Rented two movies on sunday and since i've seen all the commercials, decided it would be fine to keep them an extra 2-3 days....

Sucks for me, turns out this No Late Fees arrangement is ONLY available at Blockbuster corporate stores, not any franchise locations. Spoke to the manager at my local BB and it turns out nearly 1/3 - 1/2 of all BB stores are not corporately owned and the only way to find out which is which is by asking.

Whatta load of advertising crap!

Besides even if there are no fees you buy the movies if you don't return them after 7 days past the due date. So buy 4 or 5 movies and get anywhere from $50-$100 charged to your credit card. YIKES!

here's a hint. there's a shitload of signs up at any blockbuster that has no late fees. if the signs aren't up, fees are still in effect. no need to ask.

Well, if you don't return it, it's yours. They just keep charging your CC $18/month.

Not according the fine print at Blockbuster.com
...However, if a member chooses to keep a rental item more than a week after the end of the rental period, Blockbuster will automatically convert the rental to a sale on the eight (8th) day after the end of the rental period...

i do the thing at blockbuster where i pay $30 and can have 2 movies out as long as i want and can get as many different movies as i want for an entire month. much better than netflix IMHO...

$14.99/mo for 3 via mail, plus coupons for 2 in-store rentals/mo.

YOU are angry because YOU failed to ask someone at the store about this?

This is why we have so many "victims" in america. No one bothers to RESEARCH anything, or ask simple questions. Blockbuster cannot make the franchisees promote this offer, as I believe iit would be illegal. I mean, c'mon, you never even stopped to consider that your local BB might be a franchise?

I think he makes a valid point. The advertising blitz Blockbuster is currently airing implies that they are stopping late fees. It doesn't say it's only certain stores except for some very small print flashed at the bottom of the screen for .000005 seconds. I was only able to read it one day because I was right in front of the TV. I agree people need to be more informed, but the ad is misleading.
