I was thinking this exact same thing. It's like people responding have never done anything illegal and gotten away with it.

I've done illegal things and gotten away with it, but I don't boast about it or pat myself on the back.

I did when I was 16. Was going 51 in a 40 and saw the cop pull out. It was my neighborhood so I quickly started zigging and zagging through all the little streets. Here's the scary part--he found me in seconds!! He gave me a warning . . . 😱

I hope the OP is just a teenager.

On foot once, all of us got away in the end. It was for senior prank so they weren't to concerned about hunting us down anyway.

Was that just a cop busting up an outdoor party?

I have better things to do than make up stories to post on the dorknet.

I'm more than old enough to buy beer but not old enough to be president.

Didn't Ted Kennedy try that once? Congrats, you are in elite company now

Speeding 10 mph over the limit is one thing. Speeding 10 mph over everyone else who is already speeding 10 mph is reckless driving. I really hope you are not driving anywhere near me or my loved ones.

So....the OP didn't post a story and say JUDGE ME....he simply asked if anyone has done something and wanted to know the situation.

You're full of shit....this wasn't a high speed pursuit. He couldn't get out in time because of traffic, he failed to turn on his lights until too late, and good positioning and timing on my part let me get off the exit in time. You sound like you drive slower than my grandmother.

I wasn't there so I can't say exactly how safe your speeding was. I speed all the time and understand that there is a safe way and a reckless way to do it. Now consider a quote from your original post:

I cut over to the left lane, around these cars and back to the right as I see him break from the pack and start hauling serious ass after me. I'm still in the right lane as he's approaching with a pickup truck just behind me and in the middle lane and some car directly behind me. Just as he's passing the pickup truck I get off the exit at the last second and he slams on his brakes a couple hundred feet past the exit and finally puts his lights on. I haul ass up the exit and the job site I'm working at is a couple hundred feet from there. Pull in and the road curves around a bit then there's a guard station.

When you wrote this I am sure you were visualizing in your head what was actually happening which may or may not have been safe. However, to someone who wasn;t in the car with you, that whole section makes it sound like you were driving very dangerously. Hence my comment and the negative reaction you are getting from several of us.

In any case, don't run from the cops. A felony is nothing to laugh at.

I've "gotten away" from cops in my old car a couple times, I wasn't trying to, though. It's kind of stupid to actually cause a pursuit in a vehicle...

Now on foot is another story, I've RAN from cops before.

No we broke into our school, naturally this resulted in the cops being called on us. About 10 cop cars ended up showing. By that point we were out the door across the field into the residential/forest area. The next day at school our principal lectured everyone about how trespassing on federal property is a felony and the school would be required to cooperate in our prosecution...etc...

Good for you. I hope the 2 minutes you saved was worth risking the life of every one else around you.

Ya seriously. What you did could have easily landed you a set of clean crisp manslaughter or possibly even murder charges. Tell me, would you have posted this thread if you got into an accident and killed a child?

Wow... Arrogant little snot aren't you?

On another board I used to frequent, some other irresposible punk did something similar. The board admin contacted his ISP, got his address and forwarded the info and the thread to the cops asking them if this situation sounded familliar.

Some things you just don't brag about...

In my youth, meaning around age 16 to 18, I owned a very fast Z-28 Camaro. This vehicle was custom with a turbocharger and could go from 0-100 in a few seconds. Anyway, I loved street racing down Ward Parkway or Metcalf (KC, MO) and once at a stop light a Mustang pulls up along side. Well, we did the standard 'glance and nod' before the light turned green. We were easily doing over 100 when a cop on the other side of the street noticed, turned on his lights and started to cross over the grass median to give chase. Well, I slowed down and started doing zig zags through a residential neighborhood until I got home. I tucked the car in the garage and didn't drive it for about 2 weeks. I would have never guessed that 25 years later, i would be working for the police. Yep, ironic.

I did when I was 15 and got away as well however, they caught my friend. He was a cool dude didn't rat and took the rap for us.

So you let him take the heat for you? Nice.

whats up with all the holier than thou attitude here? I'd never rat on my friends and I expect them to do the same with me

I thought that was pretty much par for the course on ATOT.

I'm pretty sure we've all done plenty of stupid things in our lives. Unless you're an idiot, you learn from your mistakes and move on, you don't brag about it and act like you've done something brilliant.
