All they have to do is create a game that follows a series like Star-treck or Stars Gate each TV part by part.

GW = ?

Also, Subspace, Basically everyone that is left in the game (a couple thousand) has logged AT THE VERY LEAST 1000 hours into that game.

Oh I mean Guild Wars...

I have far too much time logged into GW.....

GW is special... too bad GW2 is turning into a big vaporware

Remember the original guild wars beta? Delay and more delays, arenanet takes after valve in how they delay games forever, but the games are always epic win!

The original Unreal Tournament (1999) and UT 2004 offered more than 1000 hours of game play and people still play those games, greedily, to this day. Thousands of custom maps and mods have been made for those two games and at one time UT99 had a very active clan scene with lots of formal clan match competition. In fact, UT99 still has a pro-level capture-the-flag competition to this day (Major League Unreal Tournament, or MLUT).

Free mmoprgs? I haven't played any of them, but Runescape in particular seems to have a fairly large following. I've probably racked up 1k+ hours on d2, considering I bought it at release nearly a decade ago haha... only play it for a few months at a time before getting bored, but jsp has renewed my interest in it; the barter economy was my biggest complaint with it and jsp fixes that.

I have personally logged close to 1 year of combined gamplay through F2P/P2P. This equates to about 6 years total on my Runescape account. I'm still playing strong.

You made me think that idiot Pelu was back.
Not cool man.

As for the OP, you can play any game for 1,000 hours. It might just not be fun for the last 945 hours.

I have over 1000 hours in Global Agenda. You will love it if you are into pvp.

And I certainly spent more than 1000 hours on Baldur's gate 2. I know, it's a linear game more or less, but then I'm crazy, so it's alright. Oh, and I love exploring ;)
Oh, and Ultima Online.

i was the first player to report over 1,000 hours on the TES forums and got my character in Oblivion to Level 94 without cheating or using the console - no mods. Also, i made a few "firsts" discoveries along the way which i reported - even months after the game was launched. THEN i played the Shivering Isles expansion and many high-level mods for another 250+ hours. i got to know the game mechanics like few others.
:Q

That game seemed pretty mediocre, why would you spend so much time playing it?

Warcraft 3 though for me. Between it and the expansion I have 1000's of hours played.

I had over 400 days played in WoW before I quit last year (9600+ hours). Probably over 10,000 hours if I went to check.

Still recommend ES 3 and 4, which can still be had dirt cheap on Steam.

Why the fuck did this need a bump?

Also, Fallout 3 and NV with all the mods can go a while.

Civ IV (including the expansions) for me. If you include user mods, then you can squeeze even more gameplay time out of the game.

Apparently we can log more then 1000 hours in this thread.

For me it is Tetris, or Bejewled.
I also played a MUD called AustinMUD for almost 2 years of active login time.

I've played Team Fortress 2 for 800+ hours so far, according to Steam... BUT... for some reason that counter only "started" something like a year after I actually started playing the game per se, because approximately a year after I started playing I remember that many users (not everyone though) reported that their recorded TF2 stats (preferred weapons, numbers of kills, etc, including the time played) completely stopped updating, and to make a long story short about one or two weeks later the stats were reset and many files were updated, so all the one year-old stats that had been kept to that point was reset and I certainly accumulated a good 100+ hours of play time by that point, if not more.

Briefly said, TF2 is the very latest game I own with which I've played a thousand hours, if not a bit more than that, and I started playing it from the very first week of the Orange Box's release (which is a retail copy). If not for TF2 then Diablo II + Expansion breaks all of my own "records" by a hundred fold, I must have played that game for way more time than I'd even care being aware of, I started playing Diablo II sometime back in late 2001 or early 2002, and I "quit" (after three quitting attempts) finally sometime in 2008 or early 2009, sometime in there can't remember exactly when, I played it for a good seven if not eight years of my life.

this happened to alot of steam games, l4d 1 was the same for me. I had 600 + hours and then the steam client updated and lost stats for l4d and a few other games, but some kept the stats it was wierd. Was a few years ago now.
