I just finally unlocked my 4th weapon slot last night. I'm playing as Axton and I'm still not sure how to spec him. I need to spend some time reviewing everything and my play style. I mostly use sniper rifles to pick off guys from far away and assault rifles up close. I carry a launcher for tougher enemies/bosses.

I've been using the same type of assault rifle pretty much the entire game. Each shot consumes 4 bullets and launches a miniature explosive rocket. Clip size is currently 32, so I get 8 shots between reloads. Current weapon is ~500 damage.

My sniper rifle is getting pretty old. I think I might start carrying 2. The current one has a very high fire speed with lower damage (and no elemental damage) so I can pick off groups of weaker enemies from far away. I think I'm going to also carry a slower elemental sniper rifle with about twice the damage, for larger enemies.

I've also been using a shock pistol that pretty much destroys everything, but it's not as much fun as an assault rifle.

I don't especially like shotguns or SMGs.

I believe the currently releasing keys expire after a certain number of uses and not a certain amount of time, however I think they're expected to expire in 2-4 hours given the consumption rate.

wish i was at home to snag one.. oh well.

I don't know if you have a smartphone, but I wasn't home when I saw it either. I entered it using Splashtop Remote Desktop on my phone. Luckily, Borderlands 2's title menus are good at supporting the keyboard (TAB, etc.).

any idea when this expires? I should have checked the thread before I left home haha.

It has no expiration date, but it has a limited number of redemptions. I think Randy said he expects it to last for 2-4 hours based on how many he's seen for others.

I finally unlocked my fourth slot with Gaige as well!

I've been using the same type of assault rifle pretty much the entire game. Each shot consumes 4 bullets and launches a miniature explosive rocket. Clip size is currently 32, so I get 8 shots between reloads. Current weapon is ~500 damage.

I'm not a huge fan of those because of the extra bullet consumption. In my opinion, the explosive gatling guns are pretty much just as good and they only consume one bullet per shot. Speaking of those guns, I realized that Maya has one that Gaige can use (Maya's has over 2x as much damage as the one Gaige has), but I don't have a good replacement one for Maya. So, I might swap back to my Siren for a bit to see if I can get a good replacement or simply out-level it enough that it's not worth using. I also wouldn't mind out-leveling my awesome assault rifle so I can give that to my Mechromancer in five levels.

I've been fairly okay with not using the explosive gatling gun on my Mechromancer, because the Teapot gun that you get from Tina is just ridiculously awesome for awhile. I just run up to enemies and shoot them in the face.

I use two sniper rifles right now. I have a high damage, non-elemental, burst-fire one and an incendiary one. Incendiary is fantastic against humanoids, but since I'm on my Mechromancer, I don't use it once I get above 70-80 stacks of Anarchy as it's too hard to reliably hit stuff.

I don't especially like shotguns or SMGs.

I've never been a huge fan of shotguns or rocket launchers, but I do like SMGs. However, I usually have a hard time finding a good SMG. I think the problem is that most SMGs that are currently in the game are just too dull. I've used a few with my Mechromancer, but it doesn't take long for me to find another gun to replace it with.

How do you actually use codes? I haven't looked around in the game or options for Shift because I'm never at home when the codes get released.

To redeem a code, go in the main menu of the game under "Extras", should be a Redeem Code option. Paste your code in there.

To use any keys you have: When you log a character into the game, or if you're in the game, there's a chest in the same building in Sanctuary as the Fast Travel station. If you have keys, you can open that chest.

*Before you can redeem codes you need to go through the short "Sign up" process for Shift though. Which actually nets you another key by itself.

Has anyone found any other chests? I thought I remember reading that the golden keys were to be used to open the "mysterious chests hidden around Pandora" or something like that.

Spoilerish possibly:

If you tip Moxxi enough she will give you a corrosive element SMG and then if you tip her enough again she will give you a fire element SMG. You can only get one corrosive element SMG per playthrough but you can get an infinite number of the fire element SMGs. It will be the level of your character at the time. These weapons are very solid and the fire element one I have spanks my Hellfire to pieces. There is also a guaranteed SMG (Lacraux or something) that you can find in a puddle in Frostburn Canyon. It has 100% weapon recoil reduction and shoots in a very consistent spread. It destroys enemies at close range.

Ah, I've heard about how you could get those guns, but I didn't know that they were that good. I know that one that you're talking about (the Lacausx) and how you find it on the ground, but the problem that I've had with it is that it just isn't very powerful. I think the problem is that in Borderlands 1, my non-elemental SMG was the Desert Anarchy, which fires four bullets at once. It was simply powerful because it unloaded so many bullets at once, and pretty much mandated that you use an ammo regen class mod. :p

I used Lascuex alot. It deals x2 damage at the cost of 1 shot. Its better than most smgs I find, except for etech plasma casters. Its more of a close up weapon, but it works very well with sirens and wreck. You can keep respawning it, just by reentering Frostburn till you get one with decent damage range for your level. Also, I have not seen any anarchy x4 smgs in 2 which is a shame.

I stopped playing the DLC not even half way through Oasis due to the performance issues. I really hope they sort it out.

is there a minimum amount for this to work?

Yeah she'll say something after certain amounts of tips and when she gives you the gun she'll say something like "this isn't my favorite gun" and you'll get the corrosive one and it'll appear in her hand for you to grab. Same with the fire one except the words are different.

This is my Good Touch:

And just for a comparison my Lascaux:

And yeah in BL1 I used an ammo regen mod on Roland but that was mainly so I could afk with Leviathan and my mouse button pressed down to kill Crawmerax lol.
