purposes I deny that I was even driving this morning. I can't help it if Joe Friday doesn't know how to turn on his lights.

Life can be funny. It could have turned to to Chopper_Dan filming you on whatever local Delaware city you live in being slammed to the ground with your lip blubbering against the curb and snot scattered for three feet while your Newegg or JCpenny tee-shirt is wrapped around your mug to keep you quiet while the officer hikes up the cuffs to hear you squeal like a teen with a new voice change.

First things first, if you're that cop.....HAHA you suck! 🙂

I was driving today on a road I won't mention...3 lanes in either direction with a pretty wide median in the middle. I'm pretty sure it's a 65mph zone but it could have been 55. I was doing 85 in the left lane...most people were probably doing around 70-75. A large row of trees ended and there was a cop sitting in the median. As I'm passing him he starts pulling out after me, there was probably a 1/4 mile gap behind me in the left lane but I guess he took too long to get out and missed the window. Took him a while to get out but he does. I've got a little more than a mile to my exit by this point. I'm now in the right lane trying to get off the exit but there's a car doing the speed limit (god forbid) in the right lane and in the middle. I can tell the cop pulled out but he's stuck in a pack of cars (doesn't have his lights on yet, why I dunno). I cut over to the left lane, around these cars and back to the right as I see him break from the pack and start hauling serious ass after me. I'm still in the right lane as he's approaching with a pickup truck just behind me and in the middle lane and some car directly behind me. Just as he's passing the pickup truck I get off the exit at the last second and he slams on his brakes a couple hundred feet past the exit and finally puts his lights on. I haul ass up the exit and the job site I'm working at is a couple hundred feet from there. Pull in and the road curves around a bit then there's a guard station. Normally you're through there in 5 seconds but there's some construction vehicle doing something and I had to sit there in a line of 12-15 cars for at least 5 minutes before I could get in. Damn near had a heart attack especially when a taxi (Caprice) pulled in a few cars behind me.

cop gets pwned
happy dance for me

For all legal intents and purposes, let's just say none of this is true, the Easter Bunny was sitting next to me and all comments about speeding being bad can be redirected to /dev/null.

You're an ignorant, worthless asshole and I honestly pray you die in a fire.

Seek help.

As a recap from earlier in the thread, the original post made it sound as if the OP was driving ridiculously fast and dangerously after he got off the highway. He cleared this up later.

Whatever. If I was doing 120mph weaving through traffic you may have a point. Doing 10mph faster than everyone else mostly sticking in my lane hardly qualifies as risking the life of everyone around me.

And no, they can't mail me a ticket even if he did get my plate #.[/quote]

Ever hear of speed cameras? They mail you tickets, valid ones too!

I don't know the statistics but 10MPH would probably equate to a longer stopping distance, and if you speed you surely do not leave a cushion between you and someone in front of you.

Hey, there are situations that we have all been in and could all potentially be in. What you have to do is learn to think of those around you and not to let things escalate, and think of the safety of those around you not about natural selection.

What an initially be just a 75-85 in a 65 can turn into something really bad if you let it get out of control, and sometimes that control can easily escalate if you're not careful.

No, I'm personally offended by selfish assholes that endanger the lives of innocent people instead of taking responsibility for their illegal actions...or those that support such actions. I think everyone like that should suffer serious penalties until they learn they have no right to risk the safety of others, or if they can't learn then they should just be killed so the rest of us can get on with our lives in safety.

I'll let you know when I move to the UK. About 80-90 feet increased stopping distance from 70->80mph though there are obviously many variables that can come into play. There was no one else in my lane in front of me for at least a mile.

I know a place with a great deal on soapboxes if anyone else wants one. They are plentiful today.

You know, not to take us on another tangent here, but taken out of context your post would fit very nicely into an anti-Bush/Cheney thread over in P&N.

I will laugh when a deer comes through your windshield and reams you with one of it's antlers.

On most country roads getting hit by a deer is a high probability no matter what your speed and they are often unavoidable at the speed limit. I know at least 2 people who have had deer just run into the side of their vehicle with no warning whatsoever. I could make the argument that if a deer and I are on a collision course, neither of us aware of it, and I make the decision that I need to hurry up and I hit 100mph to get home I very well could miss the deer I would have hit at the speed limit. Then again, it could be my increased speed that causes the collision and he would have been well across the road if I were doing the speed limit. Sometimes you're damned if you do and damned if you don't.

I applaud you for at least coming up with something better than "what if a baby was dropped in the middle of the highway".

I'd agree with that completely. Hell, I'll even throw the switch if it's a neocon in the chair.

Hmm well in defense of the OP I have seen many cops jump red lights when they didn't need to. The reality is that on the face of it it wasn't that bad until the red light were circulating and the siren was yelping. However OP could have just kept up nominal +10 speed (not too much excess) and up to and until cops ride was in the OP's rear-view OP could have just said "didn't see or hear ya". That would have got the OP out of evasion but not the ticket.
