One problem I'm seeing is that I dont have enough CPU to use most or all of the fitting slots. Is that normal? I'm using 75mm and 125mm gatlings but I can only fit 5 out of 8 with the shield upgrades and platting i'm using. Any tips?

Electronics 5
Engineering 5
Weapon Upgrades 5
Advanced Weapon Upgrades 4

Those are pretty much MUST HAVES. Oh and also, I'd skip Destroyers. I'd go straight to Cruisers.

Well going straight to cruisers = 4 to 5 days of skill training lol so in the mean time i needed an inbetween option.

Just stay in the frigate. No sense in rushing.

Frigates are fine. I've got 4m sp and I barely fly cruisers. Support skills work for every ship and those are incredibly important.

Engineering 5
Electronics 5
Weapon Upgrades 5(blah 10 day skill. Putting it off)
Advanced weapon upgrades 5
Small X turret 5
Gunnery 5
Frigate V which is only 10 days as well
Electronic upgrades V

Basically a bunch.

What makes this game good for me? Someone who hates WoW and other MMORPGS? I like my homeworld 2 :)

I just started playing again. My character is a Caldari Drake/Raven pilot with about 2 mil SP. I rushed to BS and Drake ASAP. Now I can finally start fitting tech 2 mods. I am going to focus on making my Drake skills great (all T2, etc) and then do the same for my Raven.

I am in a Corp right now called Mavericks. Has anyone heard of them? The Alliance is Sylph. Are these reputable organizations?

Isn't Sylph a BoB pet in Fountain?

I just suspended my account (training large railgun spec to 5), not sure if I'll renew it later. I was really into it a bunch of times, kept my account active since feb 2004. The problem with eve (especially being my first mmo) is that everything else seems too safe. I never played daoc, which i hear has similar pvp rules, but when i play wow it's just a matter of time where as eve seemed like skill and planning were very important.

I quit because the guy that got me into the game died in may 05, so i kinda just kept updating skills until last month. I might sell my char for isk and use that to pay for the game again later (you can by gtc with isk, ccp endorsed).

I hope the "2 million sp' is a typo. Because if it isn't, I think I am justfied in saying that your Drake and Raven flying abilities just suck.

I have no idea how you are going to fit that guy without at the very least Engineering 5 and Electronics 5. I have 6.5 million sp (now) with about 4 million going to ONLY my Drake(Battlecruiser 5 FTW). And I can only BARELY T2 fit my drake.

7 Arbalest Launchers(Don't even have Heavy Missiles to 5. That takes 15 days)

3 T2 Extenders (With Shield Management to 4, I get a good 17 k or so shield)
3 Active Hardners all T2 ( 2 Invulnerability fields with 1 specific hardner, usually ballistic) I can get 80 % resist average for 3 of the types, and 60% for Em

And either 3 BCU T2's and a T2 Power Diagnostic System ( Couldn't fit my setup it without Advanced Weapon Upgrades to 4) I can Probably Fit a Shiled Power Relay now

or

3 T2 Shield Power Relaysand a T2 Ballistic Control Unit. ( This lets me tank about 600-700 DPS)

Assuming I get rigs somtime soon, with 3 Core Defense Field Purgers, I can probably push that number to 800-1000 DPS tanked

So, you need another 4 months of play, in order to be considered a half decent pilot. Assuming you get your learning skills up ( Which you need up to about a mil sp in order to get anything done if you play for more that 2 months.

I can't even begin to fathom how you are flying your Raven.

Not trying to insult or anything... but with only 2 milion Sp, you can only fly a crusier semi decently, much less a Battlecruiser or Battleship. How did you even afford those ships anyway?

P.S- I'm hardcore into this game. I accept all accusations that I'm wierd. but this is the type of game Eve is.

My character has 20.5M skill points.

I do a lot of industry (making things, mining and trading) and I can fly a freighter.

Fighting-wise I'm usually in a BC or a BS (both to IV). Cruisers/HAC/BC I T2 fit for weapons. I'm about to get Heavy Drones to V and will be using T2 drones by the end of this week. My favourite BS in the Domi.

I'm also about to build a carrier and just bought and placed my corp's first POS.

I have my training planned out fairly solid until the end of March.

After the drones are done, I'm doing a few misc skills I never bother with in the past (navigation to V and leadership to V, for example) and then I'm going to make sure all my gunnery support skills are at IV at least.

Then is is a tour through ECM land to get those ones up to IV.

Finally, I'll be able to explore and do fly covert op ships and that'll take me to the end of March.

All the basic fitting and tanking skills are at V already, so nothing to do there.

After March, I'm looking at getting really good in a Command ship (that's 1 month to get to BC V) and then a few more months to make all the linking skills good. Then BS to V and capital ships. That'll mean my character will be almost 2 years old before it is a capital pilot, but I really concentrate on making sure I can fly a ship well before I get into it.

Michael

ps - I never bothered to do frigates V so I can fly HACs but not T2 frigates ....

