Sucks for me, turns out this No Late Fees arrangement is ONLY available at Blockbuster corporate stores, not any franchise locations. Spoke to the manager at my local BB and it turns out nearly 1/3 - 1/2 of all BB stores are not corporately owned and the only way to find out which is which is by asking.
Whatta load of advertising crap!
YOU are angry because YOU failed to ask someone at the store about this?
This is why we have so many "victims" in america. No one bothers to RESEARCH anything, or ask simple questions. Blockbuster cannot make the franchisees promote this offer, as I believe iit would be illegal. I mean, c'mon, you never even stopped to consider that your local BB might be a franchise?

i do the thing at blockbuster where i pay $30 and can have 2 movies out as long as i want and can get as many different movies as i want for an entire month. much better than netflix IMHO...
strange its 30 for 2 movies at your location? its 30 for 3 movies for me. its more than netflix but since blockbuster is so close its down a hill its beats waiting a day. great way to exercise too, walk down hill jog back up
I rented 136 movies in one month from Hollywood Video for $10 a month (first three months). Thats the record at the store I go to. Don't think it'll ever be beat either.
There's a difference when you see the McDonald's price on the menu in the store.Originally posted by: CTrain

i'd agree with you on this in most cases, but not in this one. what percentage of people actually thought that it might not apply to their local blockbuster?
Same rule applies thing when McDonalds advertise certain sandwiches for $1.
Not all McDonalds will sell those sandwiches for $1.
So you get mad too when certain McDonalds don't sell them for $1.
Just because you see something advertise on TV, it doesn't mean they're all true.
So next thing you're going to tell me you believe everything you see advertise on TV ??
The rule of thumb here is ASK ??
Was it too hard to call up your local BB and ask ??

So you were a dumbass and ASSUMED something that happened to be wrong, and somehow Blockbuster is responsible for your dumbassery?

rent movies, make backup's, return them, rent more. Unless Quasmo is some kind of movie critic who only watches DVD's all day long.![]()

Why would Joe everyday consumer research whether or not blockbuster has no more late fees when that stupid commercial is on every commercial break? Isn't it reasonable to assume that they mean all Blockbusters? How the fck are people supposed to know that BB has both corporate locations and franchises to begin with?
Dammit. Even the informed ones don't know.Originally posted by: torpid
Get your facts straight before whining people. If you keep it too long you are charged for the price of the movie. True. But you can return it for a small restocking fee of $1.50 within 30 days. However, if you have a credit card on file (don't recommend it because of this) they won't credit the card back, they will credit your bb account. If you don't put a credit card on file the purchase price will be on your bb account.

I think he makes a valid point. The advertising blitz Blockbuster is currently airing implies that they are stopping late fees. It doesn't say it's only certain stores except for some very small print flashed at the bottom of the screen for .000005 seconds. I was only able to read it one day because I was right in front of the TV. I agree people need to be more informed, but the ad is misleading.
Maybe, but how long does it take to call your local BB and make sure? I ALWAYS assume that strings will be attached when a major corporation advertises something like this.
Agreed....
I don't rent from that craptastic place anyhow...I prefer to rent from the local store and support small business in my community.

HERE IS THE ACTUAL EXPLANATION OF THE POLICY PEOPLE:
If you rent a movie and don't bring it back within 7 days from the due date, you're charged for the movie. If you have a credit card on file, you're charged on there, otherwise, you're charged on your Blockbuster account. If you bring the movie back within 30 days, you're credited back the amount of the sale. The credit will be issued to your Blockbuster account regardless of which method you were charged. However, if your credit card was charged, you can go to the store and request that the credit be applied to your credit card instead of your BB account.

I would. considering the commercial leads you to belive that it is good at all locations. They should run a fine print at the bottom of the commercial that says something like the fast food commercials "good only at participating locations"
