do you mean 1000 hours without replaying it over and over? or do you mean actually doing new things?

i don't think any game, besides possibly an mmo would provide that.

NWN1 would also provide that, given the number of modules available for it.

Few games will provide that much play time without repeating the same tasks ad nauseum, any FPS, Diablo/clones, Oblivion, etc. Even MMOs are pretty much repetition of the same tasks indefinitely.

Guild Wars. Both for me and my wife, although she has much more time in it than I. And you don't have to pay per month. Grab GW: Trilogy ($40-50) and Eye of the North ($20-30), and you are set.

Sadly, It's really easy to pass 1000 hours (42 days) in just about any MMO. I've spent well over 1000 hours in at least nine different games:

- Tie Fighter
- Lords of the Realm 2
- UT'99
- Shattered Galaxy
- SWG
- Civilization 3
- DDO
- LOTRO
- WAR

UT3, TF2 and Empire: Total War are the only games I currently play that have a chance to hit that plateau, but I'd say it's unlikely for any of the three. Maybe the KOTOR MMO.

counter strike 1.6
Diablo 2 LOD
maybe a few other games, but nothing like those two..I probably spent 250days game time on CS alone...back in high school of course.

Day of Defeat. I started playing that game in 2001. Up until left 4 dead came out, it was still my preferred game. I never really have time to sit for hours and just get into a game, so it was perfect to get it for 30 minutes and be done. Spent way way too many hours on that game.. but it is a good stress reliever.

If you play through all of the side quests of Oblivion, you could get upwards of 1000 hours of gameplay. I have around 600 before I formatted, and there were at least two major quests that I hadn't completed yet (assassins guild, and one where I had to find a bunch of statues)

I would go back and try to finish those, but I lost my saved games and the thought of losing all the effort makes playing the game again difficult.

Asking for 1000 hours of gameplay from a game is a bit much though. I don't want to be paying for the development of something like that just for a little entertainment.

Ultima Online
find a free shard with exact config as the official server.
Then have fun grandmastering animal taming and magery.

GalCiv 2 was a major contributor to my breakup with my daughters mother. Huge time sink.

I might have put 1000 hours into Alpha Centauri from when it came out until the mid 2000's.

Technically I wouldn't count MMORPGs because you're basically buying a new game every month (or two, depending how you look at it) via subscription fees.

So you'd have to look at gameplay hours per subscription charge.

I've been playing Counter-Strike, in its various forms, since 1999. There's good chances I've logged over 10,000 hours. But that's repetition; if you're looking for a game with literally 1,000 hours of different content, you'd have to turn to the realm of RPGs, and most likely MMORPGs. Even then, you'd probably need expansion packs or user-created content to have 1,000+ hours of unique gameplay experiences.

I think I remember reading a while ago that some people played their original games of Daggerfall into the 2000's.

I never did play that game so I wouldn't know exactly how it would work.

I had over 1000 hours on my Morrowind save. I had over 1000 hours on 3 characters on PSO. I've put easily 15,000 into Ultima Online. Played at least 5 hours a day for nearly 8 years. =(