Actually, I have 1.9 mil, and I fly very well thank you very much.

I will explain how.

I have BC level 3, Heavy Missiles 3, Rapid Launch 4, Nav 3, Science 4, Tac Shield Manip 3 (working on 4 now), Electronics 4, Drones 4, Energy Grids II, Engineering IV. Shield Upgrades III. I also have BS 3 and Torps 3.

This lets me fit all T1 shield stuff and T2 Ballistic Controls and T2 Shield Boosters (for the Raven).

In 6 days, I will be able to run Invuln Field IIs and other T2 hardeners.

I can *easily* tank and kill twin 800k Sansha's in 0.0 and I do it all the time.

I will admit that I suck in PvP and I die in 90% of the fights I get into. I have learned to avoid fights.

I have other skills as well obviously, but those seemed like the most impt to list.

I got my cash with a game time card and since then I have made a ton ratting.

You see, your skills are very sub par, and with your skills and setup, I'm betting you tank about 300-400(Which sucks). This is why I hate it when people with less than 5 million sp buy isk. They fly Battleships and Battlecruisers with the barest minimum of skillsw with crappy mods, and I just have to laugh.

And seriously, how the hell are you flying a Raven torp setup without AWU to 4, WU to 5 and freaking Engineering and Electronics to 5? Considering how hard the Raven is to fit even with these skills.

If you want to fly gimped fine, its your choice. I'm just advising you that you should try and get some experiance first before using 50-100 mil ships.

Where are you in 00? I feel up to some PVP. I'm staying in EK2. So if you feel up to fighting, ring me up.

Username - "Oktacon"

P.S- How well do you hold up against 3 1.7 mil rats? They can get me down to 40% if I don't have tanks mods on my lows. I'm curious how well t1 mods can do it.

Besides graphic changes are there going to be any changes to the game that newer players are going to see from the Trinity update?

If you use drones, then you'll see the impact of those changes. The Vexor is the only drone boat that newer players would be likely to use and it isn't changed. Some other ships have had their drone bay increased but no change to the number and class of drones they can launch.

Asteroid belts in high sec systems will be cleaned up from all the cans that were littering them.

Bounties will be given out in a "delayed" fashion.

Lots of other changes as detailed in the patch notes.

I understand I am gimped, and for PvP I fly a Caracal. But I just cannot stand the idea of running PVE missions... PVE ratting is OK because it is really PvP (in 0.0 you are always in PvP).

I am usually near Tash-Murkon - Misaba - 0.0 near there.

Question on how you pick systems to call home. Do you do it based on your corp or do you just happen across a 0.0 and decide to call it home?

You will die in 0.0 unless you have the protection of a corporation and/or alliance. Simply put, people will find you and kill you.

You don't go into 0.0 unless you are Blackbeard himself, or unless you have a corp.

Most corps also have a "home system" in empire space, where they have their offices/etc.

I figured that was the case. But wondered with 5000+ systems if people can still hide themselves. I went to a .4 system last week and jumped away from my computer for literally 25 seconds and came back to some guy warp jamming and pwning me.

I needed to replace that ship anyways hehe.

People can find you via the map. If they're nearby and notice that a system is not empty and they're looking for trouble, they'll come in.

If you're at a belt or planet, it takes me maybe 30 seconds using the on board scanner to find you.

On another note, if you're curious what skill train gets like after you've had a character for a while, here is my plan up to about the end of March next year ...

44. Skirmish Warfare III (7 hours, 40 minutes, 31 seconds)
45. Skirmish Warfare IV (1 day, 19 hours, 25 minutes, 14 seconds)

Of course, these are always subject to changes, but I'm getting my gunnery, ecm and leadership skills up to a good base level before I start training for command ships. The projectile skills just are to give my Myrmidon the option of medium projectile weapons since there is no bonus anyways and they don't use cap. I expect I'll be mainly in an Ishtar or my trusty Dominix anyways.

That isn't my complete plan file.

Right now i have over 1 year of training planned out but once 1 get more than 3 - 4 months out it is messy and more of a notepad on options than what I'll actually do.

Using a worthless new trial account character, I flew a Minmatar Reaper deep into the Raz0r alliance's space, maybe 15 jumps inside 0.0 space. No one attacked me. I was trying to find a gatecamp for a laugh. Checked the map for kill areas. No dice. No one was there. I bet they'd find me if I was flying something valuable.

Let me further add that low sec space 0.4 and below can be just as dangerous as 0.0 in some cases if not more so. Plenty of folks camping 0.4 and below gates waiting for some n00b to come through trying to reach his corp in 0.0 space. Most folks don't camp 0.5-0.9 space because Concord comes to the scene of the crime and shoots first and asks questions later. There are also several ways to gank people high sec space but it takes a little bit of imagination to not get killed or just find out a way to only lose something invaluable in order to gain something of better value in loot/salvage from your victim.

P.S. The application EVEMON is a must for anyone really interested in playing EVE and planning out their character/ship they want to fly along with any other skills.
