I lived in Cali. Great place to visit, but i far prefer Michigan as far as a place to live.

I live here too...but would like to move to CO.

There's a lot of cool stuff here, but there is a lot of cool stuff all over this nation. Grand Canyon, Crater Lake, Rocky Mountains, Grand Tetons, etc.

sure are alot of Cali haters

Agree, these haters wish they lived in California.

I did. In more than one area. And while I enjoyed the people in California (with the exception of when I was driving, which is when Cal-insanity comes out strongest!!), I couldn't stand the idiotic politics, the insane taxes, and the cost of living. Did I mention the taxes??

Every place has it's highs and lows. California's no exception. I'm glad you guys like it there, but seriously, it has a few too many faults to be considered the greatest state. If you don't believe me, I give you one name......Diane Feinstein. Geez, I still haven't figured out how that whack job made it into public office!!

Oh yeah, and I bet at least half of the hot women in California are imports. Sure doesn't help having hollywood AND the porn industry centered there, does it??

So educated you think the prez is elected by one state:eek: By the way Cali has more electoral votes than Tex, You elected bush more than me:)
The Republicans didn't give CA a second thought. They knew that if they needed CA, they were gonna lose by plenty. They spent next to nothing in TV advertisements in CA, knew it was a lost cause. All that --bleep-- showed in Ohio, etc. We "heard" about it here, didn't see that crud.

I wouldn't declare CA the greatest state, simply because I haven't been to a mess of them, much less spent a lot of time in them for some time. However, I am aware that where I live is some of the greatest weather in the world. Almost all of the USA has a lot of weather that is much harder to tolerate a lot of the time. It's almost never insufferable where I am and there is enough difference in the seasons to make it interesting. I probably wouldn't fully appreciate CA without leaving it for a while. However, I never would have left Maui if I could have stayed there! :D

California
Sung By: Frank Sinatra

I've known her valleys, I've known her mountains
Her missions and her courtyards and her fountains
The giant redwoods towering in the skies of her
That grow as though as they know they show the size of her
I've often wandered her farthest reaches
Her deserts and her snow and, yes, her beaches
A land that paradise could well be jealous of
That's California, California, blessed by heaven from above
That's California, land I love
(I've known her valleys, I've known her mountains)
(Her missions and her courtyards and her fountains)
(The giant redwoods towering in the skies of her)
(That grow as though as they know they show the size of her)
I've often wandered her farthest reaches
Her deserts and her snows and, yes, her beaches
A land that paradise could well be jealous of
That's California, California, bless'd by heaven from above
That's California, the land I lovehttp://sinatrasonglyrics.com/getsong.php?songid=104

Actually, California is not overpopulated at all. There are more people/square mile in most Eastern states than California.
Yes, but vast regions of California are uninhabitable either due to their being too mountainous or national forests/reserves.

The actual areas of urban population are overcrowded, congested nightmares...you are either forced to purchase an overpriced home in an overcrowded area, or live with the freaky desert dwellers and face a 2hr commute each way.

Agree, these haters wish they lived in California.
I do...I have lived in the Northeast, the Midwest, the Southeast and even visited much of the Northwest and Southwest...also spend a few years in Europe...of all the placed I have lived, California is my least favorite save for Missouri and Kentucky.

I dont like high cost of living, but does higher $$$/sq feet really matter that much? That, as long as you can afford something halfway decent of course.
Maybe its just me, I fail to see a point in having an overly large house for more maintenance & cleaning nitemare.

I enjoyed my 2 month long visit to california, but who knows what its like to live there for years. Still, if I had a choice I am definitely moving to california.

I don't know much about California, but it can't be all that bad. If I had to pick three states where I would never want to live, they would be (in order of worst to least horrible): Arkansas, Texas, Florida.

Ha freaking ha...

I'd take Rockland County, NY over Santa Cruz, CA ANY DAY, as boring as people say it is. It'll always be my home >.> people here are way too laid back, stupid, careless, etc. in general.

I live in Rockland County... I've never been to Santa Cruz, but I don't particularly like it here. Not much to do.

I'm just curious, I have a good idea already, but... I just remembered, this is the guy (DVK916) who fancies himself a hardcore totalitarianist. His dream home is smack in the middle of North Korea, or so he claims.

Yeah, it was a laugh riot.

I used to think that if I went to college, I'd only want to do it on the coast. Either California or New York/New England area. The more I thought about it though the more I realized that no, I don't want to be in California. I guess I don't have much to say other than all the major cities in California seem like perfectly nice places to visit. Once in your life. But with LA being a smoggy hellhole and San Francisco being so... damn... so damn... wet... I don't think I'd like to spend more than a week at a time in either place.
