Irrelevant. If parental permission is needed for something as benign as getting a cavity filled by the dentist, it certainly should be needed for something far more risky like having an abortion.

Of course, also allowing a judge to step in is important, for those very few cases of parental rape of their children.

Early stage abortions are not really that risky.

Then the man should be more careful where he sticks his penis...and what he does with it.
Don't want to be liable for child support payments for a child you don't want? Don't fertilize the eggs...put a raincoat on that soldier...

Once you impregnate the female, YOU'RE fucked because it's now HER body...and HER choice.

That's a common argument from the feminazis. Last I checked, it takes two people to have sex, and guess what - the woman also has the final say and power to deny sex to the man. So, if this was a fair system, the women would be held more accountable for sex and the kids they pop out. But don't expect logical thought and reason from the feminazi camp.

Agreed. feminazis argue that you can't punish a woman for having sex by forcing her to carry an unwanted child, but they seem to think it's fine to punish a man for having sex by making him pay for an unwanted child.

Lol. You need to get out more. I grew up where the overwhelming majority of people didn't engage in sexual activity until they were married. That's a long time to exhibit self control over their raging hormones.

Either the "majority of people" is lying, or you are.

Its funny how the rightwing dipshits only care about equality when money is involved. When you have a worldview that can't handle critical thinking I guess that's the result.

Parental consent is needed to have a tooth filled due to having a cavity. It should also be needed for an abortion, since abortions are riskier than having your cavity filled at the dentist.

o_O

Can you back up this claim? I'm honestly curious as to where it came from. If a 16 or 17yr old walks into a dentist's office and can pay for the procedure, would he/she be turned away? My instinct tells me no.

Low blow, HAL. You are supposed to wait until they return from their vacation to taunt them. It is only sporting if they have a chance to respond...

He's permabanned, I'd guess he's a RBM or someones second account, there's no infraction or vacation issued for any of his posts.

Here is one for the Virginia School District:
http://www.vahealth.org/dental/manual/documents/2008/docs/SchoolScreeningForms.doc

Here is one from a dentist in Texas:
http://thompsondds.com/files/Download/DENTAL PARENTAL CONSENT FORM.pdf

This one is from Minnesota, and is specifically for children and adolescents:

http://www.childrensdent.com/ParentLegalGuardianConsent.aspx

The thing they all have in common is they are required for minors. If you are under 18, you need adult consent.

Would a dentist turn away a 17 year old with cash who wanted his cavity filled? Dunno, but legally he is probably supposed to.

Huh. I see. Well, I think that the spirit of the law should allow for said minor to seek routine medical treatment such as a filling, but the letter of the law does not accommodate that. Unfortunately the legal realm is full of many of these discrepancies.

Yeah...it all comes down to being sued by the parents even if the procedure is done properly. Stupid lawsuits make people create stupid rules sometimes.

So cynical. Do you believe this is not possible because of your own lack of self control? Is your world view so myopic that you can't fathom other people doing what you choose not to?

It's true. However, society was vastly different in those days. People got married much earlier, and women who engaged in pre-marital sex were ostracized.

I'm actually in my early 30's so it wasn't that long ago.

Here's a slight tangent...

What can the mother do if she had multiple partners around the same time and does not know who the father was when she conceived? Assume everyone involved is unmarried/not engaged/not in a domestic partnership. How would she be entitled to child support in that case? Does welfare work in lieu of child support or if she is already on welfare, would that entitle her to more money on top of the welfare? Will she be required/able to petition for child support and, if so, how would she collect child support not knowing who the real father is?

I fuckin hate feminism, but your argument is so stupid.

Women have to carry the baby. That changes the whole game. While that's the case they have the final say.

When the day comes that men can carry a child to term, the argument might change, but until that day comes you idiots need to STFU and accept that women have control over their own body.

Deal with it.

Generally, people that use ridiculous terms like "feminazi" have been in their own echo chambers of hate for so long that there is little use in debating them.

The primary argument is that a man cannot say he does not want the responsibility for the child, but the woman can. The desire of the man to have or not have responsibility is ignored while the desire of the woman is made gold.

BOTH are responsible for the creation of the child, yet only ONE has the ability to shirk the responsibility. Equality of the sexes cannot exist when men are forced to be responsible for a child they do not want but women are not.

They have to? It's a fucking choice, if she doesn't want the kid, she doesn't have to carry it. They already have all the control in the world, but apparently it's not enough for you libotards - you'd rather she shifted the cost and expenses of her choice on someone else.

No, it's entirely from observation.

Some of you people need to accept that men and women do not have equal rights when it comes to a child because men and women don't bear equal responsibility when it comes to birthing a child. A woman has to carry the child inside her for 9 months, and the man doesn't, so trying to pretend that they are equal is insane. The woman has more say, and that is just the way it is. We're not talking about dropping by the pet store and picking up a puppy together.
