One thing that scares the hell out of me was all the talk about UHC. There is no way to do UHC with out either bankrupting the country or lowering the standard of care for those with insurance. This is not the time for UHC many things need to be taken care of before we can go down that road. Starting with securing the boarder and getting people to choose healthier lifestyles.

Why do you think America is unable to create a UHC system when EVERY other developed nation can cover 100% of its citizens?

Two words medicare and medicaid. Both of the government health programs are a complete disaster. No chance in hell I would ever turn in my insurance for either of those 2 programs.

LMAO Obama right center of the democratic party. Obama is way out on the extreme left with his partner Pelosi. Obama cemented his place in the extreme left when he chose his tree hugger special interests over the working class.

LOL you think that Obama and Pelosi are extreme left?

Make that  x2 since you seem to feel that environmentalism determines how extreme left someone is... You're getting into ultimate self-pwnage territory here - I'd recommend getting some rudimentary political science knowledge before getting too into P&N.

 The working class has been getting screwed over by the right and if McCain is elected will continue to get screwed over by them.

Anyone see footage of the DPD hosing down the crowds with pepper spray cannons? Brilliant. Why the hell are the democrats violently protesting their own convention?

Obama is not extreme left... I can't really think of anyone in the senate that I'd label as extreme left.

but right center? Obama marches in lockstep with the democratic party, I can't think of a major issue where I think he takes a conservative approach.

The one thing that will be on everyones mind once the speeches have been made, the balloons have been dropped, and the doors close on the stadium will be, "Bring Back Crystal Pepsi!"

I'm just thinking, how long can you keep saying "YES WE CAN!" until everyone is fucking sick of it? Can what? "CHANGE"

....

Hold on, Chuck Norris just popped on the tube, be back later.

I thought that the Hillary Clinton speech (just concluded) was great. I think she would have been better to leave out the anecdotes of the mother with cancer who adopts two autistic children, the Marine Corps soldier who asks her to take care of his buddies overseas - it just sounds so fake.

Otherwise, smartly played. She didn't speak of Obama's character because that would ring rather hollow/hypocritical. She said that these are the values a Democrat inhibits, and Senator Obama will deliver on these issues in spades. I think this will ring true to many rabid Clintonite women who resent Senator Obama - that it's still in their interest to vote for him come the election.

Those kids in the streets aren't rank and file dems. You really need to get out more.

They aren't even Democrats. Many of them are Greens or anarchists or have a singular agenda that isn't being handled to their liking by the government.

what the hell is wrong with the democratic party? lol

apparently the Obama people clamped down on any Bill Clinton signs in the audience, despite the presence of signs cheering on the only democrat to win the white house since 1976 at both the 2000 and 2004 conventions.

I would say it was quite the mistake to put biden on after bill clinton. This speech is a huge let down after listening to Bill. They should of put up a much weaker speaker before biden. I almost feel bad for the man having to go on after one of the best.

no, you misunderstood. By "holding responsible" he means "give them a stern talking to so they understand"

Is it typical for the candidate to crash the convention a day early, or is Obama concerned about it being a yawnfest?

Since announcing the Biden selection he's been losing ground in the polls every day. Just trying to bail water out of his dingy at this point.

How was Bill's speech??

I missed it, but I heard most of Biden's. Sort of tuned it out half way through.

The guy does have a great personal story.

Democrats have been having wet dreams about a ticket like this for years. The son of a single mom and a single parent who lost a wife and child in a car crash. It's like the Hollywood version of the perfect White House.
