Tribes. And we've recently learned that Garage Games acquired the IP for the franchise, and also has the mythical original source code. A patched version of the aging (but still fantastic!) original game is going to be added to the Instant Action game list, about June 12 if I heard right.

The best part about this is that GG is likely to do something even more than this to bring life back to the franchise, via some future release. Tribes has remained available (and free) through recent years thanks to some community support, but not in a way that would bring new players or life to the community.

Diablo 2, new patch coming too so I bet a ladder reset will go with that.

new patch? lies!

Blizzard wants your input!

Hard to believe but they're actually doing a big content patch for D2 which is now 10 years old.
CONTENT patch?!?! :Q

Yes, content, new quests and/or monsters and/or items and/or interface changes and/or level cap changes and/or many other things are possible. My bet is on some Diablo III feature(s) for public testing purposes, that way they'll know in advance if they should leave it/them or remove it from their current DIII build before its release, without us knowing that it was a DIII feature(s) in the first place somewhere during its development.

But it could be something entirely different, of course. They are actually asking their fans on the official discussion forums on Battle.net what SINGLE feature we, Diablo II players, really want the most out of so many things we want. They want us to post a single "wish", something we would almost kiss their ass for to be included in Diablo II. Some people posted a list of many things they want, and Blizzard said that they will simply consider the first "option" in such posts and completely ignore all other things, they don't want us to post too many things. Just one will do. I myself humbly asked for Player-Based Loot Drop to be included.

But, in the end, whatever that patch brings to Diablo II it will certainly keep the current players on it, but it will also bring ex-D2 players back, which in the end could end up creating a bigger player base for Diablo III. In my book there's no other logical reasons other than to benefit Diablo III's popularity and sells for Blizzard to magically come back on Diablo 2 and create a content/major patch for it after all those years of humongous neglect about it. If they wanted to support Diablo 2 out of pure passion and love for it then they would have created that very content patch two or three years ago. Whatever the actual reason for D2 support is however it's certainly welcome for me, because simply no other so called hack-and-slash D2 "clones" even come close to it in terms of game-play, simply none.

I had that much time in FarCry multiplayer. Too bad the community is basically gone. :(

It's the game that got me into gaming on PC and computers in general.

I was wondering if a game with 10K hours of gameplay is going to appear somewhere in the galaxy lol... maybe the aliens manage to create a nasty story and so on that can keep going for years of playing...

On the other hand if everyone goes back to a new and rejuvinated D2 with D3 features, and then D3 actual turns out to be not-so-fun or buggy in some way, what reason would we have to buy D3? Personally I think any form of official support and especially free content for old games is brilliant. I wish more companies were doing it. Bioware I'm looking at you.

Shizzle.

We need a Diablo 2 Redux all on 1 DVD. Heck, they dont even need to add new content, just improve compatibility with modern hardware and maybe run it at 1024x768.
Same for KOTOR 1 and 2. Optimize it for a wider range of hardware and put it all on a single DVD. Full install. No Disc Checks.
KOTOR 2 especially needs to be fixed and Re-released. The main quest can get broke too easily and many of the side quests are routinely broke. The only thing KOTOR 1 needs is the improved interface and menu system.

some might have put in 1,000+ hours into TF2

I might have put in 1,000+ hours in D2

Starcraft if you consider Korean gamers

EDIT: Forgot this was the PC gaming forum. Um... can't remember the last game I put quite that much time into on PC. But I hate MMOs so it's a little different for me.

I was going to say Disgaea or Disgaea 2 as well, for absolutely cheapest $/hours of gameplay known to man (excluding free games)

or any MMORPG.

Also, Subspace, Basically everyone that is left in the game (a couple thousand) has logged AT THE VERY LEAST 1000 hours into that game.

do u guys think there is a game with more than 1000 hours of gameplay... by the way not one of those that u pay to play 15 bucks each month lol

lol.. off course.. try GalCiv II, or Civ IV, any mmorpg....

GalCiv 2 was a major contributor to my breakup with my daughters mother. Huge time sink.

Ouch man... Not cool. I suggest http://www.olganon.org/

(not trying to be a troll or a jerk - I'm dead serious)

When a game has such an effect on your RL, it's time for that game to go. Unfortunately I was not able to stop playing games, but at least I was able to see things from a different perspective and realize how I can improve my situation.
