I don't really get the legality issues here. Since he's 24 what law would prohibit from kicking him out? I could understand if he was under 18 or something.

If the son is not even trying at life I say kick him out. I'm saying that and I'm 23 and only recently left my parents' house. Difference is, I actually tried at life. People who don't even try should be forced to the real world imo.

Come to think of it, I'm guessing he has his own room? If yes just turn his power off and put a breaker lock on it. If he's smart enough to go in the panel and jumper it or something, then find a way to lock the panel cover too or even better the room it's in, if it's possible.

Income Tax evasion is no different than stealing from the poor, expecially when it is thousands of dollars in tax evasion.

I take it you would have no problem if bill gates decided he no longer needed to pay taxes.

Give it a rest before you blow a gasket.

None of those are felonies. No I have never commited a felony. He plans to steal thousands of dollars from the poor.

Um... yeah - failure to pay use tax probably would be a felony - you'd be lying on your state tax return, (also known as tax evasion).

You're such a fucking tool.

The is proably one of the few threads I would actually pay money to see the final outcome. I can't wait for March 20th. National Deadbeat Ass-kicking Day!

I say on March 20 landlords from coast to coast should be allowed to kick leeches off their properties with no legal consequences.

So at night he tells us that he is moving to another province...I think great...he said that he has a labour's job hauling materials for a construction site. He met a guy on WOW and he's going to move in with him...I see a train wreck coming...I dont care what he does as long as he is gone. Time is a ticking now....

He agreed to be a concubine without realizing it ;)

Of course you don't care. Its not your kid. You're so concerned about someone paying you rent every month. But then you're a "step" parent so he's just a bastard to you.

The only thing I have "against" this situation is part of the reason I think the problem hasn't changed.

The OP doesn't want the kid to do well. He wants him to fail. There seems to be a tint (understatement perhaps?) of sadism in his attitude towards the kid. I'm not sure how you could care so little about someone who the person you love loves, but to each his own I suppose.

I agree that he doesn't deserve to be there, but I think you hope he continues to slack, and I think you'd LOVE to see him, literally, on the streets. I think you love the image of him begging for change, or one of many other "pathetic" situations he could be in.

I'm sure you go to sleep happy tonight because you have this image of him clawing on your door when you hope he fails at whatever job he's moving to, and you being able to completely ignore him as he begs... high and mighty.

I suppose for every compassionate person, you need 2 cold ones.

Personally I can't say I'd feel too motivated on a day-to-day basis with someone like you to greet me on a daily basis with a healthy dose of pessimism towards me. My GF's stepdad sounds really similar to you, she hasn't seen him in years but the psychological problems are still just as bad as the day she was able to get away from that asshole. I'm guessing this has just been his way to "stick" it to you, I'd have to admit, I'd probably do something the same if I were in his place.

I find it hilarious that somehow through this thread people have convinced themselves that because the kid is a douchebag, tax evasion is OK!

LOL You people.

I read this entire thread. Yeah, I'm at work, OK? :p Anyway...

I'm siding with the OP, but I also agree with whoever suggested to the young man to WalMart, get him a job and force him to pay some nominal amount in rent. The young man (NOT a kid, he's 24!) needs to learn to earn his own way in this world. As another poster so elegantly stated "The fridge doesn't stock itself." Word. The guy sits around, eats, shits and plays WoW. He doesn't help around the house, doesn't cut the lawn...nothing. He's not contributing.

While I think the guy needs to be kicked out to get reality into his head, he's only going to come back. Either on his own or with a phone call from the police. He'll be sleeping in various friends' garages until THEIR parents find out and either kick him out, call the cops or call the OP to say "Why is your son here? Don't you love him?" Then, the guy'll be back at your door, his mom will be crying and force you to take him back.

When it comes down to the wire, the guy is not going to leave. So are you going to grab his lazy ass and physically fling him onto the front lawn? He'll come back. Then, you're going to have to get an order of protection/no contact order from the police. And then what? Every time he shows up, you gotta call the cops, the neighbors will film it and put in on youtube, etc. Think about it. You know it's gonna happen.

If you want him GONE for GOOD, you need to put up with him for a little while longer. Help him to help YOURSELF. Make him work at WalMart, save up his rent money and when he's ready to move out, that money will be his first months's rent/security payment/etc.

Good luck, OP. I don't envy your position one bit. This is why I didn't marry someone who already had kids. This is exactly the reason why. Good luck, man.

Just another alpha male eating the male cub of another mating male. Happens every day.

Can't believe you would let the girl sink in a POS car, though. That's just cruel.

I wonder what the cost of rebuilding a relationship or two might be?

As I said to my brother regarding his selling my PA system, tools etc....." I can buy more shit, where do you buy integrity or character?"

Good luck with all of this. Sounds interesting. See you on the 21st.

Your idea that he owes the poor money, or worse still that the poor "own" some percentage of others' product is sickening.

SOCIALISM

Scary huh? I wonder how much money you've had to pay into a failing Social Security system that in all probability you will never be able to get back?
