Ok, so you wrote a book, she wrote a book, you may be both equally qualified in your own mind, but at the end of the day, your logic stinks, you are in a distinct minority, she threw her hat in the ring and you did not, and Caroline may or may not get the appointment from the New York Governor.

Get over it PokerGuy, you ain't the decider, and in a game where high hand wins, you have the lowest hand in existence, a 2, 3, 4, 6,7, maybe a world beater in a game of low, but other wise, anything beats your nothing. Notice I missed the ace, I sure would not you to have the option of declaring it high or low at your illogical convince.

Dude, are you delusional? Of course none of us are the decider. You were busy yappin' about Bush and his gang over the last 8 years, yet you had the same "nothing" hand that we all have, but it didn't stop you from posting did it?

I'm still waiting for someone to provide any reasonable qualifications for her to be a senator, other than "she's a Kennedy". "She's a Kennedy" is not a qualification, any more than Jenna Bush is qualfied to be president. "She threw her hat in the ring" is also not a qualification, anyone can throw their hat in the ring. So far, the summary of why she's likely to become a powerful senator is "she's a democrat, and she's a Kennedy".

Craig, please stop the babbling trying to compare relative merits of one "political family" versus another. The Kennedy's have plenty of skeletons in there, from pedos to murderers to drunkards etc, just like *any* family. It's completely irrelevant as to whether one specific individual is qualified for a job or not.

How much is she willing to pay for the seat? That seems to be about all the democrat criminals in congress are interested in these days.

Idiot, one Democratic Governor was a criminal trying to sell the seat. The Democrats in Congress are supporting his arrest and refusing to seat his nominee.

One democrat governor was caught. How many more corrupt democrats are out there?

Why would anyone even talk with you?

Oh, and four more. You find them.

See! You admit to it! ;)

Why are you repeating this crap? If you don't want to discuss things that you are not in control of, feel free to leave P&N entirely. Things that we are not in control of are pretty much all that is discussed here.

All hail to loki8481, who beat Brainonska511 by four minutes. Still can't get any details from the link yet, but oh well. But still good find for both.

I only saw the news because of loki. I'm happy that Kennedy is withdrawing her bid.

Kennedy Is Said to Withdraw Senate Bid

Caroline Kennedy has withdrawn from consideration for the vacant Senate seat in New York, according to a person told of her decision.

On Wednesday she called the governor, David Paterson, who is making the selection of who should succeed Senator Hillary Clinton. Her concerns about Senator Edward M. Kennedy?s deteriorating health (he was hospitalized after a seizure during the inaugural lunch on Tuesday ) prompted her decision to withdraw, this person said. Coping with the health issues of her uncle, with whom she enjoys an extraordinarily close bond, was her most important priority; a situation not conducive to starting a high profile public job.

She was planning to issue a statement on Wednesday evening.

Ms. Kennedy?s decision comes nearly two months after she, along with several members of Congress and leading political officials, began auditioning to replace Hillary Rodham Clinton in the coveted position.

The decision is certain to startle the political world.Ms. Kennedy had gained the support of some powerful backers in the state, including several labor officials and a top aide to Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, Kevin Sheekey.

But her pursuit of the seat also set off resistance, with some local Democratic officials suggesting it smacked of entitlement, and polls showing voters preferring Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo for the position. Ms. Kennedy, 51, the daughter of President John F. Kennedy and a resident of the Upper East Side of Manhattan, has never served in public office.

Gov. David A. Paterson plans to announce on Saturday whom he has selected. The governor has been coy about his decision, and while he has praised Ms. Kennedy, he has also spoken approvingly of other candidates, including Mr. Cuomo and Rep. Kirsten Gillibrand, who is beginning her second term as a congresswoman from the Albany area.

Mrs. Clinton resigned from the Senate late Wednesday, immediately after being sworn in as secretary of state.

of course, who knows how much is true and how much is just saving face because she knew Patterson wasn't going to pick her.

I wonder if there are plans in place for her to take over her uncle's seat.

Gov. Patterson likely to make his decision Saturday.

I think Paterson has already made his decision, hence this news. She won't be a Senator until maybe 2010. The best she can hope for is that a placeholder is selected, that would signal Paterson compromised. Anyone like Cuomo and he stuck it to Obama.

Why not choose a hard working Congressman or member of the state legislature who was born into a family of modest means instead?

Well look who we elected as a president..... it doesn't take much.

Gov. Patterson likely to make his decision Saturday.

Good riddance, Kennedy was not even remotely qualified for the position, other than Craig's crazy logic of "well, she saw her uncle/father/relative in politics, so she is qualified".

I'll give Patterson the benefit of the doubt as to whether he'll end up handing it to some other completely unqualified cronie/DNC benefactor/Celeb, or give it to someone qualified.

I'm really thinking it'll be Cuomo... he's not entirely unqualified (current NYS AG) and it would probably take him out of contention to run against Patterson in the next gubernatorial primaries.

Good riddance. I wonder what the real reason is. Her drunktard uncle being sick sounds fake.

You'd think she would have been able to come up with the required 'fee' to democrat party officials.. Maybe we need the IL governor to handle the negotiations.

I think this is the most likely outcome. Takes Cuomo out of the primaries, and he'll probably tap Suozzi as Lt. Gov, making everyone happy and ensuring his own election.

She has dropped drastically in the public opinion polls here in NY recently, with Cuomo being favored over her. I think dropping out with her excuse is a face saving maneuver.

LOL So much for that priciple. Craig, would you like to rescind your "idiot" comment now that it only applies to you?

We can see that the opponents of Caroline Kennedy have won, the era of saying my name is Kennedy, I deserve a seat in Congress or the Senate has past, somewhat due to too many Kennedy(s) who did not do well.
Nor could Hillary use the Clinton name to walk into the white house. And for that matter, one too many Bush's flopped badly and that political dynasty may come to a screeching halt end. A Bush political dynasty that pre-dated the Kennedy one on the national political scene.

But its already speculated that Caroline will run for Senate in 2010, but if she does, she will have to earn it from the voters.
