The obvious answer is to tax/tag/insure/license ciclists just like motorcyclists. Use that money to pay for bike lanes. But the lance armstrong lobbyists won't let that happen. As a result you get what's in this thread, the majority of drivers justifiably disliking ciclists.

Besides, as has been discussed before, the ciclists aren't happy with bike lanes. Most of them ride in the road anyway, because they pedal way too fast and other ciclists hold up their workout routines which is unacceptable.

Instead they hold up people trying to drive to work, because the entire universe revolves around their insecure spandex covered butthole.

The only thing more pretentious than these scumbag adults pretending they are important on their children's toys are hipster scumbags parading around as "zombies" illegally holding up traffic.

Yeah because every time we see a cyclist on youtube getting harrassed or wronged they are the immigrant types who appear they cannot afford a car. RIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT. Those who complain have the option, undoubtedly. What I'm saying is they're making the worse choice between the 2, then get angry that they almost lost their life playing in traffic. Stupid drivers sharing the road with stubborn cyclists. Sounds legit.

How is needing to get to work "stubborn"?, in this area wages are low so yes, some people can't afford a car payment and want to work a job. It's 5:30 AM when I see these riders, they stay to the right as far as possible and attach multiple blinking lights to their bike to hopefully not get clobbered, these people are not "playing in traffic" for God's sake, they are going to work.

Of all the idiotic things I've seen SA say re: cycling, this is a classic favorite. What fucking lobbyists are you talking about?! Oh wait... you mean the ones we seat right next to Halliburton? Yeah they're real evil SOBs!

Anyone feel like digging up SA's post about how skillful his driving is, as he passes a cyclist by careening around a blind corner? That was sheer brilliance.

And to all the mouthbreathers who keep bawling over cyclists running stop signs, you can knock that shit off until you can achieve even 50% compliance from your fellow motorists. If a cyclist pulls a California stop, there's an extremely high probability that he's only endangering himself. A car on the other hand... Here's the thing, neither group is exactly married to the notion of following the rules of the road. I'm not justifying either action in the slightest, but that's a pretty weak point to prop your fight upon.

In all of my life I haven't had a cyclist take up more than 15 seconds of my time. I'm amazed at the amount of anger relative to the magnitude of inconvenience they create.

Like I said, if I even have to tap my brakes, you are an inconvenience. Try to live your life without inconveniencing other people. It will make you a better person, instead of an asshole.

I'm following the rules of the road. If you're tailgating, then you're doing it wrong.

You don't have to type these things, it's a choice, just like tailgating.

I think it's comical you find the "brake check" a valid reason for license forfeiture but on the other hand totally cool with tailgating. Thanks, I needed a good lol today.
Remember, tailgating is only okay in specific situations, and all of those situations are ones where the person being tailgated is at fault.

Never tailgate a vehicle in front of you. Tailgating is illegal and the main cause of rear-
end crashes. The fine for tailgating can be as high as $100.

And of course, right below it:

If a tailgater is behind you, move to another lane or pull to the side of the road to let the
tailgater pass.

So let's recap. According to the Mass drivers manual, tailgating is never ok. But since we know some people are idiots and feel like it is ok, it says to get out of the way.

So, as I said, if you're tailgating then you're doing it wrong. And if you're tailgating me then you're an idiot because there's a passing lane to your left, and I'm already going the speed limit. On rural roads, I'm doing the speed limit, and you can pass whenever you please. Yes, whenever, it won't effect me if you pass in a double yellow...and I prefer you get away from me anyways.

I've actually done what the manual states and pulled over to let people pass. Mainly because these peope were too stupid to pass in the passing zone, but instead thought it was ok to just continue tailgating me.

The best one was when my wife (gf at the time) was driving my drunk ass home early in the morning and some jerk was tailgating us for no reason. We were going 5 over the limit, and the cops around here will get ya for anymore because they're bored. Well we finally pulled over to let the guy pass, and who goes racing by us while we were stilled on the side of the road? The cops, pulling him over for being a dick.

I've search a few sections of the manual, haven't found anything on brake checking though.

Yes, even the Mass handbook tells you to get out of the way, including pulling to the side of the road if there is no other lane. Of course, I never said tailgating when there is a single lane is okay. The only time that is okay is when the person is driving below the speed limit. I'm not a huge fan of people who drive exactly the speed limit either, because to me that means they probably shouldn't be driving in the first place, but I wouldn't tailgate them anyway.

I think this varies quite a bit based on the area.

Where I live, we have bike lanes but the lance armstrong wanna-bes refuse to use them. They claim they are "held up" by slower ciclists, however it's somehow acceptable for them to hold up the roadways...

We have lots of 45mph 2-lane roads. Even the most lance armtrongiest ciclists cannot even come close to keeping up.

So, they "hold the lane", the ride in the very center. Once there's a line of 10-20 cars behind them, they start to pass.

So begins the process of zooming by the moronic ciclist, totally unaware of the danger he's creating for both himself and motorists.

Then... After 10-20 cars have passed the ciclist, we come up to a red light. What does the ciclist do? All the sudden he doesn't want to follow the rules of the road, and filters to the front of the red light just to hold everyone up all over again.

10-20 people with ~20 minutes added to their commute. 20 more minutes of pollution, traffic, and time all due to the moronic ciclists which only follow laws that benefit them and swap between being a car/ciclist/pedstrian on a whim.

I don't know about anyone else but all of your cunty bitching makes me want to go ride my bike in the street while merrily taking the lane.

I have a car too.

So now do I not need to pay tax/tag/insurance on my weekend car, trailer, motorcycle, wife's car, boat, boat trailer?

Ciclists are literally the only object on the road that think they shouldn't have to pay taxes. Yet they demand more special treatment than anyone else. It boggles my mind that you all even try to make these ridiculous illogical arguments while being the most dangerous things on the roadways.
