US STATE != COUNTRY

ENGLAND == COUNTRY

That's why I RELATED them and did not fully equate them. No matter what you say, the relationship is relate-able because UK = Country and the US is governed bottom-up (land owner over city over county over state over federal (country). Each one higher up only has the power granted to it by those beneath except when impacting another's equal rights (state vs state = federal matter, city vs city = county or state matter, etc)

I disagree america is comprised of 50 states, each one is like a different county, I expect people to understand that I'm English, not from Essex....

That's akin to me expecting people to understand that I am Georgian and not that I am from Coweta County. Admit it: There is nothing wrong with calling you British. Stop being stubborn, silly. This isn't like the coyote thread where you can argue an opinion until infinity. This is fact.

They are all swallowed up in the EU now anyway, slowly losing their identities.

"Euro trash" is a term that I prefer.

It is fact that I'm british, however I am also european, what I have experienced is akin to: Calling a german; german, calling a russian; russian but then calling a french person european when you know all the nationalities. It's retarded <-- Fact.

Erm, this went a little farther then explaining the differences of GB, England, and the UK, in fact there's a well-reposted picture that doesn't go into the minutia of "The Crown" that this video did.

Nope, never cared. I think Neckbeard mentioned it once, but of course I paid no attention. They are all British anyhow.

I'm from England. Learn. Calling Scottish people Scottish and Welsh people Welsh, but English people british is fucking retarded.

What nationality does it say on your passport? English or British?

England and being English is something that has been gradually eroded for decades.

Reminds me of something that was said quite a while back:

We used to be an Empire governed by an Empress
then we used to be a Kingdom ruled by a King
Now we're just a country..

=)

Except Europe isn't a sovereign state like the UK. If you're going to complain about the comparison about states not being nations, you can't use this argument yourself. Try again, Brit.

I always say "the UK" when I refer to anything over there, and it doesn't seem to piss anyone off. That's good enough for me.

only thing i wasn't aware of was i thought all of ireland was included under the "UK" Banner.

otherwise, i knew it all >.>

and it's not like that's particularly relevant info to my life. knowing geography of the british empire isn't gonna make me do derivatives and integrals any better.
