Heh well to put it shortly Michael that is the reason I went for BC 5 is to fly a command ship and I like my astarte very much thanks :). I'm actually a very well rounded character. I started off as an EWAR specialist (you really don't want to see me in a rook, scorpion or blackbird, its basically no lock time for you at that point) and I'm now working on supporting skills for capital ship flight. I agree with what you said, it is nice to be able to make a well rounded character although focused characters have their pluses as well.

That is why no MMORPG has an Unreal or Quake like PVP. System requirements (mainly set code coupled with tracking the worlds) overwhelms the current state of the art fro programming and systems. One day, yes. But not today.

The only limitation i see is bandwidth. Again i agree that freespace style controls would be more complex, but we are also talking about 4-5x the processing power per "shard" over a freespace 2 server with a pentium 3.

I believe they have another hardware upgrade on the way for eve, which would make the possibility of better controls almost a certainty. Who knows if they'll actually do it, but itll certainly be possible with 200 quad core machines...

I too gave EVE a try after reading this thread, and after a few hours of playing I have to say I'm impressed. The economy aspect looks really neat; now I just have to figure out how to keep playing without failing my classes. ;)

When I started, it was really addictive... I'm glad this game didn't exist while I was at the university

After a few weeks I was still enthusiastic about it, but not "addicted" anymore.

Someone tell me what to do to have fun :(

4.6m sp!

If you have no intention of resubbing in the future:

-try to gank random ships in lowsec
-Post your ideas on Eve-O's general discussion.
-join some random newb corp and try to rob them blind as a lesson that they should secure all their goods
-kill pods
-become a mine liberator and steal ore in highsec from cans
-if you can fly a BS, fit large smartbombs in your highslots; go into a high-occupancy system, tell newbs you are giving out free stuff and when they come close, F1, F2, F3, F4, etc.

That's all I can think of right now.

I haven't played in a while, my Battleship 5 finished training today after more than a month of training, [[while my account was canceled of course]]. I should have probably trained something else like Cruise missile 5 or Torpedo 5 instead, oh well, next time. I finished Covert Ops the week I canceled my account for the BS 5. So anyways I will probably be just messing around with Frigs, Covert Ops, and Battleships for now and maybe get into Interceptors later.

Anyways I stopped playing because of a number of reasons. Basically I was in a corporation for awhile that had their own space, but they wanted to move so I had to lug all my stuff across like 24 jumps [one way] from one place to another. Then they would move again and I got tired of it considering I had like 4 or 5 ships + mods. Since it was through 0.0 space, it was worse than normal. Not only that but my corp was on a different time zone so I could never make it to the ops or even be on when everyone else is on. In this game, almost every well-established corp is in Europe.

Also a big problem came up when I wanted to do level 4 missions. Bam, 200+ people crammed into each zone (4 or 5 that I tried) that housed these LVL4 agents. Basically impossible to do anything because of lag. If only they had like 10 more agents, and spread them out everywhere it would be bearable. Extremely poor planning IMO, considering lag and their 'need for speed' initiative is their main priority. They could adjust that and help free up so much lag and improve playability.

EDIT: Battleship 5 was 2 mil SP by itself, lol. It put me up to 9.5 mil SP and I am still relatively a noob as I haven't PVP'd that much. I do like the game, but a corp will make or break your gaming experience.

you should pvp.

I'm in a small and growing pirate corp located in .3 space. It's nice.

or, if you have a snowball launcher, he he, hit some unsuspecting noobs with the snowball launcher, it does NO damage, and concord doesn't touch you, if the noob attacks you, he gets concorded, that is, if you find one dumb enough to attack you. if your actually playing the game, and not on a trial, pm me here, i'll give you my eve online, and if you need help/isk i'll help you out as best i can. or if you build stuff, i mine alot of mineral in my alt with his covetor(largest mining barge you can get, t2 is the hulk)

LOL, thats not a bad idea, I think I have a snowball launcher somewhere.

I'm at about 21 million sp, with just over 6 million of it in missiles, but I still don't PVP yet, I mainly do exploration, while I mine with my alt. My corp is rather small, and we are rarely on at the same time, so we just stay in empire space.

All snowballs were nerfed into "Melted Snowball" for this exact reason a while ago. You can't use them anymore :(

awww, they nurfed snowballs. the BASTARDS....oh well...lol. i havent done any mineral stealing yet, but if i did, it would probly be in a cruiser or larger sized ship he he. or maybe a mwd bs or something, a bs going 800+m/s is pretty impressive when you want to steal mineral from someone lol.

edit: honestly im tellin you now, if there is ANYONE that needs mineral, i will mine it, and sell it at like 1/2 the normal price. region essence, constellation eustron, solar system ommare....so if your near there, i can mine quite a bit of mineral and sell it dirt cheap.

So I downloaded it last night and started the free trial. Seems pretty complicated. Lots of stuff on the interface. I'm working through the tutorial.
